An open message to Kirbopher from “Niro Rose”:
You remember, the guy who did voice over work for you when you were a teenager. The guy who spent years working beside you on projects? The guy that you tossed aside the second you got in good enough with “professional” voice actors? The guy that had writing credits in a number of your works?
The guy that literally wrote sketches for Nin-10-DOH for you? The guy that you literally never paid for any ounce of work?
I’d say I’m disappointed in your actions, Chris, but to be quite honest, it’s simply par for the course for your behavior. Since you were a teenager, you’ve always been a self-obsessed, narcissistic, myopic individual, riding on the coattails of anyone you could attempt to springboard off of into “fame”. And boy, have you sure managed to snake your way into the industry, haven’t you? But do the casting directors know what it took for you to get there? The backs you stepped on? The friendships you broke? The string of people who thought that they could trust you being proven absolutely wrong? Do they know how you used and abused your own positions of privilege and power to manipulate people?
Do they know that you’re just like Beaubien?
Do they know that you’re just like John K?
Do they know that you’re just like Skyler Page?
And I know how you must feel, Chris, I do. It’s easy to get defensive, it’s easy to shut down, and claim that it’s not your fault, that you’re a product of your environment, it’s so simple. But you and I both know it’s not true.
You and I both know that that’s been your M.O. since you were a teenager, and that hasn’t changed yet. And while I cannot speak for what you’ve done to other people, I can speak for what you’ve done to me.
Because of you, I gave up on any hopes I had of pursuing a career in voice over, because you made me believe I was never good enough.
Because of you, I hate the sound of my own voice when I’m even doing voices for my D&D group.
Because of you, I stopped trying to pursue any form of content creation, for fear of becoming -like- you.
But you did teach me one thing, Chris. One valuable lesson that I will take with me to my grave. You taught me the value of a written contract. You taught me that if I ever want to be able to use work that I’ve done for others, I better have it in writing.
You taught me that if I ever want to get paid for the work I’ve done, I better put it in writing. And you taught me to never put my faith in business relationships, because more often than not, I’ll end up with someone’s bootprint on my back as they use me like a stepping stone, just like you did.
So I’ll continue to wait for an apology that will never come, and continue to cringe as every new show gets a dub, or every new game announces it’s voice cast, hoping and praying I don’t hear your voice in it, so I can actually purchase it and enjoy it.
I’d say have a nice life, but I really don’t mean it. I just want you to go away and stop popping up in things I’d like to enjoy like the worst case of herpes.
