Agrippina’s death fulfilled the prophecy of some Chaldean astrologers years before.
When Agrippina asked them if her son would be king, they prophesied: “He will be king, but he will kill his mother”. According to Tacitus, she replied: “Occidat, dum imperet!” (“Let him kill me, provided he becomes emperor!”).
