hello internet, it’s me james who lives in your phone. you may remember me as the editor of VERY ONLINE, the anthology about having a bad time on the internet inspired by my tumblrina years (ongoing) (derogatory) (affectionate)
we (my co-editor and i) have just released the first volume of TOWER, an anthology magazine similarly themed on bad vibes and disaster!!!
VOL. 1: END is 220+ pages of art and writing about when things end, how, by whose hand, from torturous breakdowns to brutal finality. everything from "make it end" to "please don't stop" available for pay what you can/free!

an absolutely beautiful comic i'm stunned to have included telling the story of a witch and a wanderer making peace with their places in the narrative of a high fantasy world in decline - there's a lovely unique style with big shapes and strong linework reminiscent of someone like kamome shirahama with the patient paneling and pacing of maybe tillie walden and it's just a lovely style that's so haruka's own <3

the opening essay and an absolute stunner!!! takes us through four artists whose works are famously 'unfinished' before deconstructing what that actually means, why we care so much about finishedness, and whether half of these famous works were even 'unfinished' to begin with. genuine fucking eye opener on the relationship between finality and art

hahaha i'm friends with a ton of people from that podcast network so i'm like mutuals-in-law with andrew!! (and.... mutuals-in-law-in-law with andrew's mom, i guess? i don't know if the mutuals metaphor still works if a person is presumably not actually on social media but i don't want to assume which host you made breakfast for yknow. idk the point is i'm generally moonshot-adjacent!) also i desperately want to hear what's happening on milf manor without actually having to look at a single screenshot or clip of milf manor itself so it's just a very good podcast to fulfill that need in general
Ye ye! It was andrew's mom. My girlfriend is andrew's sister, and we were visiting her parents. We were talking about milf manor while i was there. Small world indeed. Damn maybe i should listen to mild manored.
Anyone have any recs for a podcast/audio drama that is like... Hard horror? Like... I love the gay plot-heavy found-family audio dramas with horror elements that get really popular here, but I'm looking for something which is primarily horror, which has a main goal of scaring the listener and which achieves that goal. Preferably not sci-fi or anything on the RQN.
I am in Eskew is a beautiful primarily horror podcast. Honestly I thought the horror was pretty mild, but my mom found it so disturbing that she couldn't make it through the first episode. I cannot say for certain how much it will scratch the fear itch. If you like fleshy boddy horror and cities that want to kill you, I would reccomend it. I would also reccomend The Silt Verses, whch is by the same writer. Supernatural and cosmic horror elements in both. I think Eskew got picked up by the rq network a while back, but the existing story predates the aquisition. I'm not sure if you're trying to avoid supporting rq financialy or if you don't vibe with the writing style of the crative team, but either way, theres the info.
The Lost Cat Podcast is pretty good. It's been a long time since I listened to it, but from what I can remember, it's very similar to nightvale, minus the emphasis on romance and plot. There's also an orginal song in each episode! (The songs are all bangers) Supernatural and cosmic horror elements.
I would also reccomend some horror anthology podcasts! If you aren't really into plot, the anthology format would be a lot more enjoyable for you. Personally I love an overarching narrative, and as such I haven't listened to these, so take these recs with a grain of salt:
