Dot gasped watching the girl on the bike fall, immediately turning off the hose and running to help her. “Holy shit I’m so sorry. I didn’t think you’d fall or anything.” She said sympathetically. “Do you want to come in so I can give you band-aids or something?”
She smiled softly at the girl, getting the bike off of her and slowly getting up. She winced a little, but the pain should dwindle in just a few. “It’s alright, just a few scrapes. Though I should probably clean out these two bigger scrapes; Don’t want them to get infected.”
“Wha- Hey! The recycling bin is literally just right next to the trashcan!” Jane called out, picking up the soda bottle from the ground. “Honestly, do you not care about the environment?” Her mouth dropped at the man who had just littered flipped her off as he continued walking away. “We only have this planet as our home, asshole! Treat it with respect.” Seething, she gently placed the bottle in the recycling bin marked as ‘plastic’. “Some people are just so... Ugh!”
morph looked up from where they were hiding behind some trash cans and put their index finger to their lips, silently shushing whoever had found them. “shh, get down, i’m hiding,” they whispered, eyes wide.
Jane had just been about to put her bottle in the recycling bin when she noticed the brightly-haired individual. “What ar-” Okay, now she was filled with even more questions, but she got down as well. The woman looked over at the kid with a quirked brow and quietly asked, “Are you playing a game of hide and seek or something?”
with a freshly baked chocolate croissant in her hand and a to-go cup of english breakfast tea in the other, belle stepped out of the bakery, holding the door open with her hip. as soon as she took a step outside, the croissant glipped out of her fingers, falling on the street. “oh no!” she cried, trying to catch it before it reached the floor, but failing.
Honestly, breakfast was her favourite meal of the day- especially when it was her day off. Having slept in a little, she decided to treat herself by getting something from the bakery and she’d been heading there now when she saw the croissant slip out of her fellow brunette’s fingers. Already having her sketchbook in her hands and being close by, Jane threw the book towards the ground near Belle and was delighted (and surprised) when the pastry landed on the pad instead of on the ground. “... I honestly didn’t expect that to work.”
Dot had been crouching behind a bush, waiting for someone to walk by. Finally seeing someone she jumped up out of her hiding spot. “Gotcha!” She shouted, turning on the hose and dousing them with water.
Okay, Jane had already been planning on going to the beach and getting wet. She just wasn’t expecting to get wet while riding her bike to the beach. The sudden hit momentarily blinded her, causing the bike to swerve and for her and the bike to go down. Fortunately, she wasn’t seriously injured, just two big scrapes on her elbow and knee and a few minor scrapes. But still: “... Ow.” She wiped her eyes clear of any water, looking up at her assailant with furrowed brows. “While I’m sure- or at least hope- that your act wasn’t meant to be malicious, that wasn’t very nice.”
( °. “ YEAH, NOW IS the perfect time to be out on the beach, actually. it’s not fully dark out, the sun is setting which always provides some beautiful views and it’s so peaceful out here. “, he agreed, smiling as he looked around the abandoned beach. it were moments like these he loved best. “ you’re an artist ? “, the man asked, his brows raising as he turned to face her again, his eyes dropping to her sketchbook. “ no, don’t worry. you’re not rambling. you’re all good. “, he reassured her, throwing her a genuine, hopefully calming, smile. “ do you mind… ? “, eric asked slowly as he pointed at her sketch, curious to see what she was working on.
“It’s probably one of the very few things that truly is perfect. Such serenity and beauty and absolute joy; I’ll admit, I’m more so of a jungle girl myself, but the ocean truly is able to capture just about anyone’s heart.” Of course, just nature in general held her heart in a way nothing else could. Art, books, and history were extremely close, but nature and animals? Her love for them were equally tied with the love for her father. Jane nodded, smiling brightly. “I am, yes! It’s not my main profession, but it’s not just a simple hobby for me either... If that made any sense. Oh, good, I always worry about that. Been told I’m quite a chatterbox.” Shaking her head, she held the book out to him. “I don’t mind at all.”
