WHAT MONSTER FROM FOLKLORE PROTECTS YOU?
THE SKINWALKER.
For some, the Skinwalker is very real and very lethal. Even the mere utterance of its name is fated to bring a curse upon you if not the being itself. A skinwalker was once a human, a human who succumbed to the tempting promise of power that only the darkest of arts can bring. As with all magic, it comes at a cost. The sacrifice of someone in their family.

❝ the control brains better not call me to be the tallest again. ❞
"I care what you think."
❝ … that means a lot. ❞
he shifted a bit to rock on his heels for a brief moment.
❝ thank you. ❞
POSITRONICOVERLORE!
Oh? Looks like he needed a demonstration….
“ Judging by the twitching in your limbs and the stiffness in the ways your arms move, you’re still learning how to use those implants. I could tell from the second I saw you.
Now what are your limbs made of? Diamond-alloy? Copper and titanium? I can break that metal easily.”
❝ what makes you believe i’d tell you that? ❞
almost as soon as the professor let out that snide remark, his hand shot up - releasing a blast of what could only be described as ultra-hot plasma towards the android. whether it hit him in the core or the face, it didn’t matter. all that did matter, though, was that it hit somewhere.
... android!verse sc?
URTHSAVIOR!
The moment that word was uttered, Dib stopped his attacks. Son ? Had the Irken just called him son ? Now that he thought about it, the voice did sound like… No. No, absolutely not. This was some sort of trick. Even if his dad was nowhere to be seen, all the blinds closed as if to hide something, the insistence that this alien also lived there.
Theories swirled in the boy’s mind now. Cause him to drop his weapons && begin to back away, head shaking. “ What is this… ? Why are you saying those things ? You’re not– where’s my dad ? Why are you impersonating him ? ” Heart racing. Pupils dilated. Dib was in a panic.
Someone as smart as his father wouldn’t be fooled by Zim’s idiotic disguise. A thought comes to mind as he revels in this; what if all that talk about aliens not being real was for s h o w ? Because Membrane knew all along, because he had a secret, because he was–
“ NO ! ” Dib yells, hands clasping over his ears as if it will make his own thoughts stop. This was all a misunderstanding. It had to be. Slowly, little hands lower as huge eyes stare at the stranger. Who seemed so familiar. “ Talk. Right now ! Tell me what’s going on. Tell me you’re not… you’re not him ! ”
the cat was out of the bag.
the professor sighed as his pak’s arms lowered him to the ground before disappearing. his head hung low as he twiddled long fingers, trying to think of the best explanation he could give.
❝ …i am. ❞
his admission was hushed.
❝ dib, i am your father. now, given, i might not be your father in the traditional human sense... but you do have some of my irken dna within you. because, you see... it may have been the only option to keep you alive. ❞
only then did he look up, offering a weary smile and an outstretched hand.
❝ would you like me to explain? ❞
PARA-NORMATIVITY!
Dad? Is he…
No. It’s not his. It couldn’t be, not after what his sister had told him. It’s unsurprising that a version of Dad would somehow find and gravitate toward him, though. He shoves his hands in his pockets as his heart settles back down and tries to decipher why he’s talking about… rivers? Is it some kind of metaphor? Since when did the Professor ever try to be poetic? “Sir?”
the professor perched precariously over the edge of the cliff neighboring his laboratory. he had come there to brood, alone, so when he heard someone calling out to him... he simply ignored them. sure, he might’ve offered them a brief look over his shoulder, but... other than that, he was simply silent.
POSITRONICOVERLORE!
Great, he had to deal with a complete dumbass super-genius. It was like staring at a far less nerdy version of his father, and the idea of it alone made his circuits twist in on themselves.
“ No. Actual planet, actual name. I wasn’t the genius that named it, I blame you stupid humans for giving it an awful title. And don’t you think it’s more than a little rude to be laughing in the face of an android who could probably crush your skeleton into paste?”
Now that was a real threat, because he was done. The second anyone mocked him, he hated them….and someone Lore hated had best be very careful not to trigger his aggressive self-defense measures…..
❝ like i’ve said, that all sounds either highly improbable or completely impossible. ❞
the professor was firm on that statement, adamant on defending his viewpoint - even in the face of the threat of being beat to a bloody pulp.
❝ … like that’s an actual threat. ❞
TALLESTMIYUKII!
“Savages? How very direct…”
Is that what he thought? Though she failed to understand the notion, she could still feel the groove that had comfortably settled on her forehead in vexation. What was there to understand? A tallest abandoning his people for the sake of…pitying the humans? Tallest turned defective? It was unheard of. No, there had to be more to it than that. Right? She refused to let the presumption take hold of her.
She stared at him for another long moment, the corners of her mouth twitching, struggling to convey what kind of emotion she should be portraying in the moment. Then suddenly her hand shot out towards him as if in…greeting, a handshake? The motion almost seemed forced and robotic.
“To win, you must be willing to do whatever it takes,” she insinuated in a matter-of-fact kind of way. “It makes no difference if there is what you call, ‘resistance’ or not. Retreat is not an option the Empire can afford. But-”
She went suddenly still, as if to contemplate what she should say next. So still she could hear the whirring of her PAK under her disguise struggle with what to do with this sudden development.
Then finally, she raised her eyes to meet the other, steady and clear, a gentle smile now in place. “But…Min. I would like to hear your side of the story.”
there’s a moment of silence as miyuki’s question settled into him. the professor looked down at her perfectly fleshy human hand with an odd sense of fascination and jealousy that only outwardly showed by the furrowing of his brows.
well, that, and the fact that he had been staring at it since it was presented to him for a shake.
his gaze slowly trailed up to meet hers when she had asked for his story.
❝ my... story? ❞ the professor questioned, cocking his head to the side. ❝ why... ❞
quickly did his tone turn notably more hostile.
❝ why would the empire like to know? ❞
