CHANGES + WHY
Sorry if it’s not super formal!!
CutMan is a lumber robot, he cuts down trees and trims branches, but his original design only has giant shears on his head, which can be detached and thrown, WHICH IS COOL FOR A GAME MECHANIC IN THE 80S, but I think that alone is impractical, so I also gave him retractable blades on his hands, which he can use to stab MegaMan/enemies and trim branches, while using the ones on his head for heavy duty lumber work (cutting down trees). I also gave him padding on his feet because he jumps super high to reach branches, he’s small so he’s light and quick, and the tubes in his legs force air out of the soles of his boots so he can jump even higher.
GutsMan is a construction robot, so I made him super big, sometimes he’s big in media, but mostly he’s short and maybe a head taller than MegaMan, so I wanted him to actually look big and intimidating. I Also gave him the caution tape pattern all over him so it’d match more to the construction theme. And I made his ‘skin’ gray because I was never a fan of the 'flesh jaw’ he had, I think it looks super awkward. Not as many changes, but still some big ones.
IceMan is made for exploration in sub-zero temperatures, I didn’t change much on him, but I gave him an actual coat, snow boots, and mittens so he looks different from the other dudes. If he were to take the snow outfit off, he’d have a chest plate like CutMan, and the joint seams (for lack of better word) that the others have. I also gave him cuter features because!! He’s cute!! (And rosy cheeks usually mean he’s a brat, and I completely think IceMan would be a little bratty)
BombMan isn’t one I really changed too much, I changed his blue eyes to brown, gave him more areas to turn and joints to bend, I also spiked his mohawk and gave him shark teeth, I don’t think the OG design said “I’M WILD AND WANNA PARTY” enough.
FireMan was made to do away with trash and I believe to help with large fires by controlling them. I based his gloves and boots off of what real firemen wear, I also gave him hands because It’s What He Deserves™️, and I made his skin darker for no reason other than I don’t want them all the same skin tone, I like it, and I think he looks good.
ElecMan is also one I didn’t do too much with, he’s for electrical regulation, I made his skin darker and swapped the blue eyes for brown ones, and gave him heels. The heels don’t really serve a purpose, I just want you to know he can backflip in them. I also added tubes in the back of his head that are to have electricity flow through him. On his back and the back of his legs there are panels with ports to plug in electrical (power plant) cords into them so he can manually power everything.
TimeMan is an unfinished robot made for Time Travel research, I changed the red and blue to pink and baby blue (matches the purple better), made him shorter than his brothers, since he seems to be MegaMan’s height in comics, and I just added patterns to him. The only extremely notable thing is the turnkey on his back that analog alarm clocks used to(?) have.
And as for OilMan, what do you mean? My design is the only OilMan design :) BUT REALISTICALLY, I just made him less bulky (he’s built for speed and needs to float on top of water) and now he’s blue (and not a racist caricature, I know america made him blue, but the design’s look regardless was bad.)
