Ald'ruhn, the famed capital of Morrowind's great warrior house, the Redoran, sits at the base of Red Mountain, where these mighty and noble warriors keep a watchful eye for the threats and machinations from within the Great Ghost Fence.
Only problem is that, in vanilla Morrowind, Ald'ruhn doesn't exactly look the part of a warrior city - it lacks proper walls or fortifications, and looks more like a collection of huts around a giant crab shell than a true capital of a Great House, let alone one with such a storied martial tradition.
Enter today's Mod of the Day, for today we're showcasing the city overhaul mod Ald'ruhn - City of Ash by SuffersParadise, a mod that completely transforms this dusty Ashlands city into a true capital fortress worthy of the Redoran!
Not only does this mod provide proper fortifications, with real walls to defend from attacks and large garrisons for guards and soldiers, but it expands the city, adding new structures and services, as well as overhauling nigh-near every interior in Ald'ruhn, both within and without of Under-Skar, leaving no stone unturned or untouched!
Incorporating elements from many overhauls that have come before, Ald'ruhn - City of Ash is arguably one of the most thorough overhauls for this blighted capital, and with a patch for BCOM, there's really no reason not to give it a try!

Greetings Outlanders, fellow Mer, and those who just enjoy the sweet gentle song of the Cliff Racer's beating wings! I have exciting news, f
Over 1,200+ new Morrowind mods have been released in the first six months of 2026, a record-breaking pace that's set the stage for 2026 to be the biggest year ever in Morrowind's modding history!
I've got a breakdown of the stats and a list of the 75 mods that have caught my eye this year on a public post over on Patreon (which is by no means an exhaustive list, there's been so many mods that one could spend days just going through the deluge and finding all sorts of gem), but there's a few stats that are worth covering here as well.
First and foremost though, competition news!
In case you missed it, the 2026 Morrowind Modathon Month, the biggest annual competition in The Elder Scrolls community, is officially over!
229 new Morrowind mods were released by 107 participating mod authors, covering a dozen different categories! Highlights include new mods by original Morrowind game developer Douglas Goodall, a wide array of new companion mods, tons of new gameplay features, and much more besides!
The complete list of all submitted mods, organized by category, and a list of winners, can be found over on Reddit!
In other news, the 2026 Morrowind Summer Modjam starts August 22nd-23rd! This is the community's 10th Modjam event, and the 8th hosted by DanaePlays!
For those unfamiliar, these are 48-hour mod fests, where modders are given a set of randomly generated themes and a single weekend to make the best mod they can using those themes.
Some truly incredible and insanely popular mods have come out of past Modjams, and doubtless we'll see even more great mods for the 2026 Summer Modjam!
If you'd like to learn more, and maybe participate yourself, you can find out a breakdown of the rules and themes over on Discord!
Now, let's talk stats, for 2026 has set a rapid pace, both in terms of new mod releases, and mod downloads. Let's start with a breakdown by month:
New Mod Releases by Month (bold indicates new all-time records):
May 2026 - 329 New Mods Released (2025 was 325)
June 2026 - 251 New Mods Released (2025 was 193)
March 2026 - 201 New Mods Released (2025 was 128)
April 2026 - 178 New Mods Released (2025 was 126)
February 2026 - 133 New Mods Released (2025 was 181)
January 2026 - 128 New Mods Released (2025 was 163)
Morrowind Mod Downloads by Month (bold indicates new all-time records):
June 2026 - 4,312,691 Mod Downloads (2025 was 2,670,561)
May 2026- 3,924,767 Mod Downloads (2025 was 6,187,542)
January 2026 - 3,610,766 Mod Downloads (2025 was 2,059,074)
February 2026 - 3,315,587 Mod Downloads (2025 was 1,953,662)
March 2026 - 2,739,875 Mod Downloads (2025 was 1,885,688)
April 2026 - 2,645,806 Mod Downloads (2025 was 2,531,833)
As you can see, 4 out of 6 months so far in 2026 were all-time highs for new mod releases, while 5 out of 6 months were all-time highs for mod downloads, an unprecedented amount of activity that is simply staggering for a game that's nearly a quarter-of-a-century old!
Only one month fell below 2025 download numbers, and it's worth noting that May 2025 was exceptional due to the release of Oblivion Reloaded and Tamriel Rebuilt's Grasping Fortune expansion, which had a knock-on effect of turbocharging Morrowind mod downloads.
Either way, 2026 is on track to outpace even 2025! Morrowind's golden age has truly come again, and there's a lot to be excited for, from Tamriel Rebuilt's upcoming Poison Song expansion, to a new round of Morrowind Modding Madness that will doubtless see a new batch of amazing adventures!
The future, at least as far as Morrowind is concerned, is very bright indeed!
But that's all for now, again there's a more detailed breakdown on Patreon, and until our next announcement, thanks for reading and, as always, happy modding!
