Trying to explain Fan-Fiction to my Father...

Father: What are you reading?

Me: Oh, ähm... Fan-Fiction.

Then explaining the concept...

Father: So, two characters of a show you watched 4 YEARS ago go on adventures?

Me: Well, they get the Happy Ending they deserved.

Father: I see. So you're basically reading the same story hundreds of times?

Me: ... kinda.

Father: But that sounds really repetitive.

Me: Maybe, but in one they are Roommates, then Neighbors or are in High School together or they meet in a Coffee Shop...

Father: ...

Me: ... or they are Enemies and slowly fall in love. Oh, the best ones are when they are pining for the other for 100 000 words, but don't want to "ruin" their friendship.

Father: ...

Me: Or they mash it together with stories like Harry Potter or Star Wars...

Father: Okay... I don't really get it. But I am happy you found it, sweetie.

I think if you don't already love Fan-Fiction it is hard to explain its drug-like qualities. Right?

I met Lindsey yesterday at Comic Con Munich and she was the sweetest person you will ever meet.

I shared a bit of my story and thanked her for being such an inspiration for me and a lot of other people. She was so gracious and kind and said some really lovely things. I think I will remember them for the rest of my life.

And she even asked about some insider infos on what to visit in Munich, really sweet.

As I struggled a bit with my English, because I was so nervous, Nadia offered to translate for me. She saw it was important to me, so that was really nice.
