“Yes, doctor I need you to come over right away. I have a bad case of lovesickness.” Shinra said on the other end of his phone. Most others would probably just take it as a prank call and hang up, but Shinra was hoping the other would recognize his voice.
He waited in the silence on the other end for a little while. In fact he was not even far away from meeting the other, only a few meters outside the door. it was just Shinra’s playful nature that caused him to want to play this prank. He did not know many others who worked in medicine. The only ones were his father, and his father’s second wife Emilia but they were closer to researchers than practitioners.
However, as playful as he was he was also impatient. In the next moment he burst through the door, “Hello it’s me again, Kishitani Shinra Desu <3! Tell me you missed me, or tell me you didn’t miss me I’d rather you be honest if that was the case. “
@headlxess
Shinra skipped along the side of the road. One might wonder why a grown man was skipping, one might even gawk at the spectacle but Shinra did not care what others thought. He skipped because he was in love, and because he was in love the entire rest of the world did not matter.
However, he was an underground doctor so he probably needed to stop skipping and be more casual to fit into the crowds at some point. So, he did just that, albeit with a sigh. Somebody had called him to treat a patient only giving him a place to meet with no name.
Shinra found it suspicious, he even felt a certain chill, but that kind of danger was common with his livelihood and it did not prevent him from going. The moment he saw the person waiting for him at the assigned place, Shinra realized what that chill came from.
"Ohhhhh, Izaya, you were brought here too? Those scientists really have bad taste in people.” Shinra said, insulting casually one of his two only friends in the world.
bubonem:
Eto watched her name plate fall to the ground, and idly wondered how it hadn’t yet broken given how many people had come into her office and touched her things.
She rested her chin on tented hands as she watched Shinra continued to talk– she knew where this was going, far too used to having to listen to the rambles of others. Maybe, just maybe, this one would be interesting. Or, maybe, she was being foolishly hopeful– either were possible, she supposed.
Watching him move about, she wondered just what sort of dramatics this man was used to. He fluttered around with such ease, he must have had a lot of practice.
Even at the mention of her books, Eto’s expression hardly changed. She was observing him, noting fully well that he was observing her, too.
“You’ve read my books, so you ought to know that I write tragedies, horror, and the like.”
She smiled, ever so slightly.
“If my works unsettled you, then they achieved their goal.”
“It’s not the contents of the work itself, it’s more like the attitude. I’ve never shied away from the Macabre, I mean, there are certain legends of death reapers that show up on people’s doorsteps and throw blood all over them I’ve always thought that was kind of hot.”
Shinra did a terrible job of concealing his greatest secret. Though he doubted that she would immediately guess this normal looking person with only an eccentric attitude would have such an extraordinary love affair.
It was too bad really, if Shinra could he would walk everywhere wearing an “I Love Celty” T shirt.
“It’s just the writer seemed very condescending in the way they treated their characters you know. Uhh, let me put it like this you know like cats? Most people will fawn over cats even if they’re a little bit pissed off at you, or they’re busy doing something else. They’ll go ‘awwe how cute’.”
He looked up at the ceiling again but seemed to be looking entirely elsewhere. “With this person it was like, even if the cat had just been hit by a car, or was mangled and dying of starvation on the street. They’d have the same reaction. ‘Awe, how cute’. That kind of thing, condescending right?”
serutee:
Celty’s helmet drooped, and her shoulders did the same. Was her handwriting that bad? She supposed it might be– she had began dependent upon her PDA for some time now…
Even so, she did note the fact that Shinra was in high spirits. That could only be a good thing– usually, anyway.
[ My handwriting’s fine so long as people can read it. ] She wrote.
Celty would have continued to write, posing more questions to Shinra, had he not answered her so… well, so like himself.
[ Don’t say stuff like that so loud, we’re in public. ]
He could at least try and save that sort of talk for when they were in private, but, she knew him better than to expect that.
[ So, you don’t know anything about this place either? ]
Shinra did not remember what he had resumed in Ikebukuro. The moment he was transported to this city, all he could think of was the lonely months he had spent without Celty, always waiting for her to come, always believing, only to disappear entirely before she ever showed up.
Whatever that made him feel he did not show up. In fact he only smiled all the brighter. Ah well, Celty’s here now so it doesn’t matter.
