My name is Mel, and this is my personal and art blog where I lovingly write about my original characters and more! Right now, I'm deep in the world of Katekyo Hitman Reborn, and the majority of my original characters come from this universe. To learn more about them, you can check out my basic masterlist!
sorry for all the reblogs, I just wanted to read through what info about the characters is already outdated and what isn't 😭😭😭😭 if you have any questions about murakami characters, you're always welcome to ask me!! i reply slowly, but I really love to chat 😤😤😤😤
Since I have a little free time, I decided to talk about the remaining Guardians. And today we have Sun.
Furugane Akina (Sun)
Known for his voracious appetite for financial gain, Akina's primary motivator is money. From his perspective, time is a currency equivalent to riches. Bribe him with some cash, and he'll be whatever you want a friend, boyfriend, or husband the choice is yours provided you keep the cash flowing. For an ambiguous period, the Murakami family has been closely associated with Akina, though his true age remains undisclosed as he prefers to identify as "forever seventeen." An adept card player and swindler, he harbors a fondness for hanging out at the Murakami family's casino.
Attempting to play against him is a futile endeavor, as he possesses an uncanny knack for striking it rich through gambling. Money, being the source of his luck, always seems to be on his side, making it virtually impossible to beat him in any game of chance.
in any case, it seems like you can only be "friends" in the "normal" sense of the word with someone from murakami only with ichiro, perhaps, and then there's so many uh... "buts" with the fact that you can't know him normally, even with all his openness. my characters are literally not meant for normal human relationships. well, they try! at least
Sketch fueled by a snippet that @melonchanverse wrote for my christmas carol ask! It ended up nicer than I expected considering it has more than three people so I'm posting separately dnbvfshdf someday I hope I can make a cleaner illustration for each of our yakuza trios! I still really love how Kana-Ichiro & Kurumi-Nadeko has similar shades of image colors esp since theyre the pairs of eldest and second-eldest children from their respective main family line.
Would it be ok to ask for Gokudera x Miyako ship crumbs, Mel? 👀👉👈✨
don’t worry it’s always ok for you to ask me something ein msoaisncnckdak anyway i will share with you how i view them in some way
gokudera is captivated by miyako's unconventional behavior and self-proclaimed status as an alien. miyako seems to derive great pleasure from playfully deceiving gokudera, much to his confusion and delight. despite any initial skepticism, miyako possesses an uncanny ability to convince gokudera, turning his doubts and questions in her favor at every turn. their interactions are infused with a unique dynamic, where miyako's whimsical nature entices gokudera, who, despite his suspicions, continues to be drawn into her playful banter and imaginative tales.
and yeah also gokudera was initially drawn to miyako because of her physical attractiveness, even before the whole alien persona came into play. it is quite likely that many people took notice of miyako’s appearance, with gokudera being one of them. his fascination with her looks have sparked his initial interest, and as they got to know each other better, miyako's unique personality and quirks only further fueled his intrigue.
and it’s important to keep in mind that miyako doesn't view gokudera as foolish for falling for her tall tales. in fact, she's genuinely intrigued by his responses and reactions. miyako takes enjoyment in hearing his thoughts and theories, especially when he starts to spin wild theories in response to her claim of hailing from a realm where gifting purses is a common practice.
Mellllll 🥰 Sending the emoji ask to you too hehe If you were to assign an emoji that a hypothetical fandom would use for the Murakami Siblings + Guardians, what would it be? (Though I think I alr know for a few them hahaha) And if you can choose a second one what would it be? (e.g. V/tubers do this! My kamioshi uses 🕊️🎐)
hi ein!! thanks for the question, I've had emoji's ready for my guys for a long time…..
