CRAWLING IN MY SKIIIIIIN!!! THESE AIDS, THEY WILL NOT HEAL!!
3 Reasons Why The Force Awakens Sucks
1. The Primary Characters
Starting with Finn. Finn’s story starts when he sees a fellow a stormtrooper (presumably a friend) bleed out and die in front of him. This traumatizes him and turns him off to the idea of killing. A few minutes later, he’s cheering as he guns down dozens of stormtroopers. From watching the movie, this makes no sense. He was apparently raised from birth with these people as his only friends and family, and was clearly disturbed when one of them died, so why is he now relishing in murdering them? Why is he not trying to convince others to defect?
Next there is Rey, the main character. She apparently has spent her entire life scavenging for scrap metal on a hostile planet full of aliens. Yet, she is incredibly friendly and open to both droids and strangers. This is strange to say the least. Compare her disposition to that of those in a place like Mos Eisley on Tatooine. No one who grows up in conditions like that is going to be super friendly and trusting, it simply doesn’t work like that.
Finally there’s Kylo Ren. Trained by Luke Skywalker and Snoke (lol) yet completely incompetent. He fails at everything he sets out to do. How did he reach his current position in the first place when he is such a buffoon?
2. The Plot
Starkiller Base, a lonely nobody on a desert planet discovers a greater destiny, The Resistance vs the First Order, all of it. It’s a beyond tedious re-do of A New Hope, and way less interesting. Nothing more needs to be said.
3. The Visuals
There is only one decent and (slightly) original visual in the whole film, and that is the downed Star Destroyer engulfed by the sands that Rey scavenges from. It looked neat, it really did. Everything else, though? Tie Fighters, X-Wings, The Millennium Falcon, a rip-off of the Cantina scene with really bad looking aliens. The Visuals are just as soulless as the plot.
