What are you most proud of with your writing process?

I am most proud of my development of revision. Before starting this class I used to write my essays and then have a friend reread them and give feedback. Since starting the class I have written essays and reviewed it several times myself. After I have reviewed I have then given it to multiple friends and even family to give me feedback. This has helped my essays become stronger as multiple people are reviewing it compared to just me and one friend. In addition, I have also been to the writing center and to professors offices for help this semester on papers. This has made a huge difference.

That's great! I agree that having more people look at your writing can really strengthen it, especially when a fresh set of eyes reads it for the first time. I have also often spoken with friends and the professor often to get feedback on what I'm writing and how to make it more concise, readable, and audience-forward, as well as how I can expand my thoughts/ideas clearly and usefully for the audience.

What are you most proud of with your writing process?

With my writing process, I am most proud of my ability to establish outlines and convert my outline brainstorm into structured paragraphs to write my papers. I think I have practiced building outlines since middle school, so I have almost perfected the craft to work best for me. My outlines make me feel proud because it helps me and makes me feel happier and more confident about my work.

I agree and mentioned something similar in my response to this question. I feel like having this strong foundation for structuring content sets you up for success when developing your writing content. Having a process that moves with you as you write in different formats and for different situations gives you, as the writer, more confidence in what you are writing and how you are incorporating key concepts from the class within that, too.

What are you most proud of with your writing process?

With my writing process, I'm most proud to have stayed consistent on a posting schedule and remain organized when creating content. For posting, I wasn't very familiar with creating content in general, as I don't use most social media and never post. However, the practice I gained each week and applying my writing process created in the first major project has helped grow my confidence to possibly post outside of class. For staying organized within all tasks, the same process has been able to adapt with me. I've felt more established in my writing from the start, no matter what the assignment is. This has set up a successful writing foundation for this class, future MU classes, and beyond!

What do you like most about your learning?

What I like most about my learning is how I am growing in my vocabulary as a writer. Not just in the words I'm writing, but the concepts we've learned and incorporated in our processes from the start have stuck with me the entire semester. Additionally, I've felt more intentional in my writing layouts and organization based on the class structure and my experience as a graphic designer. My confidence in both writing and design has grown because of it, and I feel these key concepts and other subjects in web writing will stick with me, especially as I continue my education, and eventually graduate and head into the graphic design world.

Where will you adjust your essay to strengthen your point?

Though I am at the beginning stages of the final essay, I will work to adjust my points by going through a similar revision process from the last couple projects of the class. I will start by rereading what I have, question by question, and think about where I could strengthen my main points, potentially add supporting imagery, and make sure I'm clear in my purpose of answering the questions. From there, I will likely reach out to the professor to make sure I am where I need to be and get any other useful feedback before submitting my final confidently.

What assignment questions do you have that will help you complete the assignment successfully?

For this assignment, what do you mean by "a question and essay format"? Are we writing a well-developed paragraph or two to answer each question, or mini-essays for each one?

Also, is this supposed to be written in more of a conversational tone, like a traditional interview would be, or should it be posed in a true formal/professional essay way?

For the word counts, how strict are they? I tend to write more in general, so would going over be okay for this to fully develop my answers?

Another question is, should we include any imagery to further share evidence on how we are answering these questions? I know design is not needed, but I wasn't sure if imagery was encouraged to show past assignments and projects, as well as anything else appropriate.

Lastly, is it okay to reuse a strong set of examples across all questions, or should it be a different set for each question?

Share pictures of your favorite snack foods for staying motivated while you do all the schoolwork.

I eat a variety of snacks to stay motivated, depending on what I am in the mood for. If we have fresh fruit in the house, I will gravitate towards that to snack on as I go about my coursework. Another go-to in the evenings would be popcorn, because of how simple and light it is to eat while working on different online tasks. And for fun, sometimes if I get a snack like Twizzlers, I eat them in breaks as a little reward. I also always have a Propel with me to drink while eating these snacks to stay hydrated and full of electrolytes!

What did you learn about drafting across multiple weeks that will inform your writing process after college?

I have learned that it is very important to make improvements throughout the writing process. Your first draft may not be perfect but if you continuously make improvements you will slowly get there. The drafts are designed to help you get critiques in order to improve your work easier.

I would also agree that making improvements is an important part of life. In order to succeed in your career you will have to make improvements. Making improvements can help you stand out in a company and potentially move you up to a higher level job.

I agree that when creating a writing piece in one sitting, it is not usually the best version of that writing. Working on it over time with fresh ideas and mindsets, along with critiques and feedback, helps strengthen the piece over time. Improvements, along with having a strong base structure for your project or goals, are definitely something companies will look for in an employee. You're showing dedication and passion to them to point out simply that you care and wish to succeed there.

Should I add more graphs to my paper? Personally, I think this is fine, but what do y'all think?

