Q: Speaking of scars, they are connected to pain. Pain is also the theme of DIR EN GREY. What do "scars" and "pain" mean for you?

Kaoru: Originally, I think they are emotions that are born from the affection and love that people feel. For example, envy or negative emotions towards people, and wanting to love and be loved. These feelings are like the two sides of the same coin. Without love, there is no jealousy. Because you feel pain, you want to be loved. As both feelings come together, either one will appear. So, for me, I think DIR EN GREY's (pain) actually has the theme of love on the other side as well.
