You know I’m not broken, right?
outlawintheredhood:
“I’m undead and surviving on bloodlust - what am I if not a vampire?” Jason argued again, quirking an eyebrow at her as if awaiting a rebuttal, before frowning as she moved away the glass he had nearly drained and downed it herself. “That’s a very rude move for a bartender.” He grumbled, before firmly plopping his chin onto his hand morosely. “I need a reason? Maybe I’m just trying to give you business - m’nice like that.”
“you’re surviving on the burger you ate an hour ago. pretty lame for a vampire, if you ask me.” melanie breathed out with an amused tone as she clicked her tongue. “really? some patrons really like it when i drink with them.” melanie feigned innocence as she leaned against the bar and pushed the plate of peanuts towards jason, “alright, why don’t you take a crack at these and tell your favorite bartender what’s wrong.”
raypalmer-atom:
“Ah, well I’m a scientist, an engineer, and I have a twin brother.” Ray answered, feeling very much on the spot and kind of baffled by the fact this stranger not only knew who the Legends were, but that he was one of them. “Are you from the future, or another earth?”
“ah, okay that’s easy, your pictures are still all over sciencey magazines i find in star city. i scrape book.” melanie explained, “not exactly, i’m from this timeline, but i accidentally travelled to a pocket dimension with a parallel timeline and was trapped there for a while. word around is that you guys are sort of the experts.”
whitecanary-lance:
“Blonde. Deadly. Dead, revived, repeat.”
“Who are you?”
melanie cooed excitedly as she mimicked sara’s stance, “i met carter the other day, i’m melanie -- did he, he didn’t tell you about me, did he?” melanie bashfully extended a hand into the space between them, “you’re the captain, right?”
nosuchthingasinnocent:
“Well, now we know you have good taste and are an excellent judge of character.” Amelia replied jokingly to her answer, a smug smirk tugging at her lips before quirking an eyebrow at her. “Where’s your bar?”
“i did make it this far.” melanie mumbled almost proudly to herself, laughing a little somberly at her own inside joke. she sucked her tongue through her teeth as she gave the blonde a once over, “a nice girl like you probably shouldn’t go anywhere near a bar like that.” melanie warned, her voice dropping a few octaves, though warning was not her intention. “it’s on the outskirts of the industrial district, just off the corner of fifth and maine.”
zaritarazi-rp:
Zari smiled and nodded at the beautiful woman’s suggestion. With a smile still on her lips Zari reached for her half of the doughnuts. “To breaking bread together” Zari said with a bright smile and held up her doughnut towards the other woman, as if the baked good were a glas and she was awaiting her newfound friend to ‘clink it’ with her ‘glass’. Since Zari came to Central City she’d constantly been feeling scared and alone. For once, she felt safe and genuinly happy for a moment.
melanie grinned as she touched the half of her doughnut to zari’s, “so, you seemed like you had a lot on your mind, talking to a doughnut and all that.” melanie asked invitingly as she bit into the pastry.
nosuchthingasinnocent:
“That’s probably why I don’t like it.” Amelia noted with a small chuckle. Humble had never exactly been a word in her vocabulary, least of all when it came to herself. “I guess that makes sense.” She nodded, before a curious smirk tugged at her lips. “So, which one am I? Interesting or annoying?” She asked teasingly.
melanie laughed - at least the woman owned up to her own. most people wouldn’t admit so easily to arrogance, though a healthy portion of pride wasn’t exactly the worst thing, in melanie’s opinion anyway. “well, let’s see.” melanie began drumming one finger against the counter at a time, “you’ve responded positively to all my compliments, you actually are honest, and you seem like you don’t mind calling people out on their shit...i’m leaning towards interesting.” melanie tallied with a smile as she sipped her drink, “that’s my first impression.”
❝ i’m a real vampire. ❞
“oh yeah, you are, and i...am cutting you off.” melanie reached for the drink in front of him, instead of tossing it into the sink she downed the rest of it then set the glass aside to wash. “why are you getting hammered in the middle of the week again?”
@outlawintheredhood
“so you’re one of the legendary legends.....cool. let me guess who you are, give me like, three clues.”

“come on, its part of the charm!” melanie protested with a laugh before she slotted her hands over her hip, “i’m not a woman who shies away from a challenge you know.”