Shinra was like the Cheshire cat, every part of him might as well have been invisible except for that smile of his. “Awe, but don’t you think being in public makes it more erotic! It’s like, the forbidden element, the taboo you know! They say the grass is greener on the other side, and grass is really soft to lay in especially if you’re not wearing any clothes.” Shinra thought it was better to just continue acting like his normal self. He offered her a hand to take as he had already grown tired of sitting still and wanted to move forward. “Come on let’s go exploring then. I’m sure we’ll figure it out. They gave me a brochuer too! Looks like we both got stuck in districts that’s like living in a little shack, oh but the less room in a house I share with Celty the more intimate it becomes. Thank you scientists for having my back!”
bubonem:
Eto watched blood trickle down the man’s face, and wondered if he noticed the pain he must’ve been feeling. Or, maybe he didn’t feel the pain at all. Either way, the author didn’t have to take note of the man before her for very long to realize something about him.
That is, that this man was a weirdo.
Clearly, she must have a penchant for running into and attracting these sorts of people, or maybe this city was just full of them. She couldn’t tell, for even someone like herself couldn’t judge every person in this city. She could only make observations from what she saw. And, what she saw was undeniably, undoubtedly, a genuinely weird man.
Though, who was she to talk?
Eto leaned back into her chair, content to let the man ramble, until he finally noticed what she’d gestured to. She didn’t understand much of what he said, outside of his name and some of his interests. Who the hell was Ruri Hijiribe? Ah, yes, he’s definitely a weirdo…
“That’s my name, I’m glad you’ve noticed it.”
“So, you’re Kishitani Shinra… sorry, I haven’t heard of you from Battler-kun.”
She rested her palms on the table, coming to sit up now that this man seemed to be intent on (possibly) having an actual conversation.
“Though, you seem to have heard of me, I assume? Might I ask where you heard my name?”
There were plenty of places he could have heard it, if not from any book store in this city that promoted her works, or from Ushiromiya Battler himself. She was merely curious, that was it.
“I’m actually quite good at reading you know. For example, I read this name plate on your desk.”
Shinra said as he picked it up and played with it for a moment. However, as his hands were clutzy at all other times except surgery, he dropped it on the floor and forgot about it. It’s not like Shinra wanted to talk though, so much as he wanted to talk at someone and Takatsuki just happened to be his most recent victim.
“Hmmm but before this I read your books. I got a really distinct impression when reading them, your words carry emotion well. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so in total your books must have amounted to a few hundred pictures at least.”
As he rambled around he also moved about. He dramatically gestured and started to walk around inspecting the room with no invitation. He went immediately to the books on her shelf and started to play with them.
Just as he slid one out he turned to face her, the glare from his glasses partially obscuring one of his eyes.
“For instance the impression I got from reading one of your books was, why does this woman make my skin crawl so much?”
serutee:
My what?
Celty tilted her neck, and in turn, her helmet, in curiosity at Shinra’s words.
Oh, he’s just being weird… thank goodness.
Her body moved, as if she was giving a sigh of relief.
[ I’m glad that you’re alright. ] She wrote on her note pad, only to put it and its pen within her pocket after Shinra had read it.
Her hands now free, Celty reached out and cupped Shinra’s cheeks between her palms. Gently, she tilted his head from side to side, as if she was inspecting him for injuries. He seemed physically fine, and was spouting his usual nonsense– so, he had to be fine, at least for the moment anyways…
Even if Shinra was fine, he was surprisingly calm given their situation. Was it just because they had found each other again? She paused, fishing her note pad out again, and idly lamented the loss of her PDA…
[ Do you know what’s going on here? We’re not in Ikebukuro, are we? ]
She hoped that someone as odd as Shinra could make sense of such an odd situation. Really, none of this made sense! It was almost like…
Her body tensed, and she flinched at her sudden thoughts.
[ Shinra! Were we abducted?! ]
The notion that the two of them had been the victims of an alien abduction quickly fueled her concerns– after all, if something like herself could exist, then why couldn’t aliens from outer space?
“Celty, there’s something important I need to tell you.”
Shinra said as he adjusted his glasses. The glare in front of his eyes made him look quite serious. Even though he was a silly person by nature, he was capable of changing his mood on a flip of a switch. That’s because it was all a performance for his dear celty. He leaned in to look at her writing now with a smile.
“Your handwriting is absolutely terrible! Ah, but in a cute way! You’re like one of those clumsy girls that are attractive for their clumsiness.”
He found every quality of Celty’s attractive just because they happened to belong to her, but that was neither here nor there. He looked at Celty’s confusion for a moment, and wondered if he should play the one to comfort her and hold her in his arms.