murakami ichiro - 🌅🔥 (i just really associate him with the first one… representing the dawn of something new, the rising sun signifies the potential for growth. the second one… i think its leaning more towards his “passion” side)
murakami nadeko - 🌸🍡 (both of these emoji are strongly connected to traditional japanese culture, like the image of nadeko, especially the cherry blossom. and she also loves traditional japanese sweets)
murakami itsuki - 🔮🍎 (he has a lot going on with illusion things and also kinda interested in urban legends. about apple…. it’s a symbol of knowledge, wisdom, or the pursuit of knowledge)
hamasaki ryosuke - 🐉🥃 (dragon because his name literally has the word dragon in it, and he likes to drink)
shirayuri kaguya - 🌙🎐(don't think there's any point in explaining the moon emoji, it's pretty self-explanatory. i strongly associate kaguya with rain, as i do with hydrangeas. not only because of her role as a rain guardian)
hoshina miyako - ⭐️👽 (i don't think it needs any comments either 😭😭😭😭)
yoshitsugu keitaro - 🍀⛓️(the four leaf clover, because despite his bad luck, he still manages to find some luck—just in all the wrong ways…. the chains could represent the burden he feels from constantly dealing with accidents and negative situations)
yumekawa mieru - 🍬💗 (represents her sweet and dreamy nature, embodying the fairytale-like essence she often brings to situations. and she just has such a pink dreamy aesthetic so)
furugane akina - 🎲🃏 (no words)
suzuki haruka - 🦋📷 (yeah, butterflies are the main ruka motif , so it's pretty obvious. the camera signifies their passion for capturing moments and people through photographs, reflecting their interest in people's stories and lives)
How about everyones favourite flower/plant if it wasn't asked yet? If you dont wanna answer for everyone then just Nadeko is fine
hi lou! hope you are having a wonderful day. don’t worry i answered for everyone so >3
OC Questions: Favorites and Least-Favorite
ichiro - well, ichiro isn't really a flower enthusiast, but he does have a soft spot for the roses and wisteria from their garden at home
nadeko - as the most obvious answer goes, nadeko's favorite flower is undoubtedly the sakura blossom. can't resist the allure of a good hanami session
itsuki - although he doesn't have a particularly deep interest in flowers, he finds camellias quite fascinating
ryosuke - does not like flowers, and considers floral bouquets a waste of time and space in the room
kaguya - if kaguya ever was asked for her preferred plant or flower, she would probably offer a response along the lines of, "a blade of grass, I guess. less maintenance than any flower and it won't wilt or die on me." she's not one for pretty blooms or frilly flora; her tastes are simple and practical
miyako - venus flytrap. she'd admire the fact that it snags and devours insects with its sharp little traps. in typical miyako fashion, she'd probably name hers "flyface" and enjoy watching it catch flies and spiders.
kei - doesn't like plants. they're always dying in his care.
mieru - probably dandelions. she thinks they're "little suns" and likes to make wreaths out of them.
akina - doesn't care about plants or flowers. he likes lush and beautiful bouquets, but doesn't think much about flowers
haruka - ruka loves flowers, but when asked about their favorite, they'll likely hesitate. it's like asking her to choose a favorite color amongst a rainbow, each hue holding its own charm. she appreciate the beauty and symbolism of various blooms, viewing them as living art rather than having a top favorite.
⟢ What canon character gets annoyed by your OC?
⟢ Who would call your OC their best friend?
⟢ Did your OC bear witness to anyone’s full character arc
HI AGAIN JOJO HERE WE GO AGAIN NOW WITH MIYAKO and thank you for your asks really
What canon character gets annoyed by your OC?
i’ll be honest, most likely many characters has had the "she's annoying" thought at one point when seeing her, so the list here is huge.
Who would call your OC their best friend?
the first candidate who pops to my mind would be haru, for sure. they definitely go on shopping sprees, and i can see their conversations ranging from the latest fashion trends to the most outlandish theories. they're like the dynamic duo of quirky interests and adventures together.
and the second one is shitt p, that's a given - who else could handle miyako's alien ramblings and conspiracy theories? they share a unique bond where their weirdness and curiosity bring them together.
Did your OC bear witness to anyone’s full character arc
i’d say she’s been around for tsuna’s full character arc, witnessing everything from his crazy start to his growth into a more confident person. however, among vongola, her connection with gokudera is the closest, so their relationship and the evolution of his character are significant to miyako. her unique bond with him adds depth to her understanding of his journey and makes her a personal witness to his development, beyond just observing tsuna’s arc.
