Art is hard, by Nightgrowler [1111x1111]
I haven't been able to read print reliably since 2019. Partly because cataract surgery nuked my near vision (which is really all I had) and partly because I lived in Cowtown USA for over a decade and the answer to needing necessary equipment was "have you tried seeing better?"
Well! Now that I live in the big city I got to have the first appropriate (extreme) low vision assessment I've had in years. And they have reading glasses that can work for me! As well as some bits of equipment I have badly needed for a long time. I might even be able to draw with traditional media again!
However.
This is corporate hell and of course insurance flat out refuses to pay for luxuries like the ability to read. So I am having to put this on my credit card. Which is already almost $500 in the hole because Alyce, bless her, is an expensive (albeit cute) mobility device. And the cost of the glasses alone (not including any other equipment I am not eligible to get grants for until 2028 at the earliest)? $580. D:
So! I'm launching another GoFundMe. Anything over that $580 to pay for the glasses will go toward paying off Alyce's coming home costs.
Thank you guys for reading and sharing!

You can't have a character with significant scarring and not give them the non visual aspects ot scarring (numbness, chronic pain, mobility issues, itching, temperature disregulation, etc.), thats just disability erasure
S. snuffleupagus, a newly described species of fish, is named after the beloved Sesame Street character, Mr. Snuffleupagus, to which it bear
SNUFFLEUPAGUS REAL
Fantastic article!! The guys looking for it were fish researchers who saw it one time, knew instantly it was an undescribed species, and then tried for nearly 20 years to find and document it!
It's a type of ghost pipefish, related to seahorses, and it floats around coral reefs looking like a piece of algae and hunting unsuspecting prey
They are, of course, named after Snuffleufagus from Sesame Street!
Later on it the project, they got citizen science involved, and people across the Pacific started reporting sightings of snuffy fish from all over!
Hooray for science and hooray for S. snuffleufagus !
That’s … that’s not what I thought they were
