âevery peaceful moment is a blessing. sure beats a random night at stinky peteâs. no offence to james. or full offence, i donât think he cares,â she chuckled. ella glanced from mari to baby rosie again, a look of pure love and care on her face as she smiled at the little girl. âgosh, i could just gobble her up. howâs she doing, by the way? is she okay with the animals, and madame cendrillon?â
marilyn couldnât help the laugh that escaped her after ellaâs comment about james, the owner of the very well known bar in apple peak. âsure, itâs nice to be able to have a drink or two, but nothing can beat a moment like this.â she remarked, eyes on the toddler as she played with the toys in front of her. âoh she adores the animals. as for with madame crendrillon, sheâs been acting quite shy around her, itâs unusual for her, but sheâs slowly starting to warm up.â mari explained as she looked over at the older female. âiâm just thankful to have madame cendrillon around to watch rosie, i donât think i want her in daycare. at least not now anyway.â
after the craziness of a usual week in apple peak, ella was enjoying her afternoons with mari and rosie more and more. the sun streaming through the windows, the fireplace slow but crackling, and the coffee table covered in spools and fabrics and threads, weekend afternoons were simply divine.Â
ella made funny faces at rosie, hiding her face behind a dress she was mending, and then lowering it to reveal another funny face. âi could do this forever,â she whispered to mari, beaming.  â  ( @meekvns )
with a deft motion of her nimble fingers, marilyn worked on sewing the pair of pants that needed to be hemmed. enjoying the sound of her daughterâs giggle as ella made silly faces. these were the afternoons that she enjoyed the most. everything was so peaceful that she hoped nothing would ruin such a moment.
leaning back as she grabbed her cup of coffee, taking sip from it before she placed it down on the table in front of her. a smile painted on her face as she watched the interaction between rosie and ella. âi could just stay in this exact moment forever. so peaceful.â her voice soft and low like the other. mariâs nose scrunched up in delight as the toddler clapped her hands together with yet another giggle. âshe adores you so much, el.â
Rose had showed up to the Stinky Pete hoping to catch a glimpse of James, but he was nowhere to be seen. She had however been invited to a table with Gabe and Tony and sheâd sat there. Her mistake though was allowing Tony to convince her to try the new Rosarita. She wasnât sure what was in it, but six drinks later, she was no longer concerned. She threw her head back. âHELLLOOOOOOO.â
her eyes widened at the sight, she almost had to rub her eyes to make sure she wasnât hallucinating. couple of her friends had asked if marilyn wanted to go out for a couple drinks, nothing too serious since she had her toddler that she had to go back home to. but she hadnât expected to see rose, her good friend and trusty babysitter to be here. of course marilyn didnât mind the fact that the other had a few drinks it seemed, but she just never thought that was her style. ârosie? are you feeling alright?â
thatâs marilyn meekins walking down the street, the twenty-two year old, who looks like lily collins. here in apple peak, they work as a seamstress at urban florals. some say she acts like mary from cinderella, since she can be resourceful, but also a little bit gullible.
my new soft baby that i love with all my heart. pls be gentle with her bc sheâs fragile ok.
marilyn meekins was born in guildford, united kingdom. parents are still together. charlotte meekins, her mother worked as a seamstress, which is the reason why mari knows all that she knows about sewing and what not, her mother was a wonderful teacher. george meekins, her father worked as a businessman, so you could just about imagine that he was quite strict and more stern with her than what her mother was.
mari was the perfect child, never liked to disappoint, especially her dad since he was a lot harder to please than what her mom was. she tried her hardest to not get into trouble, did great in school, was always home on time whenever her parents asked her to be.
however things slowly started to change whenever she met this boy ( i may send in a wanted connection for it, not sure yet ) at the age of seventeen, she started sneaking out to able to spend more time with him since her dad set a limit on how long they could see each other.
of course, her dad ended up finding out and it didnât end to well, he tried banning her from seeing him ever again, but you know that teenage love. it only made her want to sneak out even more just to see him. which she did.
her world came crashing down on her at the age of eighteen when she found out she was pregnant. completely terrified because she didnât know what her father was going to say or do. she told her mother first and she was understanding of it all, but she told marilyn that she had to tell her dad, it was the right thing to do.
so she did and you can just about imagine that it didnât go well. he kicked her out, charlotte tried to protest against it because âthatâs our daughter, how can you do this?â but george didnât care, all he seen was that marilyn disobeyed him constantly and now she was pregnant with that âimbecileâs babyâ, he couldnât possibly have her living under his roof anymore.
she had no other choice but to pack up her things and get out of the house. out of town. she didnât have any place to go, she hadnât let the baby daddy know about her pregnancy. afraid of what he would think, so there was no way she could go to his place. deciding it was best to just pack up and leave entirely.
which is how she found apple peak. she loves it here. reminds her of guildford.
she was thankful enough to pick up a job as a seamstress at urban florals. absolutely adores all the customers.
marilynâs baby girl is now four years old. rosie meekins.
marilyn & rosie are an unstoppable pair. mar is that mom thatâs almost always bragging about her daughter. and rosie likes to remind her that sheâs âthe best mom everâ.
mari still keeps in contact with her mom, secretly of course. since george disowned her as his daughter. but charlotte could never do such a thing. mari tries to send her mom pictures of herself & rosie whenever she gets the chance, giving her updates on whatâs been going in their lives.
