My Hijab Experience

So after attending the International Women's Day Cultural Awareness Event yesterday at UofL where we were given hijab's to wear, I decided to wear it all day to really get the experience that these women deal with everyday. A lot of people really thought that I was the real deal and I saw some people act differently towards me, even those that have seen me multiple times before. People would get quiet when I walked by then proceed to whisper when they thought I was gone. But despite all the negative reactions that I got, I did get a lot of positive even from men. I have a better understanding for the women that choose to wear them and an even bigger respect for them. While I wouldn't personally wear one everyday, I never did see it as being oppressing. I actually wouldn't mind wearing it again one day lol
