michael groaned as they sat on his couch. he was truly trying to be a gentleman, but his feelings and wants were over taking him. perhaps he had never been a gentleman, and he was foolish to think he could ever be one now. not when the women he had fallen so hard for wanted him. ❝what can i say, you fill me mad, with desire. one touch, one small kiss, and i am lost. yours to command.❞

"mr. sterling," anthony started as he let out a heavy sigh, what was going on in the others mind anthony would not know. "if you think me coming here and simply inquiring about certain things is an insult then you need to reevaluate the situation. i would do the same to anyone who intended to get close to my sisters, and yes friendships do exist but one can not be too careful when it comes to their sister," he stated sharply. "all it takes is one moment to ruin ones reputation and i will not have that happen to francesca."

he hated how much sense the man was making. if he had a sister, he would've been just as protective. as it was he was protective of john. he couldn't fault the older man for being cautious, however michael knew of anthony's reputation, and it really did not seem fair to have him judge michael for his past while he probably had done worse. ❝i would never do anything to ruin your sister.❞ he began trying not to sound angry. ❝i understand you care about her, and want whats best, but please understand me, when i said i would do anything to make sure she had the best in life, and that wouldn't include ruining her❞ he had done some things, but it wasn't like anyone knew for sure. besides, francesca was beautiful enough, and from the bridgertons, that someone would want to marry her, since nothing could be proven. ❝i care very deeply for your sister. francesca is the finest women i've ever known.❞

it came to no shock to francesca that michael essentially had confirmed what she had thought and had spoken . however , at his next words , the blush that had already begun to make itself known really deepened in colour , " you are going to get yourself into trouble with your words one of these days , mr sterling . "

michael smiled at franesca ❝as long as that trouble is with you, it is no trouble at all❞ he would do anything for her, which shocked him. the only other person he felt this close with was john, and he was family, and they grew up together. compared to that, francesca was a stranger, and yet he felt as if he truly knew her. knew her soul, and heart and he so badly wanted to be in that heart. ❝what is on the agenda for you today?❞

francesca found herself emboldened when it came to michael sterling ; he brought out a certain confidence within her that she had not been aware of . adjusting her dress , the strawberry blonde readjusted her position until she found herself straddling the older male . " i do hope to continue to surprise you , mr sterling , " frannie hummed softly before kissing michael once again . there was something so intoxicating about his kiss , she needed more yet it was never enough .

michael sucked in his breath, trying not to think about how good it felt to have her on his lap. as a man who had been with scores of women, he found himself almost a green boy with her. everything felt new, even though he had done it so many times before. ❝oh i have no doubt.❞ he said gruffly. his hands were on her hips, gripping her so she could stay steady. she was perfection, and he was having a difficult time remaining composed.

michael would argue, but ever since meeting francesca, he could not hide the joy he felt. however at clara’s question, michael shook his head ❝her brother would never allow it. i do not have the best reputation, and i am not good enough for her.❞ he tried to smile, but there was a sadness to his voice, because really, anthony bridgerton, of all people looking down on him for a rakish past.

anthony nodded slightly as he listened to michael, he respected the others choice but anthony was curious to know what he had to say. all anthony knew was that frannie had held an interest towards the other and while anthony did not approve completely he simply wanted his sister happy and well taken care of in the end. “if you respect my sister than aren’t i the one you should be speaking to in regards to her?” he did not ask expecting an answer but he was curious what michael held within his mind. “my sister has spoken kind words of you,” clearing his throat he relaxed himself, he did not want michael to feel threatened, “what are your intentions with my sister?”

hang it all anthony was right. however he knew that the older man would never give him his blessings. he was not even the earl, and there fore would not have the status to win over the viscount. ❝i would, but your sister has no interest in me, other than as friendship. so i do not know what you think by coming here, insulting me by acting as if i am the worst man, when all i have done is be a friend to her❞ he certainly wasn’t going to tell the viscount what had happened between himself and francesca at the ball.

michael was shocked when francesca had come to the sterling home. he had invited her to continue her lessons, he was shocked she showed up. thankfully, he did not have many servants, as it was just him staying in the sterling london home. he was shocked by her bold move as she climbed onto his lap ❝well miss bridgerton, ❞ he moaned as she kissed him ❝you never cease to surprise me❞ and kissed her again.

her statement made him feel ridiculously good. what had he become? he was the one who charmed women, who flirted and said things to make women blush. how had he fallen so far? then again, he didn't feel like it was far. he felt like he was floating. michael shook his head ❝i could never tire of your company. after all, you are my favorite student.❞ he felt his own cheeks go a little red. that night, in the hall, he felt more than with all the women he'd been with.
