I’ve seen posts about the paladins making up their own memes while in space, but I don’t think I’ve seen anything in regards to them referencing Earth memes and confusing the shit out of poor Allura and Coran. 

Ex: 

*everyone hears about Hunk’s cooking at the space mall* *proceed to throw Gordon Ramsey jokes everywhere*

Pidge, running in circles: “WHERE IS THE LAMB SAUCE???”

Keith, holding Lance’s face between two pieces of bread: “What are you?”

WHO’S READY FOR SOUL CRUSHING CHARACTER ANALYSIS??? Well strap in, ya little fucks, you’re getting it anyway!

See, the thing about this scene that got me (and I mean HARD) is that this reaction is 1,000% typical of Lance’s self doubt. The question Shiro asks is if they’re willing to give up the fight against Zarkon. Everyone else’s answer is some variation on “Hell fuckin’ no, mate,” (Hunk says “no,” Pidge opts for “never” and Keith gives his uber typical answer of “I’m all in”) but Lance? Lance’s answer is “Let’s go down swinging.” His answer ASSUMES DEFEAT AS INEVITABLE, BUT REFUSES TO GIVE IN TO IT. This right here is who I really think Lance is: someone who views himself as a pretender. For all his bravado and false ego, he genuinely thinks that he isn’t good enough to succeed, and he spends all his time waiting for someone else to figure it out. Its why he was so quick to label himself the “seventh wheel,” because he thought that the penny had finally dropped and everyone around him had finally realized how useless he really was. That moment of failure feels inevitable to Lance, but he spends all his time fighting it because what else can he do? He never thought he would succeed in the fight against Zarkon, he never thought he would make it home to see his family again, but he’ll be DAMNED if he gives up now. Lance doesn’t despair in this moment not because he thinks they can win, but because (unlike everyone else except maybe Shiro) the surety that they’re going to lose is nothing new for him. He grins in this moment for the same reason he’s been grinning for the whole show: because crying won’t change the fact that he’s going to die.

Hey, so I've never read any Klance fanfic, but I def wanna start ! What would you say , so far, are the Classic (tm) klance Fics that every fan should read?

I’m in a good mood for once so I’m actually going to try to cobble all of my favorite fics together… I have a ridiculous number of ao3 tags open right now, and my computer will most likely burst into flames before I finish this post. I haven’t read Klance fic in so long, so most of these summaries will be off the top of my head lmao.

First off, the must reads in no particular order (aka the ‘fics with the most kudos for good reason fics’):

call me, beep me by safra

This fic is ridiculously popular, and with good reason. Scenario: wrong-number fic, done so, so right. Long-fic, slow burn, Pidge and Hunk are there for way more than moral support… The most important relationship is obviously Klance, but the author makes sure to develop the friendship between Pidge and Keith and Hunk and Lance. It also has smart Lance, which is just so God Trucking Bless. Incredibly worth it.

Sweet Quiznak by CheckeredCloth

One of the first Klance fics I’ve ever read, and still one of my favorites… Lance is injured, really mcfreaking injured, and as some sort of last-rights thing he confesses his huge crush on Keith to a panicked Hunk. It’s so good, and only four chapters so you’ll get through it quick.

A Fish And A Bird by Methoxyethane

This fic might just be my favorite Klance fic ever, or at least top three. Lance asks out Keith only he doesn’t realize it’s a date and they become boyfriends without Lance even noticing… It’s hilarious and funny and sweet and I could gush about it for ages if you let me lmao. Please read it… The sequel is also really great, just very NSFW, and from Keith’s pov primarily… So good.
