Craziest thing about the chick complaining about not being allowed to be "the princess gender" and being treated like the devil for having a penis is that she's Middle Eastern - girl, you live in the Middle East and you think AFAB people have it easy!?
that's such evil lore
I deleted that transphobic ask I got so I could write a better response to it.
I am not deluding myself into thinking I am a man. I've known I was for a long time, but I know that people like you rarely ever listen to trans people, so there's no point in trying to explain myself.
I believe that "TIMs" is refering to trans women? Anyways, I don't think they're men. I just think they suck. Two different things.
I do have to be anonymous if I join non-trans feminist communities because I live in a highly misogynistic country. I can't leave the house without a male, and I don't even have my own personal electronics- the only reason I have tumblr is because I can log out of it easily. If someone, hypothetically, finds out that I'm part of a feminist community, I still run the risk of getting attacked, assaulted, or killed. I've seen it happen.
You're bad at manipulation. If you want me to leave my community, you need to at least pretend that you're the safe option instead of being rude and accusatory. Work on your tone. 2/10 do better
this is killing me
there are so many more trans issues i want to talk about but cant lest i lose my anonymity. like. i have lost numerous people because they committed the crime of being transmasc. they came out and then they disappeared. they got married off, they got killed, they killed themselves, they simply went missing. i want to say their names, but the risk of someone finding me out and me getting hurt bc of my proximity to them is very real. i want them to be remembered, but its too dangerous to advocate for them.
the only thing to do is to only ever be intimate with other trans men. if I date a non-transmasc its too much risk of them ruining other parts of my life for no reason
This but unironically
we don't have time for people who think transmascs can't reclaim "tranny" we really don't
creative freedom is making the only transfem character in your game represent how every transfem you have ever met acts: an abusive, antagonistic, groomer that disregards every other character's struggles and puts herself on a pedestal.
People will disparagingly make comments about hypothetical he/hims with visible breasts without pondering the circumstances of the him in particular.
Are they a choice he has made, or are they a circumstance he simply has to live with? Is he low-income, does he have health care, does his health care cover gender confirming surgery? Does he have medical conditions that make binding dangerous? Will his family block him from pursing the surgery? Does his partner beg him not to lop them off because theyâre so fun to play with? Will his transphobic boss get suspicious if he takes time off and returns with a flat chest?
Why are we assuming that the choice he has made now is the choice he will make forever, or a choice made without coercion?
And if he does retain his breasts fully of his own volition... why are we disparaging him for making a decision about the shape of his own body?
Heâs the one that has to live in it.
are we woke enough to acknowledge that trans men & mascs get degendered too? no not yet? okay I'll check in later.
iâve honestly never heard a critique of the theory of gendered socialization that actually understands what gendered socialization is
Every single time, without fail!
> socialization theory is bioessentialist!
No, its the opposite, nature vs nurture. It states that gender roles and expectations are socially imposed, not biological or innate.
> socialization theory implies all people were raised exactly the same way with no nuance!
No, the fact that socialization varies based on time, place, culture, etc is key to the framework
> Socialization theory implies that people can never unlearn the roles they were forced into!
No, people are constantly being socialized 24/7 and socialization changes and evolves over time. One can learn to question or resist socialization
> I can't have been male / female socialized because I was punished for not fitting into those gender roles!
Yes, the punishment of gender nonconformity is a key part of socialization. Enforcing gender roles is like the whole point
> I can't have been male / female socialized because it traumatized me!
Yeah, socialization is often traumatic.
> I can't have been male/ female socialized because everyone could secretly detect my innate male / female essence!
This is unfalsifiable because the concept of a gendered soul or essence is a spiritual / metaphysical belief, but even if that were the case - again, punishing people who don't conform is the whole point. That's still socialization
> I can't have been socialized because I resisted all socialization by being trans / queer / marginalized!
You are not immune to propaganda
"if trans men say they don't have male privilege, they're misgendering themselves" just say you think cis men are the only real men and trans men can only call themselves men if they go stealth and pass as cis men this is getting tiring
if youre a trans man you need to live and be proud of yourself, if youre trans masc you need to live and be proud of yourself. if youre ftm you need to live and be proud of yourself. theres no other option. you need to live.
I mourn for the men and boys we never knew.
How many were there, throughout all of human history? Thousands? Millions? Billions, even? How many little boys were forced into femininity, married off and grew into âwomenâ without ever knowing why it all felt so wrong? How many men never got the chance to cut their hair, to wear their husband or fatherâs clothes, to do anything to explore their mind and body under the constant oppressive force of the (cis)patriarchy? How many couldnât live on their own, couldnât go to school, couldnât even go outside without supervision? How many never knew themselves, never were given the chance to know themselves, because they were kept as a housemaid and servant to their husband and children?
How many were there, that did know? That knew they werenât women, that knew they were men but had no way to explore or externalize that desire. No freedom to find community, no privacy in their homes, no money or possessions not approved by the cis men in their lives. For the few who were brave and lucky enough to try but were caught, the result was what we see now: erasure. Labelled as âtomboysâ and mentally ill, to this day still called women because their voice was never heard. Never was allowed to be heard. Even for the even fewer who did, or even got away with it, in the end the same result occurs. Arguments over their identity, refusal to believe their word over what others wanted them to be. A woman. And those were the tiny, lucky few. For the restâŚ
How many men were institutionalized? How many mutilated, raped and murdered for refusing to follow their imposed societal role? How many died by the hands of the government, their community, their own loved ones, for the crime of who they were? No money or connections to fall back on, treated as a defective object rather than a failed person. Buried in clothes they hated, eulogized with names that burned on their tongue and quietly, routinely erased.
People think of all of these things as womenâs issues, but theyâre wrong. Theyâve happened to men (and non-women), too. They have been happening, for as long as the concept of gender has existed in the first place. Men who were silenced, men who were invisible, men who never even got to feel in their hearts what they actually were. The trans community is haunted by their ghosts, invisible as they were in life. I wish we could see them.
Not just were, but are. There are still trans men around the world right now who will die never even once getting to do so much as wear a pair of pants.
how it feels to go on trans tumblr
i know my art is shit but i just wanted to get some thoughts and feelings out rq.
As someone who has watched many trans Native brothers disappear from the community without even a word or report, I genuinely despise the white trans women who want to say that they're somehow oppressed by Native trans men and trans men of color. At least your death will be passed around in the wider community and you'll have people defending you. Meanwhile I'll never see the greatest people in my life again because the government will never acknowledge the disappearances of Indigenous folk. Because unless their fellow Native trans siblings and family say something, none of you give a shit. There is no privilege in being treated like you never existed to begin with.
