Edit : It’s Saul, not Johnny in the video. I’m not deleting the post because it’s still relevant (just think of the rooftop scene at the Arasaka Industrial Park). Thanks @xxladyloganxx for the correction !
I’m relieved that Goro is at the bar with all the other characters in the game’s 5th anniversary trailer. Seeing him next to Johnny always makes me think. They’re positioned as rivals : whether it’s their social status, their ideals, their way of thinking or acting. But if you look closer, they also share similarities : they both follow their convictions to the very end, and they were both crushed by the system (a kid sent to war far too young, forced to deal with trauma alone and the other, poor and without a future, shaped to belong to a Corpo).
V can genuinely influence both of them, whether it’s the Temperance ending for Johnny (even if the question is more subtle did he really change thanks to V, or is it due to the fusion of their minds and the way they feel emotions ? (A vast question open to interpretation) and the Phantom Liberty ending for Goro (The Devil ending doesn’t let us see far enough into the future to know whether V had any impact on Goro’s life).
I think I really would’ve liked to hear them talk to each other. Their conversations could’ve been fascinating.
