I have had to choose the path of ghosting before. It occurred during a time in my life when I experienced profound loss for the first time. That experience shifted everything about how I view existence—facing the reality of how fragile and temporary this all is. My intention was never to hurt anyone or make them feel slighted; I just had to save myself from drowning. The nothingness was clogging my nose and throat. I felt like I had been dropped into the deep end of an Olympic-sized pool and didn't know how to swim. But I got out, I worked on my technique, and now? I feel like Michael Phelps.
