Tragedies indeed. He could only imagine how much misfortune would have to fall on his own team for him to wind up in charge. Though, if this Yosuke’s team is anything like his own, there hasn’t been too much suffering. Though any at all is too much. He wants to ask who it is he lost, but figures that’s far too much to ask. He’s sure he’ll figure out on his own eventually.

“That’s… I’m sorry to hear that.”

Now it’s awkward, and he flounders for a new topic. His gut tells him to avoid talk about the team, but he’s not sure if they really have anything besides their friends in common. This Yosuke is older than him, not that may aren’t, but he’s probably done with the case now. He can’t say much about that either. He refuses to be that guy who talks about work anyway.

He’s been quiet for too long now and his search for a topic becomes more desperate, he just spits out the next words that come to mind.

“So how- uhm. What have you been up to?”

He doesn’t know when he became so outrageously bad at this.

━ ║▌║█║▌ what he's been up to, huh ? being honest to himself, he didn't know. things went by fast after narukami died. the events of the p-1 grand prix, then the p-1 climax following up with mitsuru-san's group being captured and the whole deal with the whole ending just because of a kid's solitude. now, there's been sightings of alternate parallel selves from him and his crew, including the one in front of him. even the sudden memories from the labyrinths with zen and rei resurfaced as if they escaped from the bottomless pit in his mind; released of the chains that held them down.

yosuke was quiet for a few moments before he just groaned in reply, ❝ nothing really. everything after that tragedy just went absolutely crazy. ❞

━ ║▌║█║▌ feeling a cold touch on the nape of his neck, he couldn't help but let out a small yelp as he turned to whoever was playing such a prank. during work, he'd always get played by anyone who wants to mess with him. children to the ages of the adults, it's like the whole world is trying to aim attacks at him. what did he do to deserve all of this ? all he did was work at junes.

turning to face the so-called prankster, the brunet huffed out with his arms crossed over his chest. ❝ listen here, you ! if you needed something, you could of...-- ❞ he trailed off when he recognized that apathetic expression from anywhere. ❝ a--a... arisato-senpai ?! ❞ he knew that the elder was older than him by two years, so he stuck to the formal terms. but this was a surprise to see the guy here at junes, in inaba. yosuke thought he'd be at least at the place with the shadow operatives.

❝ w--what are you doing here, arisato-senpai ? shouldn't you be with mitsuru-san and the shadow operatives, instead of being here at junes ? ❞

━ ║▌║█║▌ headcanon;speaks && after the events of yu narukami's death, yosuke remembered memories that were supposed to be forgotten and left behind. these memories are from the place in the rift of time, the haven in the rift of time, when he and the rest of the investigation team, along with narukami where he met with s.e.e.s, zen and rei. he remembers the events and time he spent there in the so-called culture festival at the place he calls yasogami high.

yosuke's current time line is after the events of the p-1 climax; when he met the shadow operatives, he instantly recognized them as the group he met a few years back. however, he had questions why two people were missing, their leader, minato arisato, and shinjiro aragaki. he didn't want to bring the topic up just in case the shadow operatives had lost their leader just how the investigation team did. for aragaki-san, he didn't know what happened with him.

but he still wants to know what happened to time, however, he keeps the questions down within him. no one in the shadow operatives or mitsuru's group recognized them when they first met. it was like they never met at all. margaret did say that everyone would was in that rift would of forgotten all their memories of that place. forgotten being such a strong word, yosuke knew that the memories were actually locked away in his mind that all of a sudden he remembered these events. it was like the death of his partner was the key of the padlocks of these memories.

yosuke knows that everyone in the investigation team doesn't have these memories anymore. he doesn't understand why it's only him with these memories suddenly resurfacing, but all he knows is that he met the shadow operatives in a much, much early time.