IT’S TIME TO ANSWER QUESTIONS…. thanks for your patience 😭 YAMADEKO TIME!!!
Send me a ship and a number and I'll tell you
2. What their love letters look like
oh hm 🤔 i’m not sure they wrote each other love letters, to be honest. I think yamamoto would leave nadeko things with some kind of notes: a signed baseball, a bent practice sword left near her stuff as long as no one sees. what about nadako, I think she would try to write something, but knowing her.... it would probably be something like a single, impossibly sharp calligraphy stroke on a scrap of paper
11. What their first impression was of each other
actually I described it briefly in one post, but I never mind discussing yamadeko again
Nadeko's First Impression of Yamamoto:
Nadeko saw Yamamoto as a typical, overly friendly athlete – a "baseball idiot" with a too-loud laugh and suspiciously easy charm. she clocked his popularity and easygoing nature immediately. while polite on the surface, internally she was wary. his constant presence around her brother Ichiro made him a potential variable, someone who could disrupt her carefully controlled world or influence Ichiro negatively. she found his perpetual sunshine naive and possibly fake, putting him firmly in the "friendly acquaintance to monitor" category. his athletic skill was noted, but not enough to override her initial suspicion.
Yamamoto's First Impression of Nadeko:
Yamamoto saw Nadeko exactly as the world presented her: the beautiful, impeccably polite, and terrifyingly smart "perfect student," Murakami Nadeko. he recognized her as Ichiro's clearly protective younger sister. he found her impressive – her grace, her achievements, her obvious devotion to her brother. however, he also sensed the distance immediately. her perfection felt like a polished shell, a little too flawless to be entirely real. he noticed the effort behind the image, the way she seemed constantly "on." while he was naturally friendly towards her (as he was to everyone), he intuited she wasn't someone you could easily get close to, which made her quietly intriguing. he respected her, but knew there was more beneath the surface.
nadeko didn't have to go without a picture after all... thanks to @einsatzzz! i received this wonderful gift from her and i can't stop admiring it! thank you so much!! please tell the artist that I'm just thrilled with how cute they are together 🥹🥹🥹 happy rumideko,,,,,,,
and again happy birthday nadeko!! this is the best day ever!
hi everyone so… yeah… okay so I think I finally got around to properly writing this down. i’ve been tweaking the Murakami family for a while now and I wanted to put all the updated info in one place so I don't lose track of it myself lmao. so here we go.
The family itself
The Murakami family is still a well-known yakuza family, but I've relocated them. that said, they now live near the border of Namimori, so a full "move" isn't really necessary in the traditional sense. Their oyabun is a shrewd leader, he knows Vongola is the dominant force in the underworld, and their reluctant heir, Sawada Tsunayoshi, is right there in Namimori. What better way to secure an unshakable alliance than through friendship between the next generations?
The biggest change I made is removing the blood inheritance factor. The oyabun is not obligated to choose a blood relative as his successor. Biological sons still carry weight, sure, but the sons in this family are almost always adopted. The most sacred principle of the Murakami family isn't blood, it's the oyabun's absolute authority to choose his heir. But that choice follows a specific cultural path: he officially adopts the chosen successor, making them his "son" in the eyes of both the family and the underworld's laws.
Succession isn't something they wait to think about until the oyabun is old or dying. It's a continuous process. High-ranking members especially the oyabun himself and his wakagashira (underboss) are always on the lookout for promising young men to bring into the family and raise as future "sons."
The overall vibe of the Murakami family is that they're a found family more than a blood one. People who had nowhere else to go, who found each other. That said, for obvious reasons, it's still not the most wholesome place to be.
The oyabun
I actually came up with a name for him at some point, but I just keep calling him Oyabun because it cracks me up. He's a completely new character (not the siblings' grandfather from earlier concepts). He'll have a moderately active role, but he's objectively busy with family matters unlike the previous character, he actually shows up on page pretty often.
He's one of those jovial types. At first glance, he looks like a stern yakuza boss, but he genuinely loves throwing parties and drinking a lot. He's very much "one of the guys" to many people. Do not mistake his demeanor for stupidity, though.
