Santana laughed a little at Sam’s question before nodding. “Yes, even whiter than you. I know you would have changed over the years but I doubt you’re at Luca’s level.” She added, disliking the fact that what she was saying was true. Santana and Sam were basically strangers at this point and she had nobody else to blame besides herself.
Focusing back on the blonde as he spoke, she frowned at the mention of Stevie. “I’m sure he’ll find his way eventually.” Santana reassured. “I mean, he has you as a big brother so that’s definitely got to help.” She added before smiling as he mentioned Stacey. “Stace is a Cheerio? I can totally see that.” Santana grinned as they made their way back into Quinn’s backyard. “I’m happy that she’s following in my footsteps.”
Sam did his best to ignore the way his stomach sank at the vocalisation of how he would’ve changed. It was one thing to think it in his head, it was another to actually hear it out loud. Just another thing to remind him that she hadn’t been around. He did his best to push that feeling away once more though as he shrugged. “I don’t think I’ve changed that much. Aside from like, the job and adult stuff I mostly do the same as I used to.” As they entered the yard once more, the blonde made sure to hold open the gate for her. “I bet you’ve changed lots.”
He sent a sad smile her way at the response to his brother. He hoped she was right. While it wasn’t so hard on him considering he was out of home now and had been for a while, he knew it was stressful on his father, and Dwight didn’t even know the half of it. A lot of the time Stevie would seek out his older brother’s place to crash or hide out when things got rough. Sam liked to do his best to keep those times from his dad. He much preferred talking about his sister, she was definitely the golden child but that meant that the conversation remained pleasant. “I’m sure she’ll tell you all about how she’s doing everything just like you did. Y’know, if you see her or whatever at any point.”
