PARAR VS SMAUG PART 5 (complete) !!!
(I put the two first pages of the little part 5 already posted again too)
It takes place juuust after part 4, Lord Jriรฉ and Lord Barkheam are still running to the WindLances (and also I put some description at this end because Iโm a little afraid my drawings arenโt precise enough to be understood and because I explained a little about the sleep stone again).
Part 1/Part 2/Part 3/Part 4
Page 1 : Barkhem pushes Jriรฉ away from rocks falling on them due to Smaug. Although his shield manages to protect them from the largest rocks, Barkhem prefers to protect the smallest dwarf rather than himself so he is struck by one of the rocks, which crashes down on his leg. He falls on the floor and the torn fabric reveals his leg, scarred by old dragon burns that refuse to heal despite the stone sleep (stone sleep heal physical injuries but not mental ones. Trauma can prevent proper healing, which is whatโs happening to Barkhem and why they can still have scars ) and his now broken prosthesis that allows him to use his weakened leg. The trauma and frustration of not being able to heal and having a leg that is always weak makes him hide his prosthesis and scars, which is why Jriรฉ reacts this way. He knows that the king of the Broadbeams has a prosthesis, but he had never seen it, nor the injuries that necessitate its presence. Barkhem tells Jriรฉ to leave him behind for now, knowing he can no longer run as fast as the situation requires.
Page 2 : Jriรฉ refuses to let the Broadbeam king behind and offers his pickaxe as a walking aid. the Lord of the Broadbeams is surprised of Jriรฉโs offering, because unlike Barkhemโs hidden prosthesis, Jriรฉ was never seen without his pickaxe in his hand, always the same one since Aulรซ created them, which had become almost like an extension of his arms over the centuries.
Page 3 : Jriรฉ and Barkhem are running through the city, trying to find a windlance that Smaug has not yet destroyed. Jriรฉ asks his friend if he has an other plan in case they don't find one but Barkhem answers no and asks if Jriรฉ has one. The little king of the Firebeard says that they will need to buy time so that Parar can regain consciousness and is dead set on the fact that his wife can and will win against the dragon. Barkhem doesn't answer to Jriรฉ's proposition. They are able to find a windlance but all the strings are broken but they choose to use it anyway.
Page 4-5-6 : Parar regains consciousness a little by little, lying on the mountainside, slowly merging with the stone beneath her. She hears the voices of her husband and Barkhem, looks in their direction, removes her hand fused to the ground and looks at it, then raises murderous eyes to Smaug while clenching her fist.
Page 7 : Jriรฉ and Barkhem patched up the strings, but since the mechanism is broken, they have to pull and aim the black arrows themselves. Suddenly, they hear the sound of a horn and look up. Parar is there, hammer in hand, blowing a war carnyx to warn :
1) Smaug, her husband and her friend that she is alive
2) Smaug that she's going to smash his head in two.
Barkhem and Jriรฉ are so so happy and relieved to see her.
