“I have all these OCs! But no story…”
bruh
make a fighting game
But what if half your ocs are softys and not made for fighting?
dating sim
this post changed the game
Hey btw if you don’t know how to program, you should check out [novelty], which is a free Visual Novel creation software. Absolutely no programming required, and it’s super easy to use, I played with it some when I was a teen but the only reason I didn’t do much with it is cuz I made my story complicated and had like 5000 different branching routes that kept spawning new routes and made myself confused LMAO
But yeah, it’s a WYSIWYG with a really straight-forward GUI, if I remember correctly.
It even comes with some free backgrounds and characters and stuff, and this is what it looks like:
Did I mention it’s super duper free? It hasn’t been updated since 2010, but it has basically all you’d need to make a simple visual novel.
Just make sure your DirectX runtime is updated, cuz it can act buggy if it’s outdated, but this program is so old that I doubt it’d even be an issue lol
holy shit
This is so cool? Can you imagine fanfic in this format?
@becausedragonage @ashidoodle can I recommend Choice Script? It’s like a choose your own adventure coding program. The finished product looks like this, where every option sends you down a different path:
They are literally books you can play. You can even insert your own character’s name and pronouns and that would make writing reader inserts so much easier And as a writer who can not art, writing and making dating sims and games is more convenient.
The coding is also super simple and easy to learn and all it requires other than the program files is a text editor. And just like that you can start typing up like you would your own fanfics or stories. Plus it’s very versatile so you can make your game/book as simple or as complicated as you want, and even implement stats and inventory systems.
AND CHOICE SCRIPT IS ALSO SUPER DUPER FREE. THE COMPANY EVEN PUBLISHES YOUR FINISHED GAME FOR YOU AND GIVES YOU ROYALTIES IF YOU CHOOSE TO SELL IT. THE PROGRAM STILL GETS UPDATED AND THE COMPANY PUBLISHES BOOKS EVERY MONTH INCLUDING THE FANMADE ONES. THERE’S ALSO A FORUM FOR PEOPLE TO POST WIPS AND TALK ABOUT CHOICE SCRIPT AND GET HELP.
And there’s Ren'py, also for visual novels!
@raimeyl @mexicanesecat 👀
Holy shit
Ooooof I’m gonna use thessee
For any burgeoning digital storytellers/narrative game devs out there! :)
Also good ol’ Twine is incredibly easy to learn for text games with multiple choices! You don’t even need to deal with images if you don’t want to and it works in the browser (there’s also a downloadable version) and it generates html files that you can play in your browser.
Anyway if you want excuses/community for making visual novels NaNoRenO is about to start (March2022 for those reading this message in the future.) on itch.io (like nanowrimo, but about visual novels!)
✨♿Wheelchair Drawing Tutorial♿✨
aaand it's finished! An artist's guide to custom rigid frame wheelchairs! This is completely free to use, reference, and save. Reblogs are welcome but please do not repost without permission and credit. Have fun, lovelies!
Okay who the fuck tagged this as anime, it’s a tutorial on how to draw wheelchair
sometimes people draw anime.
u are correct! any art can include a wheelchair! it would be very cool to see anime artists include them! here are some of my anime ones
I feel like this is an accurate depiction of their dynamic, right?
i just think tadashi's forehead is very kissable
sk8 finale and stone ocean confirmed im really losing it rn
miya claiming them as his dads
“INSTANT LINE ART” TRICK FOR THIN AND NOODLY THINGS:
Just draw your thin, noodly things as thick brush lines
Select their whole area
Find the “increment” feature if it’s present in your art program, which expands the size of a selection. I clicked it a couple times to make an increment of a couple pixels.
On a lower layer, fill that area in black.
Now it looks like your shapes had line art all along!!!
On an UPPER layer, try fleshing out little details and touching up anything that came out wonky.
A friend shared this on facebook and I’m putting it here for reference.
This is extremely helpful, provided you know what the fuck Adobe’s icons mean these days. If you don’t, hey, fun guessing game!
(This is, to be clear, more a dunk on Adobe’s shitty iconography than OP)
/rubs hands together/ ok, lets break down each of these icons
Ps: Photoshop - photo editing and drawing
Ai: Illustrator - vector graphics editor and design program
An: Animate
Id: In-Design - publishing and typesetting layout program
Substance: 3D software
Lr: Lightroom - photo editing for large numbers of photos
XD: vector tools for web and mobile apps
Au: Audition - sound editor
Pr: Premier Pro - video editor
Ae: After Effects - video post-production tool
Dw: Dreamweaver - website developer
Descriptions I pulled from minor googling, I’ve only used maybe a thirds of these programs before so if I defined any of them wrong, my bad!
A Twitter thread of mine that I think some of you may find useful here as well! I’ll update this periodically when I update the Twitter thread.
What an incredible post!
do you have your brush settings, or the texture you use, posted anywhere?
hello! lately i’ve been using the watercolor option in paint tool sai:
first you make a new layer and change the texture to Watercolor A
then you adjust the effect to Fringe and set the width to 2
the brush i use is just a normal watercolor brush, appropriately named “i can’t believe its not watercolor”
and there you have it! it feels smooth to paint with, and the texture looks SO nice!
your art is so expressive and bouncy, i love it so, so much. do u have any tips for creating more effective + exaggerated expressions in characters?
OOOHDJSHSGSHSK THANK YOU!! I feel so honored that ppl want art advice from me-
I'm not exactly the best at explaining things but ill tell you some stuff to keep in mind while drawing!!
Line of action
The line of action is the direction in which your character moves. When trying to create a more fluid and expressive pose, try to keep the line of action as smooth as possible. For example:
The line of action here (the teal line) is very curvy. The person shown here wants to squash that bug, but isn't very into it.
Here however, the line of action shows that this person absolutely DESPISES that bug and is dead set on killing that thing (also dont get me wrong, i like bugs but this was the first example i thought of lol). A smoother line of action within your character poses helps get the point of your pose across easier.
Expression variation
When drawing character expressions, try and go further by trying to show what division of that emotion they are feeling. What i mean by this is; say for example your character is happy. Sure you can go ahead and draw a regular happy face, but take it a step further by showing Why they are happy.
These are happy expressions, but the reason why they are happy can be shown too!
As for figuring out how to draw different expressions, im still figuring that out myself and all i can say is practice!! I have bunches of pages in my sketchbook dedicated to expression practice. I also find it easier to draw a certain expression by making the same face as the face im trying to draw.
Color shading
The color palette/ shading of your drawing can greatly affect the vibe your drawing gives off. All i have to say about this is to SHADE WITH ANALAGOUS COLORS!! Analagous colors are colors directly beside each other on the color wheel. Using those kinds of colors makes your art itself more vibrant.
In example A, analagous colors were used and in example B, black and white tones are used. Ex. A is more bright and sticks out more than Ex. B, at least to me it does. ( I guess this part is more of a stylistic choice rather than concrete information on art in general, but i think it looks better)
/ / / / /
This is all the information I really have, but i hope it helps!! And once again thank you for asking! While im not a professional it really is an honor for my art to be considered good enough that ppl ask me for advice aaaaaa!!!!!
Hurry, Hurry
Yes. Hello. This is Ibarra and he pisses me off.
Jk, I love him.
