Terracotta two-handled vase
Early Hellenistic (late 4thāearly 3rd century B.C.)
Greek, South Italian
Iād be really hesitant to call this Greek, but I know the Metās webpage does (????!?!?!?!?! WHY!!!!). They also say Apulian/ Canosan on the webpage, and either of these is a much better descriptor. This has to come from an indigenous tradition for sure. We donāt get many of this type of applique from the Greek ācoloniesā of Apulia, and not even from all of indigenous Apulia - itās a highly local and delightful Canosan variation.Ā
Canosa also has gorgeous pink pottery!!!