He knew the truth of this situation, because he had been in this city before but how much could he tell it. He did not want to worry Celty above all else, even though those months without her had been horrible for him.
“Hmm? I dunno! I don’t mind being in Ikebukuro though, because you’re my world Celty. So even if I’m transported to another world, as long as I’m with you I’m fine. My world is portable! and sexy!”
serutee:
@meganerdko
Upon entering this city, two main questions had plagued her thoughts: just what in the hell was going on, and just where was Kishitani Shinra? The former question was far too loaded, and far too confusing; so, her focus soon turned to the latter.
Where was Shinra? Was he alright? Was he in this strange city, too? Questions upon questions; anxiety upon anxiety.
She walked and ran, unable to stop her feet from moving as she searched for that doctor. If he was here, where was he? She couldn’t imagine being separated from him for too long, not after everything they’d been through.
Shinra…
Celty stopped in the middle of a busy intersection, pausing in her thoughts. Where was somewhere that Shinra, odd as he was, would head to first in a new city?
Paused with her jumble of thoughts, the Dullahan didn’t initially notice someone approach, not until she had suddenly been grabbed. Tendrils of smoky, black mist seeped from the bottom of her helmet with a start, and she reflexively reached to throw whomever it was away from her with her afforded strength.
Oh, that man was in a white coat, just like–
Shinra!
Only a moment after she had thrown him to the ground in her surprised anger, Celty lurched forward to embrace the doctor, both concerned and relieved all at once. It took a moment of grabbing at Shinra, and bumping her helmet against his face, before she could remember to fetch her new notepad and pen from her pocket and scribble upon it.
[ SHINRA! ARE YOU ALRIGHT?! ]
“Ah. I”m in this city again without Celty. The scientists sure are cruel keeping us apart. Well perhaps this is the story of how I become an old man in this city, waiting tragically for Celty to return home, and then on my death bed she returns to my side again and takes my hand and she’s the last thing I see and hold before I depart. Then in that case the waiting would be worth it!”
“Even if that’s a romantic dream though, I can’t stand even being five minutes apart from Celty. How about this time she’s the one doing the waiting. I work a really long day, but even though all I do is work with scum and lowlives I come home in a good mood because I know there’s a good girl waiting for me. The moment I walk through the door, I say ‘Honey I’m home’ and she says is the softest voice “Welcome home.’ I hear it, even though she dosn’t have a head to speak with because we’re connected by the heart. The language of love transcends the auditory capabilities of the brain. Then, when I turn the corner following her soft voice I see she’s waiting for me in a naked apron!”
Shinra continued to indulge his fantasies now that he found himself in this worthless city again. He had no judgement at all or particular attachment to his world, or even Ikebukuro, but any city that did not have Celty as a part of it was entirely worthless to him. He rolled around on a park bench muttering these fantasies to himself in order to keep going. This is how he made it through the last several months he had been in this city.
He rolled off the park bench, and stood up dusting off his pure white coat. He decided to walk back to his apartment now so he could at least write some of these fantasies down. He took a deep breath and muttered to himself along the way.
"Celty and I have not seen each other in a long time. I’m terrified of seeing her again, maybe she’s moved on, maybe she’s forgotten me. However, the moment we lock eyes, even though she doesn’t have any eyes, we instantly know that our feelings have remained the same all this time. She rushes at me, and we spin around in each other’s arms the world going in slow motion like in the movies. Relative time, einstein can be so romantic.”
As he finished his third monologue for the hour, suddenly he was grabbed from behind and turned around just like he predicted.
“Aaaaaaaaaah Ceeeeeeeeltttyyyyyyy.” He did not even need to see her face (though she didn’t have one) . However a moment later after reading her notepad, Shinra blinked. “Wait, where is your naked apron?”

☦ Huh, to be the only one from your world…That must definitely suck, and although Romanus didn’t say that out loud, it shows in his eyes. If Romanus wasn’t talking, he showed through body language. Eventually though, he chuckles when Shinra mentions having one friend, “It’s a good thing to have friends here…I mean, Hive City is full of all kinds of people. Wouldn’t want enemies, right?” There’s a small pause and then, “I came—” Shinra is still standing. He was actually thinking the guy would just take a seat, but oh well. Romanus gestures for the other to sit if he wished.
