Gifted Kid Burnout Flavour:
‘Wants to be good at a lot of things but too lazy to dedicate themself and gives up if they’re not immediately one of the best’
Thicc ADHD moods:
- Forgetting to take meds straight after breakfast so just not taking them at all
- Having eleven assignments and forgetting about every single one of them the moment you get home
- Still having said eleven assignments come weekend but spending half of Saturday sleeping and the other half hyperfocusing on something that’s obscure and specific like criminal trial procedure in Japan, getting dragged out by family/friends on Sunday then having to do all your work in one seven hour burst on Sunday evening
- You fool. You absolute bafoon. You dare assume chairs can contain me???!
- Being hyper but not having enough executive function to move
- Trying to have a debate with someone but then your brain going fuzzy halfway through and saying random bs because you’re trying to think but can’t and having to explain that you’re not stupid, you’re just an inattentive dumbass
- Not checking one specific social media platform for a week and then just not going back for another three months
- Writing a post and having no idea where you were going with it
- ‘I heard a noise so now I’m going to astral plane and stare at a wall for a solid ten minutes’
- Being so afraid of being misunderstood or looking dumb or just wanting to be understood so badly that you overelaborate everything you say/write so that by the end of it you’ve got one huge run-on sentence that doesn’t make sense [like this]
ALSO:
- Idk if it’s just me, but anyone else cry about something and then randomly stop crying after two minutes because you forget what you were crying about because you were too busy concentrating on crying??
ADHD
Not sure why ADHD is trending on Twitter, but sure, here’s my big post about ADHD, because now it’s too long to be a Twitter thread (ADHD, amirite?):
ADHD has possibly THE most inaccurate name for a medical condition:
Dysregulation of attention, not deficit. We focus MORE intensely than neurotypicals on things that have caught our attention, because our neurotransmitter receptors (e.g., dopamine) developed atypically. But we struggle with switching tasks, because of this.
Inattentive-type ADHD won’t be as obvious, because it’s not the “physically disruptive boy child” stereotype.
Yes, it is a real neurodevelopmental condition, and yes, the medical community knows what it is.
No, not everybody “is a little bit ADHD.” Saying that shows that you haven’t educated yourself about the condition.
It usually manifests very differently for women, & MANY medical professionals aren’t informed about that.
Letting a child’s ADHD go undiagnosed and untreated leads to a VERY high risk of adulthood co-morbid anxiety & depression.
Letting someone’s ADHD go undiagnosed also leads to VERY high risk of addiction, because addictive substances trigger a fast release of dopamine, and the reward centers of our brains desperately need dopamine to live a happy & fulfilling life.
Black kids are 70% less likely (and Latinx kids 50% less likely) to be diagnosed than their white peers, because the most noticeable behaviors are attributed to willful misbehaving defiance, as opposed to a neurological cause.
This contributes to higher suspension rates for Black and Latinx kids, and higher likelihood of entering juvenile detention systems.
The misdiagnosis-to-prison pipeline is very real, with some neuroscience studies estimating that 40% of inmates in the US have ADHD.
Stigmatizing pharmaceutical treatments is harmful, because it inhibits people from accessing treatment.
Stimulant medications do not affect people with ADHD the same way they do for neurotypicals. They have a calming and focusing effect on folks with ADHD (unless co-morbid anxiety, depression, or other co-morbid conditions interfere)
Many folks with ADHD struggle to even remember to take their meds, and the most commonly prescribed treatments now have a time-delay mechanism that helps limit the risk of addiction.
Getting diagnosed as an adult made me cry, out of relief. I finally had an explanation, & I could forgive myself.
I am perpetually hyper-aware of how “not normal” I am in social interactions. I go through life feeling like an alien, every day.
This can lead to a perpetual cycle of self-isolation and self-consciousness, along with other maladaptive coping mechanisms.
Many symptoms that occur with Autism can also occur with ADHD: sensory overload, hyper-fixation/hyperfocus, directness, rejection of societal norms, emotional dysregulation.
The reason people with ADHD seem like they make every conversation about themselves is because they are trying to make genuine connections with other humans and stay actively engaged in the topic. Anything else seems superficial, disingenuous, and meaningless. People with ADHD seek genuine connection, and we are trying very hard to make that connection with you.
