Novel Idea signing 7-9,  August  23rd,  Kingston,  ON I’ll be signing copies of Meat and Bone Friday evening. Come by to chat, ask questions, and get your copy of the book.

Ottawa public library main branch 12-1,  august  24th,  Ottawa,  ON In conjunction with Ottawa Pride, I will be doing a presentation on my book, the creative process, and making a graphic novel, followed by a q&A and book signing.

Word on the Street 10-5,  September  21st,  Toronto,  ON Friendship Edition will be at Word on the Street, with plenty of my books as well! I will have had surgery the day before, but will attempt to make an appearance.

Interview Round Up!

I’ve been talking a LOT about Meat and Bone! Here’s the most recent interviews. There’s a lot of overlap in questions, but each interviewer took their own angle with Meat and Bone and qhat they wanted to explore in it. I’d love to do more deep-dives into the plot and the characters of my new book. Hopefully more to come!

Also I’m still really hoping someone does  acriticism piece on the book, that would be amazing to learn from a serious perspective.

Anne thinks that getting a new place with her two best friends will be a fresh start — then she meets Marshall, the girl downstairs. Their friendship will trigger body image issues she thought she had left behind. Meanwhile, Gwen tries out polyamorous dating and Jane practically moves into the gym, where she quietly works through her problems and those of her friends. In Meat and Bone, Kat Verhoeven winds these threads into an unflinching, beautifully illustrated exploration of how three Toronto women define themselves.

Gorgeous fat galley proofs! It feels amazing to even hold this mockup of “Meat and Bone” in my hands and really feel the presence of so much work and time. It’s a big book! And the neon ink looks so damn good. Can’t wait to see the proper books with all the spot gloss and glue binding. Guys, it’s real! And it’s coming out in exactly three months, wow wow wow.

This is the working cover for the my graphic novel “Meat and Bone”, a story about three roomates and their relationships with their bodies, food, each other…and the mysterious neighbor girl downstairs.

This is an ensemble cast story exploring friendship, longing, eating disorders, writing, polyamory, jealousy, FEELINGS!! It’s all about the relationships.
