Nice.
"For a long time, I’ve been afraid… to let anyone in. Trying to avoid getting close… to avoid loss. No matter what I do, it happens anyway. Loss is inevitable.”
Passionate Professor Whistler is now ready for jury duty
Finch in Guilty (4x14)
The Irony Everyone thinks Mr. Whistler is crazy
(cred. mother-finch )
Saying no to Ms. Morgan was never your strong suit
Finch and Reese Friendly Banter, SE414, Guilty
My thoughts about ”Guilty” - and my favorite picture posted by David Slack in his tweets last night. Others here and on the Person of Interest Discussion Forum have much more eloquentlystated how wonderful this episode was, and I concur wholeheartedly. It will definitely be a “go-to” touchstone Season 4 episode for me to rewatch over and over again.

I have a few more random comments.

David Slack is the master at writing the interpersonal relationships – the emotional connections that our Heroes so desperately need with each other to continue their vital and desperate work against Samaritan and to save the Numbers. Thank god for David!!

I really liked Reese opening up to Dr. Iris in that he got to reminisce about his Dad and the story of him getting in trouble as a young boy. When he was speaking those lines, his voice was Jim Caviezel’s higher pitched, more natural voice, rather than the lower, raspy, husky Reese-voice. I always love the little times that when the “JC” side of Reese peeks through.
Last night, David Slack tweeted the following:
“I’m really pleased with how this scene came out. Someone once had to tell me what Iris told Reese, and I remain grateful.”
So I did really appreciate the fact that Dr. Iris reminded him that he must allow himself to remain open to friendship and love in order to survive and truly live.
That being said, I do have major concerns and a truly creepy feeling about the ethics of a therapist and a patient possibly becoming romantically involved. I REALLY hope that the show doesn’t go there and that Dr. Iris does NOT become a romantic interest for Reese. I also hope and pray that she is not a “plant” by either Samaritan or Dominic or any other evil forces who might betray him and his trust.
My hope is that Dr. Iris remains a trusted professional confidant to whom he can turn occasionally for therapeutic help, when and if he feels he needs it. As a person who struggles with depression, I know first-hand how important it is to have someone trustworthy in whom to confide and get help and assistance to maintain one’s mental well-being.

The Machine can be a single-minded little schemer, can’t she? I love how she circumvented all of Professor Whistler’s attempts to wheedle his way out of jury duty. In particular, THE “HAMMER TIME” MUSIC on the dupe’s cell phone that got him landed in contempt of court – ROFL ROFL ROFL
Although I laughed at Harold telling the anti-government “true-story-but-I’m-crazy-so-kick-me-off-this-jury” tale of The Machine and Samaritan watching everyone 24/7, I do wonder if that wasn’t a tactical error. Wouldn’t Samaritan be listening? Wouldn’t that flag Professor Whistler as a deviant? Gosh I hope that Samaritan was just busy elsewhere and/or that TM managed to subvert the audio somehow.

I love, love, love, love, love Zoe. Please, please, please let her come back again soon to help the Boys out!!!!!! Every single scene with her and Harold and John separately, and in the safehouse all together were pure GOLD!!! They all just shine like diamonds around each other. (Please excuse the emotional squee –I can’t be any more coherent about her right now).

Fusco is MY HERO!!! They cannot pull the wool over Lionhearted Lionel’s eyes and try to work around him. He knows what’s UP!! He has dedicated himself to their Quest just as much as they have and he has earned a seat at the table. Good for him for giving Reese a virtual smack upside the head – and I think Reese gets it now.

The bookend Reese and Finch diner scenes make my heart full. And the banter they shared via morse code sniper gun target and lamp lights – AWESOME!!! And Finch reminding Reese that he knows the emotional pain of love and loss and of putting someone else that he cares about in the line of danger and potential death…. Again, I can’t really be coherent about them right now but this episode was just beautiful. Happy sigh.
