I think I’m learning that yes people show love in different ways, but sometimes they expect other people to understand their way of loving without explanation. Or they don’t recognize that their way of loving is not coming across as love. So for example, what one thinks is tough love might not be presenting as tough love to the recipient. It might come off as demeaning and insulting. Or other forms of love might feel like nagging instead of caring. So we end up rejecting someone’s love accidentally and closing ourselves up to people who had good intentions. And yeah good intentions are not always enough but sometimes it changes our perspective. So I think communicating why you’re saying or acting or responding to something in a certain way can bring you closer to somebody you care about. It can prevent some major fights. Communication can bring clarity - you don’t have to run from it.