Her cheeks were flushed and her eyes were puffy, what did she expect when she opened a letter from the woman that took her? As the brunette came over to her, she quickly grabbed a napkin and dropped her eyes to the floor. “This is so embarrassing oh my god,” she mumbled, cracking a smile that hopefully fooled the girl. Although that smile didn’t last long, it quickly turned into a void expression that could only resemble sadness. Of course she wanted to talk about it but the letter had her doubting her mannerisms, if she should be open with her emotions like always or realize that people had problems of their own. “I don’t know, I shouldn’t be that much of a nuisance.”
“You’re not a nuisance,” she reassured, pulling out the chair across from Rapunzel and sitting down. “If you don’t want to talk, that’s fine. Just... know that I’m here for you and that things will be okay. I’m not sure what’s going on, but I hope that you’re doing okay.” The older woman smiled a little and she held a hand out for a handshake. “I’m Jane Porter.”
Ooo holy wow, I sure did disappear like that. My sincerest apologies, friends!! I’m going to do some replies, reply to any new starters, and then post one of my own because yikes I haven’t done that yet.
Also, I saw Infinity War the other night. I’m a shell of the person I was before I walked into that theater.
( °. SEEING HER SLIGHTLY startled expression caused a smile to tug at his lips and with his hands still reached out for her, his eyes found hers and he couldn’t hold back a chuckle. “ i’m good. i really didn’t mean to scare you… “, he replied, shaking his head as he brought one of his hands up to his head to let his fingers rake through his locks. “ i hope i didn’t mess that up. “, the man continued as his gaze fell to her sketchbook in her hands, pointing at it before fixing his eyes back on her.
“It’s alright! I mean, it’s rather starting to become late and not a lot of people tend to be out here so late. Unless they live around here, then I suppose that that would be more so understandable, but I was just drawing the ocean because it looked so beautiful right now and...” She finally stopped, her cheeks turning pink as she sheepishly said, “I’m... rambling... aren’t I?” Jane truly needs to work on that, no doubt. Of course, she’s been telling herself that since she was little. At the mentioning of the drawing, she looked down at it and saw that a few scribbles were out of place. Shrugging, the brunette shook her head before looking back at Eric. “It’s alright, nothing that can’t be fixed.”
“A stray Jack Russell Terrier puppy,” he noted, maintaining his distance in case the pup had rabies or something. “And I think he needs a good wash more than anything.” Wasabi watched how to the dog interacted with the lady. “It seems to like you, but, just in case, you've got all your shots?”
“A little TLC and he should be good as new,” the woman cooed, giggling as the puppy playfully nipped at her wiggling fingers. “Don’t worry, I’m all good. And you? I’m pretty sure that he doesn’t have any rabies or anything. But it would be a good idea to take him to the vet to get him looked at.”
“can you help me with something? i tried to make something a little different. can i get your honest opinion on it?” while the presentation a bit lacking, it was a very heartfelt attempt at a mini cheesecake.
Glancing from her book, the woman smiled when she noticed the little dessert before looking at the young girl. “It looks lovely! I really enjoy all of the colours; Reminds me of Easter. I hope I'm not being a pest, but is it a regular cheesecake or a vegan version?”

Perhaps sitting in the coffee shop to open the letter from Gothel wasn’t the best idea. She didn’t want to be alone but being so vulnerable in public, well that was a recipe for disaster, especially on how some people in this town functioned when it came to emotions. She couldn’t help but crumple up the letter in her hands, a tear rolling down her cheek and a loud sigh fell from her lips. Everything came rushing back to her –– every awful memory of being stuck in the same place for eighteen years. She heard footsteps approaching and did her best to hide her tears. “Maybe now isn’t the best time.”
Honestly, Jane needs to stop leaving her books at random places. One day, she’s going to accidentally leave a library book at, say, the park or something and it’ll end up getting stolen or worse: destroyed. She already payed one hefty fine when she lent Milo that one book; She can’t pay another one. Heading to the cafe, she noticed the girl sitting at the table she’d been at earlier and headed over to her with a small and slightly sheepish smile. “Hi, sorry! I possibly left a book here earlier and- Whoa, are you okay?” She finally noticed how upset the girl was as she got closer, her cheerful demeanor diminishing. “Do you... Do you want to talk about it? I could buy you a cup of tea or coffee, whichever you may prefer.”