Shinra is going to learn a lot by his body movements, then. After all, as mentioned before, if Romanus wasn’t speaking, he showed…But even as he spoke, his body would show a different or more descriptive meaning to what he actually was saying. They do say that actions spoke louder than words, after all. “Oh yeah, I’ve been a multi-tasker all my life.” Literally, since he was able to walk and talk. He had been the multi-tasker. He pretty much had been a doctor for his mother since she began to come ill. “By the way, do you have a certain time that you need to head back out?” If not, then there’s no rush, right?
The explanation about the difference between the Clinic and back-alley doctors actually causes an interest in his eyes, “Huh. That’s pretty interesting.” That explained why a lot of the people back at home refused to go to an actual hospital. The people he hung around with…Those two friends of his never, not once, went to the hospital. They always went someplace else. Romanus never did follow them, they didn’t want that. So, he always stayed behind and waited. “The only difference about this clinic and other clinics is that….Well, we only take in none-humans.” Romanus has seen quite a few different kind of beings. He’s just waiting for spot another dragon, if anything—Maybe. He’s not so sure now.
“You’re right, in a way Hive City is very nostalgiac to me. You see my own world was also filled with what you would call a large collection of interesting and varied people, and they fought alot in the confines of one city in Ikebukuro. Meeting new people is just more of the same to me,” He said smiling. He could tell right away that Romanus was, a very detached and cool headed person that rarely spoke too much. At the same time he was also a responsible person. It reminded him of Dotachin and that thought made him smile. “Honestly if I had that one person in particular here, I wouldn’t mind the change of location so much. There are some people you just can’t live without thought right?”
Shinra was watching those body movements. Through his glasses, his eyes constantly flickered back and forth over Romanus. He meant nothing by it of course. It was his natural trained instinct as a doctor, he had to be observant and what not. “There’s no time I need to head back at all. The benefits of being self employed is that I can set m own schedule. If we run long though, it probably will be my fault though. You may not have noticed this yet, but I do have a habit of rambling.”
Shinra’s interest doubled too. It seemed they were both being drawn in by this escalated conversations of medical practices. Shinra was easy going in his own way, but there was one thing he did take seriously and that was his career as a doctor. If only because he also had been studying to be one since child. Though in a different way, Romanus was by his mother and him by his father. “Working on non humans how fascinating? Honestly my father did something similiar with the corporation he worked for. It was called Nebula, there was also Yagiri Pharmaceuticals which I did a few jobs for. They both studied non-humans though regrettably not always for the best of reasons. Which is why I never really followed in my father’s footsteps.”
“O-Oh… w.. well… “ She was positive that he did not mean his words to be hurtful. But she was positive that her feelings had still been hurt regardless. The marked difference between her and a human would always remain, no matter the shape her body was in. It was a fact that would always remain static. She’d never be able to respond as humanly as others could. “… No. You have nothing to apologize over.”
She walked after him, unsure if she should walk behind him or by his side. She remained close, at the very least. “Hmm… well… I have a phone. I would be able to anwer any calls for you. I’m also able to record back what has been said to me. You wouldn’t have to take notes if I am around.” she frowned, putting a hand to lips. It was surprisingly difficult to think of how she could be useful. This was entirely different from helping out a soldier or a lost child.
“I could advertise as well? Heh, perhaps even wear a costume and a sign…”
“I’m sorry nonetheless! I’m really sorry, totally sorry, I’ll get on my knees in public if you want, in fact I’ll bow down to you right now!” Shinra said, dancing in front of her, and swooping into a great bow, before he glided away on his feet once again. As always his gestures were far too theatrical and overdone, but that was just simply how he was as a person. His eyes fell back on PF. He was far too observant. Even when he seemed oblivious.
“Ooooh, I hate taking notes they always give me the worst cramps. You don’t want your hands to cramp during surgery that’s just unpleasant for both parties. How about this, I’ll talk and you just listen for now and if I need help on something I’ll ask for it.” He was smiling. “The downside however is that you’ll have to listen to me talk about how lovely Celty is over and over again.”
Shinra leaned in and smiled. “Ooooh a costume and a sign. How do you feel about nurse outfits? Though we’re trying to attract crimminals so maybe you should dress like a gangster instead? Which era though a classic 1930s one, or a modern? Maybe even a yankee to get those youth customers in.”
