A couple of birds. Dromornis to the left and Raphus (dodo) to the right.
Been a while since I did a Spinosaurid so I started working on this a while ago. I took some obvious inspiration from crocodilians but threw in some minor birdlike details such as the penguin-like tongue. (This was made before the publication of the new paddle-tail)
Procynosuchus delaharpeae, a synapsid from the Late Permian (~259-252 mya). Measuring about 60cm long (2′), it was one of the earliest members of the cynodonts, the lineage that would eventually lead to mammals.
Its fossils are mostly known from southern Africa, but similar remains have also been found in Europe and Russia, suggesting it was actually quite widespread across the supercontinent of Pangaea that existed at the time.
It had a long vertically-flattened tail, strong leg muscles, and paddle-like feet – all adaptations that suggest it was a semi-aquatic otter-like animal capable of agile swimming. It also had forward-facing eyes, giving it good binocular vision and depth perception while pursuing fish underwater.
This started out as a color and light study but I kinda just kept going and...well...here we are!
Calm before the storm, two Spinosaurs chillin.
A highly detailed piece that took me a while featuring Tyrannosaurus rex based on the latest findings and research regarding tyrannosaridae. Sparse hair-like filaments along it's neck and back, larger scales around its snout and a realistic amount of fat, would this survive hell creek's harsh environment? https://danneart.deviantart.com/art/The-Tyrant-King-711626927
The aye-aye (Daubentonia madagascariensis) is a nocturnal lemur native to Madagascar. Initially believed to be extinct in 1933, the aye-aye was rediscovered in 1957. Due to habitat destruction and persecution by humans, they are currently classified as endangered.
Due to their unusual appearance, some villagers consider them to be an evil omen and kill them on sight; it is said that if an aye-aye points its narrowest finger at someone, that person will be cursed and/or die. In reality, this special appendage is used to tap on trees to find hollow chambers from which insects and grubs can be extracted.
“Agatha” the aye-aye, pictured above, was born on June 7th, 2017 at the Duke Lemur Center in North Carolina. Her parents, Medusa and Poe, were determined to be a good genetic match through the AZA’s Species Survival Plan. [x]

Some Tyrannosaur sketches/studies.

Two Archaeopteryx watching their little hatchlings explore the world. Got inspired when watching “Your Dinosaurs Are Wrong” EP#21 and have worked with this piece ever since (if you haven’t seen them, check them out at www.youtube.com/channel/UCM8Y_…) and with the recent release of the “Saurian” demo release I thought it would fit with adding some (speculative) parenting to the piece.
Misty morning in hell creek and rex being an early bird.
Rough sketch / final result of my latest piece.