As with Autism, people with ADHD frequently reject society-imposed notions of gender and sexuality. These societal constructs are fairly useless, frequently harmful, and honestly feel contrived, awkward, and silly. I’m not just making that up. There is a VERY high correlation between gender dysphoria and ADHD (as well as Autism).
The reason I have to write everything down is because my working memory basically doesn’t exist.
The reason we interrupt in conversation sometimes is because we literally won’t remember what we need to say by the time someone finishes talking.
I forget someone’s name before they even finish their sentence. There are a million other things happening in my brain as I am trying to navigate a social situation.
Folks with ADHD can struggle with “Information Retrieval,” which is ironic for me, considering my PhD research focus. The information is THERE, however, and if there is an external stimulus to trigger, my brain can access and retrieve the information that I have stored.
So many folks who have ADHD struggle when they are put on the spot, unexpectedly. They can’t just conjure something out of thin air, so none of their words come out right, and then they will feel like an imposter.
It’s not all bad stuff. The running joke is that people with ADHD don’t just “think outside of the box”…they throw the entire box out, and provide innovative solutions that many wouldn’t have considered.
ADHD is highly-correlated with innovation, entrepreneurship, physical accomplishment, and artistry (e.g., Bill Gates, Michael Phelps, Simone Biles, Jim Carrey, John Mulaney)
We have so many hobbies, hidden talents, and interests…and we’re VERY enthusiastic about ALL of them. They used to have a word for folks like that, and there’s a reason scientists have postulated that Leonardo da Vinci very likely had ADHD.
I can detect someone else who has ADHD or Autism almost immediately (even if they don’t know it), & immediately form bonds with them. I don’t make the rules. It just happens. And I find it very refreshing to interact with folks who are neurodivergent, because I can let my guard down and just be myself.

Police officers shoot and kill Kid in Los Angeles: ‘He ran because he was scared’
Andrew Heney, owner of the Freeway autoshop, told a local CBS affiliate: “We had a security guard that was out front, because we had just had certain issues with people tagging and stuff like that.”
“And then the police came up, and they pulled their guns on him and he ran because he was scared, and they shot and killed him. He’s got a clean background and everything. There’s no reason.”
The sheriff’s department are claiming Andres Gyuardado had a gun but the autoshop owner and witness to the shooting says that’s absolutely not true he never carried a weapon and didn’t that night.
What’s even worse is that right after the shooting, the Store owner said the cops immediately destroyed all the surrounding security cameras, broke into the store, stole his DVR with the recordings, and then created an illegal warrant after doing all this.
The shop owner also states he never called the police and doesn’t understand because “There was no reason for them to be there.”

Rage vol.2: BLM and ACAB
*TW FOR POLICE BRUTALITY AND RACISM*
What is held to be sociopolitical, legal and linguistic fact:
1. Police officers have more power than the average citizen
2. Police officers have a duty of care to the people and a responsibility to uphold the law
3. Systemic racial discrimination and racism are oppression, and both are indubitably exercised in countries such as the United States of America
4. Racial discrimination, in most countries, is illegal. (See Racial Discrimination Acts et.al. for AUS, Civil Rights Acts et.al. for US)
5. Choking, shooting, bludgeoning, kicking/punching, stabbing and tasing [etc.] resulting in the death of a person is, by law and dependent on circumstance, second- or first-degree murder
6. Choking, shooting, bludgeoning, kicking/punching, stabbing, tasing and macing [etc.] of unarmed and/or protesting citizens is a breach of the law-enforcement code of conduct, a breach of the law [physical assault] and a criminal offence, as well as being legally defined as cruelty
7. In a liberal democracy [modern democracy in which inhabitants are entitled to human rights], persons in positions of power are equally subject to the law
8. In a liberal democracy, all persons have the right to political participation, which includes protesting
9. Black people and other POC are just as human as white people and therefore equally entitled to civil, political and other humanitarian rights
10. Denying the operating principles of democracy, especially equality of political rights and political participation, is anti-democratic
11. The United States of America is a liberal democracy by being a system of representative government in which the people exercise sovereignty and are entitled to human rights [see U.S. Constitution, Bill of Rights, Public Press etc.]