A bunch of thugs with guns trying to shoot each other is an easy enough thing to put down. It takes a bit longer than your normal fight as you try to keep an eye on everyone and their guns, making sure no one gets a shot off, but it’ll still only take a minute, two max. You slam your fist into one’s head, turning away before he collapses to the ground. You grab the arm of another and throw him over your shoulder. As he makes a graceful arc in the air and a not so graceful fall to the ground, your eyes land on a very familiar doctor. Your eyes widen, mouth hanging open, and for a split second you freeze. What is he doing?! You’re fighting guys with guns here and he’s casually walking up like it’s nothing.
“Orphan,” you insist before slamming your foot into a man’s stomach. You turn away from Shinra to slam a gun out of a fourth man’s hands. Have to get this done quickly now, before someone aims a shot at Shinra’s head. You try to zone him out (not a difficult task when you still have to work through what others are saying and what it means) as you run at a man. You leap off the ground and knee him to the face, landing easily in a crouch. You flip onto your hands and slam your feet into the the faces of two men who were trying to surround you. A few more kicks and punches and all the men are down. You quickly take the guns apart and tie up the men before turning towards Shinra.
You scowl deeply and stomp over to him. Without warning, you throw him over your shoulder and begin to walk away from the unconscious men. That was such a stupid move, walking into one of your fights. What if you’d been too focused on the men to notice someone trying to hurt him? He was lucky this time. “What… Thinking? …Dangerous.”
“You’re an orphan? That’s really sad to hear actually.” Shinra said, not understanding at all. Just anything, about this whole situation. He was observant of course, he had figured out that Cass was continuing her habit as a costumed street fighter, these men were crimminals, they were armed and she had a particular distate for guns from the way she fought them. He could even deduce the fact that she was also aiming nonlethally when she fought with many of these men, which was just nice. “You’re attacking to injure but not to kill these men, you really are a kind person!” Shinra observed and commented without being asked.
The most obvious fact of all though, the fact that he was in danger did not even seem to occur to him. Even when a gun was pointed at his head, all he did was smile and wave at the man. He hummed to himself waiting patiently until the bout was over. When Cass came up to him, he walked past her for a moment, ignoring her too and pulling out a card. “Kishitani medical services, if you ever get beat up and can’t go to a legal hospital I’m your best bet. Even if you’re crimminals I wouldn’t want you to die after all, I will be charging you double however.” He dropped the card on the men though since they were unconscious.
When he finished, he simply turned and walked back to Cassandra. “Oh, what’s with that face?” he said reading the lines behind her mask and the way her feet had stomped up to him. “Is that anger born out of concern for me? You really are a kind person, but there’s no reason to worry right, I’m not hurt at all. So did you play that video game yet?” He did not seem like he was going to learn his lesson at all.
☦ Oh yeah, he’s prepared to meet this guy again. Maybe this time, they’ll get to know each other more or something. Although Shinra has aided Romanus when he first arrived, there’s not much he knows about the guy. Like, actually he just found out that he’s an underground doctor! What a cute character Shinra will be. Romanus smooths out one of the beds and that’s when Shinra walks in with that smile and a wave. There’s a light chuckle and Romanus is waving back, “Yo.”
Got it. There’s no ill-will or anything. Not that Romanus was suspecting of such things from Shinra, actually. Just doesn’t seem like the type, (But you never know, right?) He approaches the man when he begins talking. It was definitely over-explained, but Romanus wasn’t going to be that guy who’d cut someone off, because of it. Anyway, eventually Shinra finished and honestly, Romanus can’t help but release a light laugh, “Hey, don’t worry about it. I mean…The city is pretty big and there’s a helluva lot of people. Different people, too.” He shrugs, “Since the city is huge, you might even get a chance to meet someone you know,” Probably someone from his home, maybe? Perhaps that’s who he’s looking for? Who knows?
Romanus is taking a seat, watches Shinra for a moment. Don’t worry Shinra, Romanus can’t be serious either. At least not right now and it shows, how he’s leaning back against his seat with one leg over and just…in a more relaxed way, but not in a bratty, douche-baggy way, of course. “You know how people build friendship? It’s by working together AND chit-chatting.” He says with a nod, “S’why kids get in trouble in class when they’re partnered up.” Then he gives Shinra a thumb’s up. Wow.
“Anyway, yeah—Uhm,” Now he straightens his body out, but not out of the fact he thinks he needs to be serious now or he’s uncomfortable. It’s more of a focus thing, “I don’t think you have.” He needs all the advice and information he can get, actually. “You want to share that? I’d really appreciate it.”
