Re-thinking his choices, Yuri should’ve kept a better distance from that yoga class, but a walk through the park - especially when he was respecting the pathway - should never be as dangerous as this. The man twists his face for a moment as he feels someone hitting him, immediately stopping to turn around and face the guilty one. “I– am, yes, nothing to worry about ..” Yuri rubs his shoulder, then looking behind her. “Why would you keep your matt so close to the pathway?” A question that he did not consider rude, but rather an honest one. 

It was a good question, one she was starting to ask herself as well. “I was afraid to hit one of the other attendees,” she said with a sigh, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. “I guess my good intentions kind of backfired, huh?” She looked at his shoulder guiltily then back up at him, offering a tentative smile. “Do you need ice or something? How can I make it up to you?”

A genuine smile flashes over Scott’s features before his eyes land on the rest of her yoga class, everyone following the instructor in perfect sync. “You make one mistake and they kick you out?” He shook his head, clicking his tongue in disapproval before looking back at her. “That sounds like a great idea. I feel more awake now thanks to you, but I still think some coffee will stop me from falling asleep.” He offered her another smile before stretching out his hand to introduce himself. “I’m Scott, by the way.”

Melrose glanced back at the class, relieved they’d all gone back to paying attention to the instructor instead of her display of clumsiness. “I don’t think they’d say it, but I doubt any of them want me to keep disturbing their peace,” she chuckled, picking up her bag and mat from the ground. She reached out with her free hand, giving him a gentle shake. “I’m Melrose. Sorry, we had to meet like this.” The blonde led the way to the nearest coffee shop, expecting him to follow. “How come you’re so tired if you don’t mind me asking?”

While the rest of the women and the odd few men glared at the pretty blonde when she swore as she hit Mars coming in, Mars herself couldn’t help but burst out laughing like a lunatic. It was a short lived outburst followed by a small, apologetic bow and folded hands, plus a quiet namaste as if it would make anything better. “I’m fine, I’m fine. Sorry, that was hilarious. Nothing funny ever happens at yoga, it was a nice surprise,” she joked, setting up her stuff beside the woman who’d hit her. “I’m Mars, by the way. Thanks for distracting from the fact that I’m late as fuck.”

Most of the people around her were glaring, but she was taken aback when the person she actually hit started laughing. She watched her in surprise, wondering if she might’ve actually given her a concussion or something. “That’s not the reaction I was expecting,” she said with a hesitant smile as the brunette set her things down next to hers. “I’m glad I could liven things up then, even if it was at the expense of your face. I’m Melrose, it’s very nice to meet you.”

Having got up early on her day off, a restless morning of coffee and boredom resulted in her taking Ralph out for a walk for something to do. Reaching the park, another coffee in hand, she was happily making her down the path, Ralph ahead of her when she was hit by unexpected arm, knocking her off balance slightly. Struggling to keep hold of her coffee and of Ralph, she felt her eyes water slightly at the impact to her face. “Shit,” she murmured before she heard a voice ask her if she was okay. Seeing Ralph come and sit by her feet, she let go of his leash and felt her face before looking up, seeing Melrose in front of her. “It’s fine, honestly. I didn’t realise Yoga was this dangerous though,” she replied with small smile, letting her friend know that she hadn’t really hurt her. "Though I shouldn’t have been surprised it was you.” finishing with a small laugh, she shook her head lightly, knowing how ungraceful Melrose was.  

God, she was embarrassing. She counted her blessings when she realized it was someone she knew and that knew of her less adorable quirks, but she would not forever be known as the girl who accidentally punched her friends in the friends while attempting yoga. “I’m so sorry, Ley,” she apologized again, petting Ralph’s furry head as he sat next to his owner. “I see my clumsy reputation precedes me. Please tell me you aren’t the type that bruises easily. I would feel seriously awful if you walked around with a black eye because of me.”

Adelaide strolled through the park during her lunch break. She usually tried to do a walking lunch once a week. It was yet another excuse to get a break from work. Plus she always enjoyed a nice brisk walk. It was a great way for her to clear her head. She heard her phone ring and saw it was her mother. Great. While she loved her mother, they weren’t exactly close, but to be fair they never were but if there was thing she took form her mother. It was her dedication to her job. “Yes mom, everything over here is going great.” Adelaide just wanted to hurry their conversation up so she could go back to her peaceful stroll. “Yes I will send over the designs by the end of the week.” Finally as the conversation was nearing the end, she felt a back handed slap to the face, dropping her phone. Before asking the girl, Adelaide picked up her phone and ended the call officially with her mother. “Yeah I’m fine. Normally I wouldn’t be saying thank you for doing that but it was a way to end my phone conversation with my mom so all is forgiving.” she shrugged.

Melrose was almost more horrified to see the phone fly out of the other girl’s hand than of the actual act of hitting her. She couldn’t afford to replace her own shitty phone, let alone someone else’s newer one. “Shit, is your phone okay? Please tell me it’s not cracked or something,” she asked, looking at it guiltily. “Also, I hope your face is okay. Obviously.” The girl’s response actually made her laugh and she momentarily forgot about the fact that she was a grade A klutz. “I’m glad I could save you from an unpleasant call then. I’ll find a more pleasant way to do it if there’s ever a next time.”

Scott had been awake for several hours. He’d fallen asleep fast, slept heavily and woken too early. There was nothing new about this, the classic pattern of transatlantic jet lag. However, this morning he felt as if a colossal leech had sucked his energy and he could swear that if he stopped moving for a second he would fall asleep. Just as tried to find the words to reply to an email something, or better said someone, smacked him right across the face. “It’s fine,” he said, shaking his head lightly as he came back to his senses. “I was thinking of a way to stay awake and I guess you were the answer to my request.” Of course, he could give a list of better ways to wake him up, but this would do. “I’m fine, don’t worry.” All things considered, Scott’s pain threshold was pretty high.

Melrose cringed as she took in the man, who looked remarkably happy for someone who was just smacked across the face. “And I was apparently looking for a new way to embarrass myself, so I guess we both got something out of this,” she said with a shrug, raising her outstretched hands awkwardly. It was just her luck that she would find the most attractive man in the park and hit him right in his perfect face. “I don’t think I’m welcomed in this class anymore, maybe we can find you some ice somewhere? There’s a coffee place right around the corner where I can also buy you a drink to make up for all... this.”

Late! Late! I’m Late! Zahra hit the snooze button way too much earlier that morning and as a result, she spent most of her morning playing catch up. Running like the rabbit in Alice and wonderland she made it into her yoga class. However, with her attention focused on making a good impression at her first yoga session, she inadvertently collided with another attendee. Zahra grunted in pain as her shoulder got hit. “I’m fine,–” Once again the others in the sessions turned to glare at them, which Zahra returned ten-fold, with attitude as if daring them to say something. There goes her good first impression. Zahra rubbed the offending area and winced at the sensitivity. “–Or maybe not. Do you know if there is any ice here?”

Melrose smiled as the brunette glared back at the other attendees, immediately taking a liking to the other girl. “I’m so sorry. I’m not sure who allowed me to join this class. I have the grace of a bull,” she explained, standing near the girl and trying to think of a way to make it up to her. “I don’t think they carry ice with them, but I could get you an ice cream to make up for it?”

Despite the chuckle that followed the blonde’s words, Beckett’s head tilted over to look at her, “That’s kind of the whole point,” he spoke almost matter of factly but maybe he needed to realize that his thought process wasn’t the most normal around. “What makes you think that you wouldn’t be able to be badass alien killing machine? If The Walking Dead has taught me anything it’s that you should always expect the unexpected,” he paused, pushing the hood off his head as he fidgeted with his hair for a moment, “You’re plan isn’t horrible but if I was you, I’d probably try to find those capable people and cling to them ‘cause if you’re going to hide alone you’ll be a pretty easy target. ‘Cause, yanno, you’re alone.”

Her lips curled up slightly when she realized how seriously he was taking this made up scenario, which she tried to hide so he wouldn’t think she was making fun of him. “I guess you’re not wrong. It’s not like the aliens will call ahead of time so I can get ready for them,” she admitted. “Expect the unexpected? Isn’t that a Big Brother thing?” She watched as he pulled his hood off, once again hit with how seriously this conversation was to him. It was kind of endearing really. “I guess I could suddenly turn into Ellen Ripley. No one would be more surprised than me, trust me on that.” Mel nodded in agreement, unable to fault his logic. “You’re not wrong. You seem to be pretty knowledgable, don’t be surprised to find me at your front door in the case of an invasion.”

Sebastian allowed himself a few moments to look at the girl before he walked over to her; and the moment he did so, he had mentally punched himself, knowing full well he shouldn’t be feeling whatever it was that he felt. He chuckled at Melrose’s reaction to seeing him, “I’m sorry, Mel,” he said, shaking his head and resting his hand on his chest, all the while trying to get himself to stop laughing. Maybe he should have texted her and not just assume she was waiting for him to show up, no matter how many times he had done it before. “I know, I know,” he began, looking at her, “and I can stop if you wanna.” Though he wished she didn’t want him to. “But who else would you talk to at 3 AM when all you want to do is sleep and not have a creep scare you?” Sebastian tried to joke —- even if all he could muster up lately were bad jokes —-, lighten up the mood and not make her regret ng in his presence at ungodly hours.

“It’s fine, you’re forgiven. As if anyone could ever stay mad at that face,” she said playfully, sneaking a glance at him. He really did have the kind of smile that was freakishly contagious. It was one of the things she liked most about him. “Did Isay I wanted you to stop? I only say you didn’t have to.” The last thing she wanted was for him to stop coming around, the only reason she said he shouldn’t was out of courtesy and that only extended so far given how smitten she was. “I wouldn’t want anyone keeping me company at 3 AM when I stink of burger grease. Come on, let’s go.” She stayed by his side as they walked, always a bit shy when Bash was concerned. “How was your day? Did Daisy behave?”