12. Patriotism is defined as ‘defending the beliefs and alignments of one’s country with devotion and vigorous support.’ [see dictionary definition]
13. Hypocrisy is defined as ‘a feigning to be what one is not or believe what one does not’ [see dictionary definition]
14. Tyranny, the opposite of democracy, is defined as ‘cruel or opressive government or rule’ [see dictionary definition]
What one can conclude:
1. Police officers contribute to systemic racism by abusing their power over unarmed POC, especially Black people
2. If you let police officers break the law, you do not live in a democracy or support democracy
3. Racism is systemic and contrary to the fundamental ethos of democracy
4. Therefore denying racism and police brutality exist is anti-democratic
5. Denying protesters the right to protest and forcibly shutting down protests is anti-democratic
6. Hence, one cannot claim to be democratic or patriotic if they denounce the U.S.’s constitutional pledge to operate as a liberal democracy
7. Therefore, if one denies the crimes perpetrated and perpetuated by racially-biased corruption within one’s legal system, one is anti-democratic
8. If one performs the previous whilst claiming to be a patriot or to support democracy, they are acting with hypocrisy
9. Donald Trump acts as such. He is the President of the United States. No further explanation required.
10. Black Lives Matter is not a ‘matter of opinion’. It is a matter of human life, justice, humanitarianism, and democracy. Denying this is, by nature, tyrannical.
Rage vol.1: the educational system
This is our educational system. Everyone has their own type of intelligence and learning style, but our schools rank us based on one. It ranks us on our ability to follow rubrics and instructions, to answer equations mistake free and to write what people want to read. Education should not be a competition. Education is education, and that means teaching people in a way that brings out their potential and displays their skills, not in the way that ranks students on their ability to carry out tasks.
Arts over mathematics doesn’t mean stupidity.
Sports over writing doesn’t mean stupidity.
Creativity over memory doesn’t mean stupidity.
Understanding over performing doesn’t mean stupidity.
Building things over describing them doesn’t mean stupidity.
Stupidity is making the conscious effort not to learn and not to change. Stupidity is ignoring a broken system because you profit off it. Stupidity is leaving things the way they are, leaving the majority of young people believing they’re stupid whilst you are in a position of power and in full knowledge that the brain of each individual works differently.
If you want change, critise the system, not the its victims.
Off Hiatus
My parents deleted tumblr on my devices for being a dumb ADHD bastard so I’ve been stuck ranting on ig stories, but I have returned from my sentence and oh heck oh man do I have some rage for y’all
Oh, yes. I accidentally became a cult leader in a discord server.
I accidentally became a cult leader over online learning when I was video-calling my friends during our lunch break. Good times :’)
ok TECHNICALLY that partially happened at school
but yes you did somehow end up the leader
Jiaran, the bitchass grandmother and I all see ourselves as equal, but, yes, I thought we should make it into a cult. i was also part of the Recorder Cult, where we all walked in a line one lunchtime playing ‘My Heart Will Go On’ much to the dismay of literally EVERYONE ELSE in the school. those were the days, huh... @mc-freaking-kneecaps, u remember the recorder cult, right?
kssjshakjshdhjas that talent show was LIT tho
you guys got like 3 standing ovations lmao
Ah, yes, those were the days... Recorder Cult, terrorising the innocents of our school, playing ‘My Heart Will Go On’ on shitty recorders every lunchtime for about a month and then in concert and indeed, receiving three standing ovations, doing the lord’s good work by walking in front of the obnoxious 8th graders’ illegal tiktok whilst playing aforementioned song... [this is where I look out over the horizon, eyes wet with the memories of the past, lowering my flask of whiskey to the saloon table and stroking my beard]
seriously though I’ve joined and formed,,,,, so many,,,, damn,,,, cults,,,,,
i have made a GRAVE mistake
the entire discord server is now calling me bear
it was meant to be a SHIT POST
@mc-freaking-kneecaps @allegedlybenparker this is ur fault >:|
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Woah
Anyone ever noticed how the educational system ranks us on our ability to follow through with instructions?
When I am murdered, I want my death classified as a homocide
