lol yes this is how I spice my life.
Life as a doctor might be a little different than you imagine. Hear doctors share what no one tells you about pursuing a career in medicine.
When it comes to physician careers, there are many to keep track of. Use this list of medical specialties to understand the nuances of each field.
So my last year is coming up, this is the beginning of the end.... ever other doctor we rotate with keeps asking what specialties we are interested in. In a couple of months I’m going to have to start writing personal statements for residency... explaining thoroughly why I’m passionate about my selected specialty.Â
Having been interested in peds for so long I feel like my loyalties lie with it but I’d be lying if I said internal medicine hasn’t been playing on my mind. Although I’m drawn to the investigative nature of IM, it’s broadness means I will have to really become one with subject areas like dermatology and cardio, which I’m not particularly keen on. Alas like most things in life the heart wants what the heart wants... so for now I’m listening to IM playing on my heart and hoping this post will help me further narrow down.

First long weekend since August and this is how I get to spend it 😂... the things we do in the name of medicine.
90 percent of hospitals are using or plan to use automated speech-recognition software to record doctors’ notes. But a recent study found that 7.4 percent of words were incorrectly transcribed, and errors clouded clinical information in roughly a quarter of cases. https://www.hcanews.com/news/speechrecognition-software-alone-is-too-imprecise-to-rely-upon

Personalities & Specialties
So I found today after taking two Myers–Briggs Test indicator tests I’m an advocate INFJ personality… what’s INFJ you ask? Introverted Intuitive, Feeling and JudgingÂ
Turns out the The Myers–Briggs Test has 16 personality types and here I was limiting myself to something in between an extroverted introvert. Whats more unlocking my personality may just be the glass slipper to my choosing a specialty dilemma.Â
Turns out my INFJ personality are good for Psychiatry, Internal medicine, Thoracic surgery, General surgery, Pathology specialties. Saying I was relieved to see the current apple of my eye –> internal medicine and well with Surgery, Pathology & Psych already ruled out, I think this might just be a sign from the big guy.Â
If you’re curious about your own personality type and the specialties best suited for it… check out the below sources. At worst they’ll makes for interesting reflective read, or at best they will give you all the clarity in the world.Â

P.S. my INFJ personality will be totally judging you if you don’t take a look at the below links.
