So, weāre all still reeling from that finale, right? (Spoilers below)
IĀ cannotĀ believe Vader showed up, my jawĀ dropped.Ā It was so fun seeing him, I literally said, āyay we got Vader in the big 2026!ā I found it unnerving he didnāt say a word, but I think that was the point, he just unnerves you if he doesnāt straight up scare you. Anyway, I have some predictions for the next season, based on some discussion threads and other posts, plus a few of my own thrown in (thanks Tumblr for reminding me that there was a Season 2 coming out):
I agree with the theory that Brander Lawson is 100% alive. Before yāall can say the āno body, no deathā theory didnāt apply to Tech, BranderĀ sawĀ Maul push Daki towards Vader and Daki dying. Much too important. Imagine he runs into Devon later on in season 2āheās gonna slip that info to her and it could change the newfound-but-potentially-very-rocky master-apprentice relationship she has with Maul.
I think weāre gonna get an Ahsoka appearance. Iām still not sure of any concrete reasons why, but I just have this gut feeling sheāll show up. Probably to fight Maul again and possibly try to pull Devon away from the dark side.
Iām actually gonna dedicate half this post to Ryleeās roleāhe weirdly became my favourite character in the showĀ becauseĀ it seemed like he had no huge role, which means he could become an important character in the next season. Basically, thereās three ways his character arc could go:
he is returned to his mom by Two-Boots, per Lawsonās āfinalā instructions. Given that he was in this mess because of Maul and Devon, heād probably turn full Imperial and become an important officer in the Imperial military (assuming thereās a time-skip). At an extreme juncture, heĀ mayĀ hunt down, find and turn Maul and Devon in, thinking he did the galaxy some good. Again, extreme. His nature makes me think he wouldnāt goĀ thatĀ far, even if he became corrupted by the Empireās ideals.Ā
he chooses to stay with Devon and Maul, and actually becomes a member of Crimson Dawn. This is because Maul would also quietly nurture Ryleeās grief and anger towards the Empire, thereby linking Rylee to his grand plans. Devon and Rylee become the corrupted-by-revenge duo/couple whoāve unknowingly placed themselves in Maulās clutches.
he chooses to stay with Devon and Maul #2, butālike the theory going around Tumblr so farāheās going to remain stubbornly true to his ideals and very earnest. He could be the proverbial angel on Devonās shoulder and try to pull her away from Maulās teachings. He could even be the whole reason Devon may leave Maul right before hisĀ RebelsĀ appearance, because many of her decisions throughout season 1 became tied to Ryleeās safety and well-being despite Dakiās warnings that they lay low. Maul would hate this, and heād try to get rid of Rylee, aka the annoying pest to his plans.
Do I ship Devon and Rylee? Iāmma be real with you: quite a lot. But the narrative could make them work either wayāas friends or as lovers. (If theyĀ doĀ become the latter and Filoni pulls a gender-swapped Padme-Anakin on Malachor situationā¦ no, Mel, donāt think about it, donāt think about it, we need a Star Wars couple with a happy ending for once!) But they are going to be That Duoāeach otherās worst fearsĀ andĀ the chinks in their armour. Their reasons for the light or the darkness.