“I guess if you’re into that sort of thing.” Carter mused with a small laugh before nodding in approval. “If that’s the case then the two of you will probably get along just fine. Let me know where you wanna meet, we’ll pick the time.”
outlawintheredhood:
melaniexpark:
“it’s tricky.” melanie admitted if only to give him some comfort - it wasn’t a magical solution he could figure out right away, and that was okay. “but you’ll figure it out.” she assured him. “alright, then, i’ll find you and we can get that drink. preferably, i’d also appreciate less of you showing up riddled with bullet holes as well.”
“Thanks, Mel.” Jason muttered shooting her a grateful smile before frowning in offence at her teasing. “I did not show up injured that often. Besides, you should have seen the other guys.” He scoffed haughtily, before finally nodding. “But fine. I’ll make sure not to track blood in.”
outlawintheredhood:
Jason rose an eyebrow at Melanie’s statement, before realising she couldn’t see it and shaking his head. “Do I even want to know what trouble you got into?” He teased, before resting a hand over one of the guns holstered at his side. “I was just going to do this the old-fashioned way - in through the front door and I blast anyone who gets between me and that box.” He shrugged. “I gotta get it to a friend who knows better about the thing than me and will keep it safe. Any idiot who tries to stop me gets what’s coming to them.”
melanie’s lip jutted out into a pout, “let’s just say shadow is no longer a hub city urban legend. she made her public debut.” melanie elaborated briefly, her brows tugging together when she heard his plan. “alright then, i’ll hold’em, you punch.” she mumbled as she swept a hand towards the front door, “let’s go get the damn box.” melanie indicated as she intertwined her fingers and stretched her arms ahead of her to crack her knuckles.
kryptonsxlastxson:
“You really think you’re going to get past me?” Clark landed before the other, his family crest proudly displayed on his chest as he donned his suit and cape once more. “Think again, friend,” he quipped, his fists raising, ready to fight.
melanie stepped up beside the man in red and blue as she surveyed the league members they were up against, “trust me, going through us is not the smartest idea, you have knives, we have powers. you do the math.” the shadows danced at the tips of melanie’s fingers, forming into a spear head as she knelt into a fighting stance, “what do you say, divide and conquer?” she whispered over to the man of steel.
last--son:
“Oh,” he tried not to look too disappointed at the response, a little smile coming to his face. He probably should have known that root beer wouldn’t be on the menu in a place like this. “Thanks, and I think I’ll stick to non alcoholic.”
“alright, pick a cocktail and i’ll mix up a virgin for you.” melanie swept a hand over the bar as if to indicate that his wish was her command, “or you could go with a seltzer.”
poisonousisley:
“Good to know.” Pamela replied with a chuckle, before letting out a sigh at the other woman’s warning. “Trust me, I am aware just how much chaos the small things can cause.” She muttered. Even if this thing was false, she had no doubt there would be enough fools fighting over it to cause trouble. “I’m just hoping that it’s short-lived.”
once the brief moment had passed, melanie watched the woman’s mood shift - if whatever it is has gotten one of gotham’s most notorious criminals on the fence then it had to be big, “right, small seed, big tree.” she tried to allegorically reference the woman’s field. “well, at least the alcohol is good.” she shrugged her shoulders as she tried to search for a silver lining, her eyes flickering to the petite blonde that made her way over to the bar with her eyes set on the redhead, “i’ll be behind the bar, if you need me just holler.” melanie pushed herself off the bar as she returned to her duties.
baristabirdgoddess:
The flash of red in Kendra’s eyes dissipated as the other woman announced that she was there to help. Her shoulders visibly slumped a little as she came down from high alert.
“I’m not sure how the guards would react to us in this city but if we avoid the majority of them then we hopefully won’t have to find out.” Kendra replied, her mind automatically going to the worst case scenario. They could be welcome to explore given they had naught but noble intentions. But it was more likely the guards would react poorly like a lot of other cities where heroes and vigilantes were seen more as a public menace.
“The only way to know for sure is to do some reconnaissance.” Kendra answered, eyes trained back on the building. “But if our information is correct… it’s in there.”
“you’re in luck, my powers kind of make sneaking around my specialty.” melanie noted with a excited hint her tone as she rubbed her hands together, turning her attention towards the visible entrances and more importantly to the shadows they cast on the ground of the roof, even dull in the dimly lit evening -- she could definitely work with this.
“alright well,” melanie held a hand out, “i don’t know if you’ve shadow-traveled before but it’s gonna feel weird. i’ll get us past as many security as i can, overwatch told me we need to head to the third floor.”
