Melinda had no memory of how she got to this new place. The teenager was alone and unsure of exactly where she was. She was also unsure of the people around her. She still had some fear. She bit down on her lip as she explored her surroundings. It seemed like an okay place and anywhere was better than home. Too many memories there. She looked up as dark clouds rolled in and it started to rain.
❝ Excuse m-m-me..❞ Bill spoke softly, hoping not to startle the other person as he tried to grab their attention. ❝ How’d we ge-ge-get here?❞
A small smile came to her face feeling relieved this stranger was a child. She didn’t have to be afraid. ‘’I’m trying to figure that out myself.’’ She sighed looking around. She stuttered sometimes like the boy in front of her. ‘’What’s your name?’’
“let’s have a rain party!” she said, dancing around in the rain that was pouring down. her parents always yelled at her for it, but she didn’t see the hurt in it. it was just water from the sky. it couldn’t harm her. “come on, it’s fun!”
Melinda blinked in confusion as she watched the girl dance in the rain. If only she could feel that carefree. ‘’Um..I don’t think so.’’ She shook her head. She didn’t feel much like dancing at the moment, especially in the rain.
“ This book, it’s rather interesting. “ Henry had told the person to his right, bookmarking the book with the receipt from the purchase. “ The Sun and Her Flowers, I’m usually not into poetry myself, but it’s rather… insightful. Great word choices, truly. “
‘‘I don’t read much poetry..’’ Melinda shrugged as the boy spoke. ‘’The title sounds nice though.’’ She felt awkward trying to make conversation.
