This is the symbol for Hudl.com. To my understanding this is a website/app where a coach can review any part of a sports game at any speed and can even draw on the screen(ex. arrows).
Looking at this form of technology from the angle of someone who participated in a fair amount of different sports and activities, I think this is great! I was in my High School Colorguard. In a Colorguard, every member must spin their Flag, Rifle, or Sabre in a uniform manner - every person needs to be in the correct spot, at the correct angle, facing the correct direction, etc. Everything must be perfect.
We never used this type of website but from everything I have read about it I think it definitely would have come in handy during practices and performances.
Both of these pictures mean so much to me. I have always loved traveling and not staying in one place for too long. I was one if many that applied to participate is the Disney College Program and I was accepted! I will be residing in Florida and working in Disney World from May 2015 to January 2016. See ya in a year Oswego! Mickey and I are out to explore the land where dreams come true!
Health Tracker and Diet Apps have become more and more popular over the past few years. People look at them as a way to track things such as their steps, calories burned vs. calories consumed, the vitamins and nutrients they’ve consumed, and sometimes they can also track their moods and sleep patterns.
Personally I use one of these apps, and I enjoy it very much. Not only does it make me more aware of what I am putting in my body but it also helps me stay on track with my goals. However, with all apps there are some downfalls and/or inconsistencies.
Every single app under the Health & Fitness category differs in the information that it provides. Some provide assessments and gather personal information such as age, height and weight to make the information they provide more accurate and beneficial to the person using the apps. Sometimes though, even with this information, these apps are not the most reliable resource. All in all, using them as a general guide is fine, but for any further information and/or details go see your doctor and get their okay and advice on the matter.
Social Media has an extremely large impact on today’s society. It is one of the most popular ways for people to stay connected and in-tune with each other, and it is also a very popular way of providing information or awareness about no subject in particular.
I think that using social media as a means of Health Promotion is actually a good idea. Using social media allows for a tremendously large audience to be consistently clued in as to what type of research is being done on health, what recent statistics are, and they can be made to feel like their input has an impact on what gets prioritized.
All in all, using social media to promote health in any way is extremely beneficial for both the communities staying updated and the people providing the information.
No one really needs this article to tell you that the popularity of video games and interactive games has jumped incredibly high in the past few years or so. Not only have video games that allow their player to be sedentary, have a popularity increase; but so did Active Video Games or AVG’s.
When these games were designed, the goal was to get more of the gamers up and moving and to help promote physical activity. When this study was done, using Fantasy Baseball and Fantasy Basketball, a vast majority of all the participants commented that they enjoyed these active games much more than they enjoyed the other games they tried that were much more sedentary.
All in all it was determined that no matter the type of AVG, whether it be a sport, a fitness targeted game, or any type of game that involves the player being up on their feet and doing some form of physical activity, it was generally more enjoyable and entertained the player for an extended period of time.
This video really tossed out a lot of information that seemed important to me; but we got into most of that in class. The biggest thing that I took away from the video was the “feeding the courage wolf” advice. Most people (that I’ve met anyway) have their “go to” fitness quote that they’ll think of while working out that will help them push until the end. Personally, mine is “Under Think It.”. I don;t remember where or when I heard this quote, but as long as I can remember it’s been my go to quote, regardless of if I’m in the gym lifting, running, playing a sport, etc.. (I even went as far as purchasing a Road ID that has the quote engraved on it). Watching the video and hearing the portion about the courage wolf really reminded me of how important it is to push yourself. One’s mind is much more capable of what their body is capable of and I think this line really sheds light onto that. I know there are days where I find it hard to get through a workout or run and I even contemplate stopping early because I don’t think I can do it.
Like I said, there were many great points that were made in this video and a lot of them stood out as important but the line “feed the courage wolf” is what stood out to me the most by far because it shows that we really can do anything whether it be one more set or one thousand push ups.