Watching as the boy left with his tail between his legs, Lola rolled her eyes and let out a frustrated groan. “Idiot would be putting it lightly,” the brunette began, her voice laced with annoyance, “he used the whole… are you an angel thing. And I swear, at the moment I wished I was because then I could just vanish and not have to deal with his stupidity.” A chuckle escaped her soon after, a few heartbeats later and she was completely over the whole thing. Mel was there and that made Lola’s mood improve tenfold. “Imagination is dead.”

The sight of the boy walking away in embarrassment was enough to bring a smile to Mel’s face, one that she made no effort to hide. It was a well-deserved embarrassment if you asked her. “You should be used to it by now, boys have a tendency of turning into bumbling idiots around you,” she pointed out innocently. “We’ve also known that for a while. It’s why I’m single really. Nothing to do with my complete unavailability and short fuse when it comes to men’s bullshit.”

Melrose followed her yoga instructor’s instructions to a T—or at least tried to. She might have the body of a ballerina, but there was absolutely nothing graceful about her. In fact, it was a miracle her boss at the diner hadn’t fired her already given the number of mugs and plates she broke every week. She was so focused on her movements she barely noticed how close she was standing to the pathway as she moved her arms around and accidentally hit some poor unsuspecting person who was walking by. “Oh, shit,” she cursed, causing the rest of the people in her yoga class to glare at her. Not that she noticed. “I’m so sorry, I should’ve been paying more attention. Are you okay?”

“How much you wanna bet that those two hangin’ in the corner are gonna go fuck in the bathroom?” Rizzo asked the person next to him, gesturing toward the people in question who were shoving their tongues down each other’s throats where they thought no one could see them. “Didn’t realize that I was getting drinks and a show tonight.”

Melrose glanced at the couple the man was pointing too, afraid she would get a view she wouldn’t soon forget. She cringed as she was forced to watch the girl grope the boy as if they were the only two people in the room. She looked away quickly, downing the rest of her drink in one gulp. “Hasn’t anyone ever told them PDA is terribly unbecoming behavior?” She said with a scoff, glancing at the stranger sitting next to her. “I bet they won’t last another five minutes.”

Lola was two seconds away from using her laptop to hit the face of the guy that was speaking to her. The world clearly thought she still had a shred of patience left after a busy week at work, a less than stellar situation with her brother and a noisy neighbor; now she was dealing with a sexist parade of lame pick-up lines in the making —- as if she hadn’t heard him make a bet and call her a ‘sure thing’ just seconds before, to his buddies, standing not so far away. After ignoring the boy for far too long, Lola finally looked up at him in both frustration and anger. “You have exactly three seconds to get up and leave me the fuck alone before your dick meets my very hot coffee.” Her stare could melt steel and now all she had to do was impatiently wait for the boy to either smarten up or stay put. 

Melrose watched the scene from a distance at first, having a feeling Lola could handle herself just fine without her help. It soon became clear, however, that the boy was more stubborn (and dumb) than he appeared. The blonde made her way back to the table she shared with her best friend and stood next to the guy impatiently. “Are you planning on getting out of my seat anytime soon? I think she’s made it abundantly clear she isn’t into your less than charming pick-up attempt,” she told him with a glare as he scrambled out of her seat finally. Two angry girls were too much for him apparently. “What an idiot. What pick-up line did he use?”

Melrose fiddled with the diner’s keys as she closed the lights and stepped out of her workplace, shutting the door behind her and making sure it was securely locked up before turning around and somehow ending up almost colliding with her next door neighbor. She dropped the keys, gasping in surprise before hitting Bash in the chest softly. “You scared me, you creep,” she said accusingly, reaching down to pick up her keys and shoving them back in her purse. She shouldn’t be surprised to find him waiting for her after her late shifts, it was becoming quite the habit, but there was something unsettling about finding people just standing there at 3AM in an otherwise deserted street. She managed a smile, recovering from her initial surprise quickly. It was hard to be mad at him when he was being this sweet. “You really don’t have to do this, you know, Bash. I carry pepper spray.”

With his leg propped up on the edge of the park bench, Beckett pulled at the drawstring on his slightly oversized hoodie in order to make sure the strings were even. It was an odd tick he’d had ever since he was a kid and the vague recollection of the nuns smiling at his mannerisms while at the orphanage plagued his thoughts. Time truly does fly. And so does his train of thought as he looked out at the park. “Yo, have you ever thought about what it would be like if aliens showed up like… right this moment? And I don’t mean the stupid cheesy kind of aliens, I mean the predator style aliens. What would you do?”

Melrose glanced up from her book, watching the boy curiously with her mouth slightly open. That was an odd question if she’d ever heard one. “You’re kind of putting me on the spot here,” she said, shutting her book and pausing to give his question some thought. “I’d like to think I’d somehow turn into this alien killing badass, but the more realistic part of me thinks I’d just find a place to hide and wait for more capable people to take care of the creepy aliens.”
