Why I’m Not a Therapist

I’m not a therapist because I speak more in my head than I do aloud, I consume my surroundings and my body turns them to art. When I bleed I compare it to roses and when I cry it reminds me of waves.

I’m a writer with endless emotions, but my words clog me up with their cries, begging to be released. Instead of speaking about them I stuff them in Word documents and journals because scars can be scratched onto pages, but can’t be scratched from my skin.

I’m an artist who uses words to heal my wounds. I can tell you how I feel without ever opening my mouth, let you escape into my river of thoughts, so you understand the deep water I tread.

I don’t know how people spill their secrets to each other. I’m too focused on pouring mine onto pages, writing with fluency in the language of therapy. - M.C.
