Prisoner of the road - Sivert Høyem
Surprise [Elsie/Jon/Joel]
Elsie had been taking a long sip as he claimed that Joel was drunk, causing her to gasp mid-sip and choke on the alcohol. Once she managed to settle her fit, she looked at Joel with wide eyes. “You were drunk? What if something attacked you?” She fussed, un-aware it was simply a joke. She didn’t care if Jon didn’t know about their relationship. Elsie wasn’t one to let something like Joel’s safety slide away going unnoticed.
Joel merely rolled his eyes at Jon's words as he idly shook his head. "No," he replied, "I wasn't drunk, not even close." The older of the two leaned forward, propping both elbows on his knees and looked over at Elsie.
"Despite my line of work, I refuse to let it stop me from having a good time. I had just finished a case with an old friend, and I decided to grab a beer or two before hitting the bunk," Joel cleared his throat and sat up straight again. "I shouldn't have to explain that to you, Elsie," he added calmly and with slightly quirked eyebrows.
The sudden gravity of their conversation caused Jon to purse his lips as his eyes flickered between the two.

Surprise [Elsie/Jon/Joel]
Soon enough, Elsie re-entered the room with 3 open bottles. She handed each of them one then sat down relatively close to Joel, but kept her hands to herself. “So,” she started, breaking the silence. “What brought you two back together?” She asked, tilting her head.
The two men accepted the beer and Joel brought it straight to his lips before he tipped back the bottle and swallowed a few gulps. In the meantime Jon shifted a little and cleared his throat. "Coincidence," he replied, but that wasn't entirely true. Sure, it was a coincidence they had met on that day, but Jon had been looking for Joel for some time before that.
"Found him sitting drunk out of his mind at a bar, and I couldn't just leave him there, you know," Jon added jokingly, but Joel had been neither drunk or out of his mind when they met.
Surprise [Elsie/Jon/Joel]
A faint smile appeared on Elsie’s face at the feeling of the kiss. She looked up at him with loving eyes, knowing she couldn’t remain upset at him.
She closed the door once they were both in, quietly walking into the kitchen with a somewhat dreamy smile on her face. She briefly leaned back out after a moment, giving them a smile. “Is beer alright with the both of you?” She asked, wanting to make sure that Jon wasn’t a recovering alcoholic or anything.
"Beer sounds good," Joel replied for the both of them and looked her way. Jon just sat there and looked from Joel to Elsie, then back again and kept doing so a few more turns. He still wasn't quite sure what to make of the situation, or this woman he had never seen before, but what he did know was that his dad seemed to like her.
Surprise [Elsie/Jon/Joel]
Elsie looked between the two as Jon broke the silence. She snapped back to reality as Joel asked if they could enter. She wanted to say "Of course. Enter the place you basically live when you can." but she held her tongue of the outrageous reply. “Yeah. Sure.” She nodded with a warm smile, opening the door a bit more for them. “Can I get either of you anything to drink?” She asked, tilting her head.
Joel smiled at her response and took a step forward, but rather than walk inside he stopped in front of her and leaned down to press a kiss to her forehead. The gentle, but somewhat intimate gesture caused Jon to stand there wide-eyed for a moment before he followed Joel inside.
He wasn't entire sure what to say, so he chose to just keep quiet about it for now. Joel walked into the living room where he sat down on the couch and Jon mirrored his movements with accurate precision.
Joel took a breath and released it in the form of a light and content sigh. "Surprise us?" he replied with a light shrug and a crooked smile.
#007 Idol
Jon is the oldest of two boys, and he remembers significantly more than Matty from growing up together. He also remembers significantly more about Joel, and despite how little they saw of each other, Jon idolized him. Joel was, and still is, his hero.
Ever since Jon was little, the two had a deep connection and they would bond over the smallest of things.
Surprise [Elsie/Jon/Joel]
Elsie gave him a warm smile. “Nice to meet you, Jon.” She replied cheerfully. At Joel’s words, her eyes widened a bit, her eyes darting back to his. She said nothing, but her raised eyebrows and nervous eyes said "are you serious? Does he know anything? What am I supposed to do?"
Joel merely pursed his lips and looked away for a fleeting moment, as if saying he didn't know. Jon shifted his weight and looked at the two of them before he brought a balled fist up to his mouth and coughed into it. "So... " he began to get their attention. "Why are we here? You said we weren't on a case..." he asked with raised eyebrows, seemingly confused.
"And since when did we have to be on a case to visit people?" Joel asked in return with a quirked brow. Jon looked at him, confusion still evident on his face.
"Can we come in?" Joel asked finally and smiled at Elsie.
Surprise [Elsie/Jon/Joel]
Elsie had been doing her own thing during Joel’s leave of absence. Like she normally did. Went to work, grocery shopped, everything. But she always did keep the right side of her bed open for him for when he returned. Sure it was far from a normal domestic life, but she had chosen it. And she actually liked it.
At the sound of the knock on the door, Elsie was calm. It could have been the pizza she had ordered, or it could have been a officer from work who needed a quick session. But as she opened the door, her heart fluttered, excited to see Joel standing there. “Hey!” She grinned at him, quickly hugging him. As she noticed the young man besides him, she was sort of relieved that she hadn’t kissed him.
She released Joel from the hug, giving the younger man a warm smile. “Hi there. I’m Elsie.” She stated, extending her hand. She decided to skip the whole ‘call me liz’ thing. It’d be odd if he had to refer to her with a different name than Joel.
Jon stood there and watched Joel hug this woman back, causing a furrow to form on his brow. "Yeah, hi," he said in return, still not quite sure what to make of the situation. "I'm Jon," the younger of the two added as he shook her hand.
"He's my oldest," Joel explained, glancing over at his son before his eyes and focus returned to Elsie.
Surprise [Elsie/Jon/Joel]
Joel didn't quite know what to feel, and Jon noticed. "You alright?" he asked and looked over at his dad. "Yeah, I'm fine," Joel replied with a brief nod, but didn't sound nearly as convincing as he was gunning for. Jon scoffed and shifted his weight in the passenger seat, "Good, cause you haven't said a word since we left the motel, and that's being quiet, even for you."
Joel hadn't told Jon what was going to happen, or called Elsie to tell her they were coming. "Come on," he said before he exited the car, and Jon followed suit. They left the sidewalk at the same time as they stepped into the apartment building, and Joel lead the way.
"Are you..." Jon looked at him in disbelief. "Are you freshing up?" he said as Joel adjusted his jacket and knocked on the door.