The siblings have a genuinely good relationship with him not perfect, not sunshine and rainbows, but they're attached to him despite everything. He gave a lot to these lost kids.
The siblings: Ichiro, Nadeko, and Itsuki
They are brother and sister, but not by blood. All three are "children" of the current oyabun, who adopted them. Among the three, Ichiro is the direct candidate to inherit the position.
The core of their dynamic is that they found each other. Each of them was a broken child when they entered the Murakami family. Being taken in made their lives better in many ways, but also worse in others. The oyabun isn't a perfect parent, but he gave these lost kids a place to belong, and they're all attached to him despite the ups and downs.
Ichiro
Ichiro came from a deeply unstable family like financial ruin, debt collectors and parents who fought constantly and neglected him. He was aggressive even as a child because aggression was the only way he knew to survive. His family eventually lost him to the system, and he ended up in an orphanage that was, ironically, run by yakuza-connected people. The orphanage wasn't a gentle place. Ichiro was already feral by the time he arrived, and he kept fighting because that was the only language he spoke.
Now, as a teenager, Ichiro is trying to be the friendly good guy. He's not naive about it, he can be pretty snarky, and he's not going to patronize anyone. But he's working on being better. He's ready to accept the title of oyabun because he loves his siblings, he loves this place, and he wants to protect this family. Underneath it all, he's terrified of being thrown away again, of ending up with nothing.
Nadeko (Nadeshiko)
Nadeko was the daughter of one of the oyabun's close associates, a high-ranking member of the Murakami family. Her father died when she was young, and Oyabun took her in. Her mother passed away even earlier, so she doesn't remember her at all. She was largely raised as a "lady" because of her position as the girl in the family. Her entire female upbringing was handled by the "older sisters", the senior women of the Murakami family. They taught her etiquette, how to present herself, how to read a room, how to be indispensable without being a target.
Nadeko is fully aware of her limited role in the inheritance question. As much as she loves her father and her brothers, she can feel the difference in how she's treated versus how Ichiro is treated as the future boss.
Itsuki
Itsuki joined the family a bit later than the other two. His father was imprisoned for killing a man, and Itsuki ended up in the same orphanage where Ichiro had been (they overlapped briefly, though they weren't close at the time, Ichiro was in his "fight everyone" phase, and Itsuki was the quiet new kid). The stigma followed him. Everyone knew his father was a murderer. He never wanted to be like his father, but sometimes, when the bullying got too much, he fought back. And those moments scared him, he'd see flashes of anger that felt too familiar and wonder if it was in his blood. Oyabun adopting him was the first time Itsuki wasn't judged for his father's crime. In the Murakami family, being the son of a killer isn't a mark of shame, it's just another story. That acceptance means everything to him.
Itsuki's core desire is for things to stay as they are. He wants them all to keep living as one family, never losing each other. He's on the more "moral" side of things compared to Ichiro, but family comes first. He'd do terrible things to protect them and hate himself afterward.
Because they're not blood-related, the fact that they chose each other, that they found family in each other despite everything, makes their bond even stronger in my eyes. They're three kids who survived different kinds of hell and came out the other side as siblings. They don't share every detail of their pasts. The specifics of the trauma aren't always spoken aloud. But they understand without needing to ask.
Women in the Murakami family
This is a topic with a lot to unpack. The position of women in the yakuza is best described as "informally powerful but formally powerless." They're essential to the family's functioning acting as mothers, bankers, diplomats, and covert operators within the clan.
In the Murakami family specifically, there are "older sisters" senior women who take on roles involving cover operations, diplomacy, accounting, and sometimes even covert assassination. They're not swinging swords in the open, but they're absolutely dangerous.
I think that's everything? finally. this has been cooking for way too long, but I'm happy with where they've landed. if anyone actually reads all this, you're a real one. if I remember something else I'll make another post, but for now here they are.
⚠️ Content Warning for the darker story elements! This ship involves kidnapping, drugging, a forced romantic relationship, and more things that yandere tropes entail! Please feel free to mute the ByakuAya tag/block if you would rather not see the ship and its contents ദ്ദി ˊ ᗜ ˋ )
