Codsworth tries to keep Sole from going to close, just in case. Once heâs satisfied that its friendly he treats it like he would treat any other company. Probably makes the mermaid and Sole some tea.
Curie immediately tries to investigate and make first contact which scares it away at first, it allows her study it at distance but thatâs about it.
Danse tries to kill it before Sole stops him, he thinks itâs a monster. Still doesnât trust it but refrains from murder because Sole asked him. Keeps his distance.
Deacon tells Sole things he âknowsâ about them, which are of course entirely made up. Doesnât know if he should consider them a threat but figures thereâs no need if theyâre not attacking and theyâre stuck in water. Plans to diguise himself to a mermaid, though, to find out more.Â
Dogmeat barks and wants to play with them but definitely scares them away.
Hancock swears heâs seen one when he was a kid living by the coast. Almost dives in just to make sure heâs not seeing wrong. Tells Sole the stories he heard as a kid.
MacCready, like Cait, stays far away from water once he sees it thinking he might turn into one too. Can be calmed down by Sole though, but absolutely does not trust water after that. Thinks itâs kind of cute though, as long as it stays at a distance.
Nick isnât buying it. Maybe itâs a dude in a suit or something, maybe itâs a freaky radioactive fish but itâs certainly not a mermaid, no sir. Those are only legends, stories you tell children.
Piper stares at it for a long time, not knowing exactly what to do. Sheâs just as wary of it as it is of her. She attempts to approach it gently since it doesnât seem to be hostile but they both keep a safe distance. Tries to draw it from memory later, definitely tries to find it again.
Preston thinks first that maybe someoneâs fallen in until he notices that they swim impeccably. Notices the tail too. Makes sure Sole sees it so he knows he isnât imagining it. Leaves it alone though, he doesnât want to scare it or make it feel threatened.
Strong stares at it and it stares back until Strong throws a rock in the water to make it go away.
X6-88 is in awe, to be honest. Heâs surprised people have survived on land much less the water and he wants to approach it but wont do anything without permission first. Follows Soles lead in however they approach it.
Ada is unfazed. Tells Sole everything she knows about mermaids, which she also explains are fictional. She isnât really bothered by it, but entertains Soles curiousity.
Longfellow goes full on Ahab on the poor thing and charges right at it as it flees. Says he doesnât know what came over him when questioned afterwards. Remembers seeing a few as a young man out on fishing trips, claims one sunk his ship.
Gage calls bullshit. Heâs seen a lot of weird things but enough is enough. Just ignores it, tries to forget he ever saw it. He has enough shit to deal with. Says nope when Sole tries to bring it up.
