I feel guilty about buying a new pair of running shoes even though over the last several years I have run mine to shit and literally have to replace them if I want to continue to exercise bc they are barely even shoes anymore

keep thinking about my dream of being a bat. it seems significant to me for stupid reasons, namely bc I am also very small and my vision is extremely poor lol. in the dream I remember being on the roof and running toward the edge of it and jumping off the corner, and I floated through the air and transformed bc I had "believed" and had run without hesitation. I spun around a few times and below me there was a dark blue expanse of lakewater and then I arrived at the city and started to fly between buildings. but the city was completely blacked out and it looked like people had abandoned their homes and vehicles en masse at the same time, because there were cars all over the road but they weren't moving and were empty of people . so I just flew around looking, looking, "seeing" I assume by using echolocation since everything was in total darkness
google returned a few things for bats in dreams but nothing about actually transforming into one. bats are supposed to represent doom and gloom but I just don't think that's true because in the dream I felt brave and liberated. the only positive interpretation I found was "rebirth" but that idea exhausts me bc I've gone through what feels like so many hundred phases of becoming "different" to myself
according to that nature doc I watched bats are the most skilled fliers in the world, better than any kind of bird or bug, bc their wings are also their hands. I want to be the best at something, too

what does it mean to dream about transforming into a bat? it was a very good, tho slightly eerie dream. lots of flying and spinning thru the air....

Women have been driven insane, and “gaslighted,” for centuries by the refutation of our experience and our instincts in a culture which validates only male experience. The truth of our bodies and our minds has been mystified to us. We therefore have a primary obligation to each other: not to undermine each others’ sense of reality for the sake of expediency; not to gaslight each other.Women have often felt insane when cleaving to the truth of our experience. Our future depends on the sanity of each of us, and we have a profound stake, beyond the personal, in the project of describing our reality as candidly and fully as we can to each other. … When a woman is telling the truth she is creating the possibility for more truth around her.
