You aren’t sure why the possibility of staying at the same hotel as Lara and her members didn’t cross your mind. Of course, you knew you’d eventually have to meet the other members of Katseye, and even though the scenario of you meeting the five other girls had played out in your head about a thousand times, that didn't make the drive to the hotel any less terrifying.
Fortunately, Lara seems to notice your uneasiness and playfully nudges your arm, interrupting your thoughts. “There’s no need to be nervous Y/N, I promise,” she gives you a reassuring smile as you turn towards her. Her eyes still gleam even in the dim lighting of the backseat. “The others have practically been begging to meet you, honestly. Besides, I can’t imagine you leaving a bad impression on anyone.”
You exhale slowly and return Lara’s smile. You still can’t wrap your head around how easily she can calm you down. It’s all so confusing. The girl you once lost your mind over can now calm your nerves with only a few words. Though the entire situation has confused your nervous system, there is no one to blame but yourself.
The car comes to a stop and you step out of it to open the door for Lara. Just in case any cameras are around, you tell yourself. The driver informs you that the staff will take your bags up to your room shortly, and you thank him. Lara wraps her arm around you in a familiar manner as you two begin to walk into the hotel lobby. It's fancier than any place you’ve ever stayed in, but you expect nothing less for the girl group.
After you check in and make your way up to the 5th floor, Lara guides you down the hall and in front of a door that you assume belongs to one of her members. You can hear laughter coming from the other side of the door, and you take a deep breath in an attempt to calm yourself down. Lara turns to you and takes your hand into hers, giving it a reassuring squeeze. You're glad she turns to knock on the door, as the gesture immediately has blood rushing to your face.
The girl who opens the door is about Lara’s height, wearing a headband to keep her black hair from falling over her face. Sophia, the name pops into your head as you register the woman in a navy blue hoodie and grey sweats standing in front of you. The older girl’s face lights up in recognition.
“Oh my god, Hi!” Sophia immediately invites you both inside. “I’ve been begging to meet you forever, you don’t even know.” As soon as you walk in, you see two other girls sitting upright on one of the hotel beds, scrolling on their phones. “Dani! Megan! Look who's here!” The girls look up from their phones and immediately smile at the sight of you.
“Oh, hi!” Daniela slips off the hotel bed and comes over to you. Unexpectedly, she leans in and wraps her arms around you in a firm hug, she smells so strongly of vanilla. “We’ve heard so much about you.” Daniela pulls away first, then throws a playful glance at Lara. Megan greets you as well, offering a quick hug and a sweet smile.
“Where are Manon and Yoonchae?” Lara questions.
“I think they went out to get some snacks, they should be back in a few, but in the meantime… come sit, please Y/N!” Sophia walks over to an idle couch and sits, and you follow briefly. Lara plants herself on one of the hotel beds in front of you.
“So… you really dated Lara?”
“Megan!” Lara scolds the younger girl.
“What!? I just want to get to know her!” Megan held up her arms before the pillow that Lara flung at her face could hit her.
“Sorry about them. They act like children when they are together, which is most of the time,” Sofia whispers to you. “Anyway, your new single comes out tomorrow right?”
“Mhm! To be honest, I am really nervous. I feel like every time I release something, everyone will hate it so much and I'll be… drivin out of the industry or something.” You let out an awkward laugh.
“Girl, trust me, we know the feeling,” Daniela chimes in. “Your music fucking rocks though! I'm like, a hundred percent sure that this next song is gonna be number one on the charts!” She’s exaggerating, of course, but you appreciate her kind words.
Then, a knock at the door startles you. “Dani, let us in!” You recognize the voice as Manon’s. Besides Lara, Manon is the member you see the most of on social media. Megan gets up to open the door for the last two girls.
As soon as Manon lays her eyes on you, her jaw drops. “There is no way!” She and Yoonchae walk into the room and place the plastic bags full of snacks down on a bedside table. “I'm like your biggest fan, I swear! It's so nice to meet you.” She makes her way over to you and hugs you, similar to Daniela.
“Lara has told us a lot about you!” Yoonchae chimes in, her voice gentle and kind.
“Oh, really?” You ask in a playful tone.
A blush creeps up on Lara’s cheeks. “I have too! Don’t want them revealing our team’s P.R. strategy or… anything.” She tries to play it off, but the other members are entirely unconvinced.
The rest of the evening goes better than you expected. Being around the girls fills you with a feeling of fondness. Not only do they spew constant words of affirmation to you, but their humor has your stomach in pain from how hard they leave you laughing. The connection the girls share seems entirely unbreakable. Sure, their personalities do clash once in a while, but that's what makes the group so balanced.
Not to mention the way Lara’s face lights up when she's around them. You've seen Lara’s eyes display all types of emotions, but they sparkle differently compared to when she's just around you. Not that one is inferior to the other, just different.
The night comes to an end when Sophia declares you should all get some sleep, and you bid your farewells to the girls. Lara walks you to your room in silence, a tender smile plastered on her face.
She leans against the wall as you stop to unlock your door. “So, what’d you think?” Her voice is low and sweet.
“Of the girls?” You raise an eyebrow at her, “I think they are lovely, Lara.”
Lara lets out a soft laugh and bites her lip, your heart stutters. “They loved you too, told you so,” you roll your eyes at the taller girl, “good luck tomorrow, by the way. I’m sure the single will do great.” Her words are genuine, but it feels as if there is something more to be said. Something to be said about who the song is about, what the song is about.
“Goodnight, Lara.” The words are far from what you want to say, but they come out in a panic.
“Goodnight, Y/N.” Lara looks at you one last time with that gleam in her eye, the one only meant for you, and then you are separated by the hotel door.
It’s going to be a long weekend, you think.