Was he really though? Shinra was definitely going to try to learn more about Romanus or maybe he would just talk about himself. He was not too particular on the details, either result would be fine to him. It would be more than fine, he intended to have fun. “I was definitely hoping for something like that, you know I’m the only person from my world currently in this universe, that’s a little sad don’t you think. I must seem like a real lonely guy but ahh, just kidding, I do have one friend.”
There he was over explaining again. As Shinra talked about his own sadness and loneliness he did so wearing the brightest smile on his face. Who was his one friend though, Shinra purposefully left that detail out. He was a friendly person indeed but, a harder person to befriend than one might think. Shinra had been standing and was sitll standing even after Romanus took a seat. Should he take that as an invitation to sit? Shinra really did wonder, but standing was so much fun, it allowed him to gesture more eaisly while he talked so he stayed as he was.
“You’re right we have to work and chit chat, have you ever heard of aristotle’s theory of extremes Happiness is achieved not in an extreme of one way or another, but intstead a happy medium of both extemes, so we’ll chat and work. I’m sure we’re both great multi-taskers anyway, it’s a necessity of being a doctor.” He really did have a habit of going on tangents, but as he was talking he observed the casual way he held his body, and how he straightened. Shinra tended to watch, people’s bodies more than their faces anyway.
“Of course I can sharing is caring after all. A back alley doctor simply put is a doctor who operates outside of the law. I attend patients who can’t usually go to hospitals, for whatever reasons. Sometimes it’s a matter of privacy and I get to heal pop stars, other times it’s crimminals who were injured while breaking the law. I don’t really mind either way, everybody needs a doctor sometimes after all.”
@idontkill
Shinra was having a nice walk home through sector three. He was probably one of the few who would say that, but Shinra had a habit of being oblivious to the environments around him. This would be, yet another example to prove that to be true. In the dark of the night wearing a bright white lab coat made him stick out like a sore thumb. He would be much stealthier if he wore black.
However, he did not seem to have any problem at all picking someone else out from a few other people surrounding her even though she wore all black. “Hello Cass! What are you doing here at this hour?” He asked, even though it was obvious. She was fighting crime once again. Shinra accepted this fact with an odd amount of casualness as usual. In fact he was so nonchalant he simply walked up into the middle of the fray, sidestepping a man Cass threw in his direction.
“Hey, while you’re here let’s catch up. Did you finish playing that game I lent you yet? I see your leg has healed alright though from the way you just kicked that man. Oh, I probably should have checked up on your leg before I asked about the video game, one wonders about my priorities as a doctor.” He babbled, seemingly oblivious to what was happening around him.
Kyohei wants to thank Celty - Durarara!!x2 Shou - Episode 4 Requested by @dotaccino
Between time spent at her publication company and working with Aogiri, the author was also obligated to spend at least one day out of the week at the city’s university. Her class was online and very small, so any work she needed to do specifically at the institution didn’t take her more than an hour or two. What was she left to do with the remaining time required to be spent in her office?
The answer was simple: whatever she could.
Usually, she spent time working and compiling her notes, reading, or finding something completely menial to do. Today it was a mix of all three; she’d finished the only book she’d brought along, and skimming through her notes only took an hour. Surfing the internet on her desk computer got boring when she knew there was someone monitoring the history professors went on.
So, she’d have to find something else in her remaining hours for the day.
Eto had been going in between texting one of her neighbors in particular, specifically sending him screenshots of the cat-themed game they were both fans of and discussing it as well, and throwing pencils she found in her office space at the ceiling. She shared the office with two other professors, one of which she had seen only once, so there was hardly a shortage of pencils.
Several pencils were already crammed into the ceiling, her precision unparalleled. Another was already in her hand when suddenly the door slammed open, and a cascade of pencils rained down on both her and the intruder. She hardly flinched, knowing that the pencils weren’t nearly enough to puncture ghoul skin. Yet, Takatsuki Sen was a human, so she did put up a hand over her head in an attempt to shield herself from pencils that ended up just bouncing off of her.
What a familiar situation.
“Oh, if you’re looking for Ushiromiya Battler…. You’re in the wrong office. Clearly.”
She wondered how long it would take this man to notice the plastic name plate on her desk that read ‘Takatsuki Sen’.
“Ahhh, sorry, sorry. I didn’t mean it in a mean way.”
