No Settlement After Mediation In Hulk Hogan-Gawker-Cox Media Case

A mediation session in HULK HOGAN's lawsuit against COX MEDIA GROUP, DON BUCHWALD AND ASSOCIATES, BUCHWALD agent TONY BURTON, former BUBBA THE LOVE SPONGE crew member MATT "SPICE BOY" LOYD (and his ex-wife TASHA NICOLE CARREGA and her friend LORI BURBRIDGE), CALIFORNIA attorney KEITH M. DAVIDSON and his law firm, GAWKER MEDIA, and COX Talk WHPT (102.5 THE BONE)/TAMPA morning host MIKE CALTA has apparently come and gone without a settlement.  The parties filed a Mediation Results Report after last WEDNESDAY's meeting (4/12) and notified the court that no settlement has been reached, which indicates that the case is closer to going to trial.

HOGAN is suing over an alleged conspiracy to leak his sex tapes with HEATHER CLEM, BUBBA THE LOVE SPONGE's then-wife, and GAWKER's alleged complicity in the release of a transcript of HOGAN saying racist things about his daughter's boyfriend to the NATIONAL ENQUIRER.  The suit alleges that CALTA, a rival of BUBBA, sent at least one of the tapes to GAWKER through BURTON, who has specifically denied involvement in the leak and testified in the first HOGAN-GAWKER trial that he unknowingly gave an unnamed client GAWKER's address upon request.

Cox Media Group this morning announced plans to sell the Austin American-Statesman and related community newspapers in Texas. The company also will sell its daily newspapers in Florida, The Palm Beach Post and The Palm Beach Daily News.

Kim Guthrie, president of Cox Media, said in a statement that the company’s “strategic business focus is changing.”

The company made the decision that it will focus on its newspapers in Atlanta and Ohio, where “we have the integrated opportunity with our TV and radio operations,” Guthrie said.

Cox Media currently owns seven daily papers: the three it seeks to sell, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and four dailies in the Dayton, Ohio, market. It owns WSB-TV in Atlanta and WHIO TV in Dayton. Cox owns a number of radio stations in the Atlanta market.

The company is currently based in Atlanta. But it started in Dayton nearly 120 years ago, Guthrie noted, with the publication of a single paper there.

The Austin paper, known locally as the Statesman, reportedthat Statesman publisher Susie Gray told employees in a memo that the sale is not a reflection on the paper or its people. She added, “As the media business continues to change, it is crucial that CMG adapt its business strategy to navigate these disruptive times in ways that benefit the entire media portfolio.”

Guthrie first made the announcement in Palm Beach this morning, then flew to Texas to meet with Statesman employees in the afternoon.

Cox Enterprises, the parent of Cox Media, tried to sell the Statesman once before – in August 2008, just before the Great Recession hit. The paper failed to move, and Cox took it off the market the following summer.

County artist include Sean Hannity, Big and Rich, and a host of other celebrity appearance. This concert will air Oct.19, 2017 at 8 pm. The live stream will reach all Cox Tv subscribers. Honoring the victims, survivors and first responders acknowledge the strength America has towards not tolerating hatred.

Cox Media “weathered”the storm

As Hurricane Irma ravaged through the coasts of Florida Cox Media stood ready. Cox made sure they stayed on the air to bring up to date infomation to residences of Florida. After making sure their own families were safe, studio engineers buckled down with generators and MRE’s.
