thoughts:

it's not too far-fetched to assume ogHikaru didn't like headpats, since "Hikaru" complained about it (obviously *he* isn't the one with the dislike for headpats)

I wonder if, by the time they were teens, Yoshiki's rough headpats became less of an affectionate gesture and more of a way to establish himself to Hikaru who's been unconsciously policing his masculinity (using height to his advantage, as "Hikaru" points out)