Shinra said almost immediately. The strange part though was that seemed genuine. Shinra made observations without any particular judgement attached to them, and had a habit of just running his mouth and speaking them out loud. His carelessness showed in the way he did not even bother to dodge the pencils that rained down. Not that he was stronger than them, no, they very easily pierced his skin, but he kept talking even while a line of blood ran down his face.
Like he did not even notice. He was just a person who really enjoyed talking. “Well, if Battler’s gone at least I can meet you. I hope you don’t mind if I use you as his replacement. The name’s Shinra Kishitani-Des!” As he said this he posed with two fingers over his glasses, having to close one eye because the blood ran in a line over it, and then down his cheek.
“Introductions, introductions, well I’m a doctor but I don’t just limit myself to discussions of science. I also like the paranormal, myths and legends. I like books as well. I like video games sometimes too. I really like Ruri Hijiribe. I think I like a lot of things.”
His speech did a weird thing just then, each time he referred to himself he switched the personal pronoun he used, from boku, to watashi, to watakushi, to ore, almost as if he were cycling through them.
“Anyway, it’s nice to meet you, miss, huh? Do you want me to notice something?” Shinra had been oblivious to a lot of things, and genuinely too. The nameplate on her door, the office number, the fact that he was currently bleeding. However the moment she gave the slightest unconscious indication with her body, he read her easily, and anounced that fact like he considered it a part of the conversation.
He followed her eyes to the nameplate on her desk. Then Shinra did an odd thing, he clapped his hands together and showed her a smile that seemed to invite others in. “Oooooh, Takatuski Sen. I would really be honored to have a conversation with you.”

☦ {Text To Shinra Kishitani: Alright. By time you get here, the supplies should be ready. See you in a bit.}
Done. Cellphone is placed on his desk and he’s leaning back against his seat. Head shifts to look at the cabinets, “Okay…Let’s see what he said he needed.” So then he’s leaning over to grab his phone again to pull out the list of items on his phone, “mmmmm,” scalpels, anesthesia….Fingers are hovering over the list and he’s slowly rising from his seat to grab the medical supplies.
Sharing is caring.
After a short time, he’s got items laid out carefully across one of the tables, “Alright. Now to wait for him,” A nod and a satisfied smile. There’s nothing better than helping someone in need. Sometimes. Ah, he could go for a smoke, but holds the temptation back. He has to wait. What if he stepped out and Shinra came in and Romanus isn’t here? That wouldn’t be good.
He’ll give the medicals a once over, making sure that he’s grabbed everything that was listed. Hell, he’s even given a few extras just in case the other would need it. He’s met Shinra Kishitani before. That was when Romanus had first arrived at Hive City. That time, Shinra did help him in some way. It was only right that he’d repay the favor, right? Besides, the both of them were doctors. Doctors should have each others back!
He hears doors opening and will turn fully to look, “Oh, there you are. Was just thinking about you.” He greets the other with a grin, “Thought you got lost or somethin’.” He’s only messing around, of course.
Shinra probably should have replied more professionally, but this is all he ended up sending.
[Txt]: (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧ OH BOY
If that did not mentally prepare Romanus for Shinra then nothing would. The term ‘underground doctor’ immediately made one think of a mad scientist, but Shinra was nothing of the sort. He was in fact quite happy. It was obvious in the way he carried himself, the wide smile, and the spontaneous waving as he entered the room.
He wanted to make sure Romanus knew he was being friendly. He really was grateful for the supplies. Sharing was caring after all.
“I hope I wasn’t too late, I just have this habit of getting lost in the city. I pick it up from my old friend, he called himself an observer of crowds, what a nosy guy huh? I don’t really like to observe people that much though, it’s more like I just want to check and see if I run into anybody familiar.” Even thugh Shinra overexplained himself and his reason for being late, it did not seem quite as clear.
He was definitely one of those guys who said a lot of words, babbled and babbled without really saying anything at all. Shinra considered Romanus and acquaintance, and it was rare for him to talk to a colleague so perhaps he had just gotten a bit overexcited for this conversation. He took a breath to calm down.
“So I was lost, but now I’m found. Lucky right? Anyway down to busines, though if you want to chat and do business at the same time I’m perfectly fine too. I’m not sure if you can tell this about me but I’ve never been the most serious person.” Shinra finally took a seat, and he tried his best to look serious as he crossed his legs but it really was just not for him. So he relaxed again. “I should probably start by asking for your inventory, but I’m just curious. Did I ever explain the difference to you between a clinic doctor and a back alley docotr?”
