The Lebanon Explosion
On the afternoon of August 4th, two explosions occurred in the capital of Lebanon, Beirut. This devastating event caused over 5,000 casualties in the area, with at least 137 killed (more expected deaths to come). The largest, second blast is believed to be caused by the first explosion detonating over 2,500 tons of explosive ammonium nitrate stored in a warehouse on the port. It is said that the second explosion could be felt in Cyprus which is 150 miles away from where the explosion occurred. If you would like to donate, please donate to the Lebanese Red Cross. Lebanese citizens have expressed their distrust in the government to do the right thing with donations, so the Lebanese Red Cross is believed to be the most reliable source to donate to.
