Hello Medicaid Matters Supporters:

Today we come to you both with good news and a call to action. Last night, the Michigan House of Representatives voted to pass Medicaid expansion legislation (HB 4714) on a bi-partisan basis by a vote of 76-31. This is an important step towards our ultimate goal of smartly providing health insurance access to over 450,000 of our lower-income Michiganders. We heartily thank the 76 Representatives for moving us forward.

The legislation includes provisions to promote personal responsibility, ensure state savings, and promote healthy behaviors. It also contains waivers that will have to be approved by the Department of Health and Human Services at the federal level.

It's time for the Senate to step up and vote for Medicaid expansion before the legislature goes on recess at the end of next week. We urge you to call your senator and tell him/her that Medicaid expansion makes sense for Michigan and that it's time to vote yes. You can find your senator and his/her contact information by using the search link provided here. We encourage you to tell your friends, families, and colleagues to take action too.
