The seeker grew up feeling really numb inside and pain helps him break away from that state and feel alive, I don't think he self harmed in the "standard" way or went out of his way to specifically get hurt but he also didn't resist if it ,, any time it occurred he welcomed it

He also associate s pain w powerful spells/ magic or means to gain something, which all starts blending in to something more pleasurable and therefor more tolerable,, which is kinda the same logic for why he's a little masochistic as well even tho he's more ashamed of this part of himself,, hurting others is more of a controlling thing like "look what I can do, I am so strong, I am not strong enough, I need to be stronger, I need to feel stronger"

This is all pre bilewater I do think his self mutilation goes down a LOT because he is very ashamed of it and its not like he lives alone anymore, while his hate for the citadel and more aggressive side becomes more prevalent (thanks Groal)

Also unrelated to the end but altought he does #AllThatShit he's also really opposed to suicide less before bilewater but he's like,, "How cowardly, people need me here!" Unlike Groal who's borderline passively suicidal (but not rly sadistic and doesnt understand why tf seeker would like that) if u squint (and bilestress tbh but shes chill) which like,, I mean sure king you do you ig which also didn't help when he was about to die because "fuuuuck I can't die!!!!! people need me here!!!
