Have you had any experience with a Coydog (coyote dog hybrid)? I've recently learned about them, and they don't seem to be as popular as Wolfdogs. I'm assuming Coydogs would be similar in behavior of a Wolfdog

Coydogs are like weird little wolfdogs on a 24/7 sugar high. I have no personal experience with them, but I have friends that own them and their nicknames run along the lines of: 

Hellbeast. 

Wild-child.

Heathen. Tiny Terror.

Nobody who owns one recommends them to others. Even people with years of wolfdog experience say “yeeaahhh, maybe not” to coydogs. Also, they are FAR less common than people think. Rarer, even, than legitimate wolfdogs. Most claimed “coydogs” are actually Australian cattle dog, husky, or kelpie mixes, from what I have seen. Here are some examples of real coydogs: 

These two are both known F1 husky/coyote mixes. Notice that the coyote influence is very apparent in these animals, especially in the shape of the face…

Below are a pair of coydogs discovered by a professional trapper. It’s nearly impossible to guess what dog breed contributed to their make-up, but folks have guessed them to be mixes of everything from Aussie to hound dog to husky:

The two oddballs above were also accompanied at the sets by this weird booger, who is very like their littermate since all three were roaming the same area together at the same time, and share unique looks that set them apart from typical coyotes: 

Those three animals would likely be considered mid-contents due to the presence of doggy characteristics not typically seen in confirmed pure coyotes (such as blue eyes, rounded ear tips, doggy-type pied markings, and “blue” color mutation). Finally, there’s this fine critter, who is a confirmed low-content coydog crossed with border collie:

The blue eyed coydog since I actually have the pelt and mounted that particular coydog was actually REALLY old.  Talked with a few professionals in the taxidermy field and we concluded that she was around 6 to 8 age wise due to her skull and the wear on her teeth.  Very rare for any coyote to make it that long in age if they don’t get picked off by disease, other coyotes, hunters/trappers or other factors.  The old lady actually likely would have not made it through winter if not it was for sure her last one due to her poor fur quality too.

Doubt the coydog was a littermate or related to the black coyote and the red and white coydog.  Also determined the black coydog was likely a low content coydog from everything I gather from studying the skin and skull on this particular one.  Only things that were dog-like on mine was the curled ears, skull shape and eye color.  

The black coyote with the red and white coydog in the first photo I also have the skull and pelt from that one, she’s just a plain coyote that had melanism.