I think these would work well, along with showing maybe a set of pie charts or another type of bar graph to visualize the metric data (likes, comments, shares, views, etc.) you used for each account. For your current graphs, they feel a little unorganized. For the first one with Kai Cenat, there are only 2 labels for the key (personal and entertainment), and not 4, as it seems you may have from the other graph bars. This is similarly inconsistent with the other 2 graphs, as well. I would also change the color of the last bars to a different color, such as a very similar green, to show a true difference. The last thing is that, unless you explain it, how do these measure engagement? Is it by adding up the total likes per category of content? I think adding a title for the y-axis would be helpful to give the audience a better understanding of what engagement you collected and used to determine the numbers you have.

Above is a screenshot of my Content Analysis paper in the Conclusions section. I wanted to answer the heading question of why this research is important for content strategy and MLB teams in general. Does my paragraph answer that question? Should I provide deeper answers? I tried to make sure the paragraph was broad and applied to the real-world, but did I go too broad? How can I make this better?

In short, yes, I believe your paragraph is answering that question. I think this is a bit too broad and contains some unnecessary repetition, such as the same phrases "influencers, content creators, and web writers" being used often. Narrowing it down to just one category, like sports content creators, would be more consistent, along with saying it less often. I think trying to make this a little more concise, using a specific word for these creators, and even diving deeper by including a piece or two of info from your data, would create a stronger connection.

For this portion of my analysis, I have a lot of text and have had a hard time trying to make it all fit well together. I'm wondering where I could cut certain parts out without this analysis portion losing meaning. Are there any sentences or words that feel repetitive or too detailed? I could try to move the bottom paragraph onto the next page, as well. Any feedback on also making sure I am analyzing the data enough, or focusing too much on describing the posts themselves, would be helpful.

Here are two examples of charts that I use for each account. I also use a pie chart to visually show the proportion of the content type used by the cafes I have been analyzing (food-focused and promotional).

I'm wondering if my formatting and other details/titles make sense to support them for the viewer/audience. I do explain the charts as well in my analysis for extra clarity, too.

For the metric data on the left, the purpose is to show all 30 posts over time to view the differences in likes, comments, and shares. I used the dates to further explain this on the x-axis. For the other bar chart, I added up the total likes, then comments, and then shares within each of the 2 categories and compared them. I wanted to show that the volume of promotional content is still showing the most engagement. For instance, in a different case, there could have been way more food-focused content, but the most engagement could have come from those fewer promotional posts, if that makes sense.

Peer Review 1

For my audience analysis, Dr. P asked me to "include posts to show evidence that your analysis is accurate? Use a post, then point to elements of it that speak to Lancaster, not traveller." I agree that this would strengthen this portion of my project, especially for the analysis and conclusion parts later.

I'm wondering if I should take out anything that I have and place a couple of posts to show this, or if I should separate and make this two pages, rather than one, to fit the content in more manageable parts and not get rid of anything? I thought I was somewhat showing this anyway from the posts that are in the circles, which is a pattern to show imagery of posts in my entire project. Maybe I could use them? It also may be as simple as just including a couple of other posts that support this, incorporated into what I have already, but any other ideas or opinions would be great!

What did you learn about your writing process that will help you after college?

I learned that having structure from the start is key to creating the best outcome of my writing. With this project, having the guidelines and being able to run with that to create my outline, design, headers, etc., helped me stay grounded in continuing the project by writing the main bulk of my analysis. Even when working on my data collection, structure was needed to really dive in and create meaningful connections and put down everything I needed to be successful for the analysis later. Creating something of a structure that will ground the rest of a project will definitely be useful after college, when planning, possibly collecting data, and creating the final layout of designs I am creating. Starting out with structured formats will create foundations to move forward and explore/grow with the clients I'm working with/for.

What did you learn about drafting across multiple weeks that will inform your writing process after college

From drafting over multiple weeks, I have learned that creating a strong, meaningful, and clear piece of writing is a huge process and needs time to settle and play with. It takes dedicated time to plan, research, and revise a piece of writing. By working on this project for many weeks, we also look at what we write with fresh eyes and sharper ideas than the last drafts. Doing this process after college, especially with designing, will be useful to grow the work I am creating more effectively than when done in only one sitting. I can review again and again to make sure everything is meeting the client's needs.

We have been working with a lot of data, and data analysis. Share an image of data you've seen posted in the real world.

I see data a lot in sports, specifically NFL football stats. These are some of the standings from last season, showing overall weekly wins and losses, home vs away game wins and losses, point averages, net points, conference categories, leader order of each category, and more! You can likely find other data sets from previous years as well, showing this same type of categorial information.

how are you developing style to build your argument in the content analysis?

I am developing style by using clear explanations of the collected data to properly share my findings. I explained my data in a clear way so the reader may understand it and I explained my findings, commenting when the data does or doesn't follow there reputations. I tried to use a style that puts the reader on the same page as me, so every point I made could be interpolated the same way I did. Fully knowing the data collected in an experiment is very important but knowing how the data compares with past studies can also be important. I explained my findings, how they compare with my hypothesis, and past trends as to fully convey my argument.

I think explaining your findings, including related comments, and using a conversational language would definitely put the reader in your position as the writer to be very effective and meaningful. You want to show your audience the importance of this information to you based on your research topic, question, and hypothesis. I also think relating to trends and other facts of that nature, and even citing them, would be a great way to connect your findings and conclusions together.
