Hey,do u hate harumi too?
Oh man lol. I haven’t watched Ninjago in a hot minute but I used to be a huge fan. Nah, I didn’t like Harumi.
She killed her adopted parents because she was holding onto some bitter feelings despite having everything handed to her. She thinks that Lloyd killed her real ones when he wasn’t even the green ninja at the time of their death— and I’m pretty sure the green ninja wasn’t even common knowledge at the time and yet she apparently had merch of him when she was a kid? (Let’s not forget the fact that this royal family happened to exist all this time but never get talked about).
Somehow this princess who couldn’t go outside easily had fighting skills that could rival master fighters, had a fierce reputation as a bad dude you didn’t want to mess with, and had the wit to come up with an overly elaborate scheme to bring back somebody from the dead.
She was obsessively trying to bring back a bad guy who killed the Great Devourer because “he was the hero” despite the other ninja saving the world multiple times.
And then when she did bring back Garmadon she had reasonable denial syndrome that he was a bad guy— but only started to reconsider being a bad guy when he turned out to be a badder guy.
It just made no sense to me. This girl was borderline Mary Sue to make the plot work then her response to “I’m mad you indirectly killed tons of people” was “I’m going to kill tons of people for revenge.”
I’m sure there’s a few details I’m forgetting.
TL;DR: Character didn’t make sense to me and they retconned some things to make her work. I respect people who like her but I personally did not.
