Kei’s hands shook as he held them up, faint yellow light flickering in his palms before bursting out into a shield. He didn’t dare look behind him, knowing full well the sight of Tadashi prone on the ground would only make him waver more.

The villain opposite them, electricity sparking and cracking off their fingers, pointed at Kei, releasing the built-up energy in a beam. The shield took the force, energy bursting and crackling from where the electricity made contact. The other villain’s hand shot out, another streak rushing to where Tadashi was.

Kei swung his shield down, covering Tadashi before ducking behind it as well. The first arc slammed into his shoulder, fierce and hot, spreading down the length of his arm until it fizzled out.
